- Deep in the Atlantic Ocean, midway between North America and Europe, nine Portuguese islands make up the Azores archipelago. One of these, the volcanic island of Faial, is a favourite stop-over with yachtsman when they sail from Bermuda and the Caribbean. Anne Martin explores volcanic cones, the marina, local markets and the capital city of Horta.

Thank you. We are interested in visiting, possibly on a cruise sometime in the future. My husband's grandfather married a woman from there, his grandmother, over a century ago when he was a whaling captain. Very nice introduction to Faial.

I was born in fail know the island like I know the house I live in really I do I love hunting fishing going crabbing at night I really love the island haven’t been back since I was eighteen but hope to go back and visit soon.
Victor where in faial you did live what is your parents name, I'm from Faial to i left when i was 23 years old and i probably know your family thanks

@annemartintv I've stayed in Horta first time in 2001 and then went back there for a few months in 2002,used to go to Cafe Peter Sports for a coffee and talk the owner Peter very often,he was a nice person. I believe his son running the Cafe now. I will find out about when he died and let you know,thanks for your respond.
