You just made my day Mike! you I spent so much time looking for answers that I found here in your demonstration. Thank you for sharing you know-how and skills. Have a good day.
This was a great tutorial. I have never heard anyone describe painting shadows this way. This is the kind of color theory that I have been looking for. Any more color theory that you have please send a link and I will suck it up like a cold beer with a big head:-)
I think it can be more clear if we say,how to warm a shadow color by adding a little bit red to violet(blur+red) plus the yellow base would do the same effect and it would make more sense with the color temperature shift. However, this is very good tutorial to many of us who forgot to use the temperature thing properly.
I love your videos! One suggestion. It's hard to find specific videos with the titles obscured. You might consider placing subject first word of title....might make easier to find Thanks
Idk if I can work with that type of shadowing, it's different not wrong, I just feel like the way your doing it as I've done before to gives the painting a cartoon effect rather than realism that's why in painting class in school teach what they do cause typically your painting a still life when you learn shadows
''we're all striving for nice bright, colorful paintings". Well, no. We're NOT all striving for that at all. There are different styles and moods of paintings. The tonal paintings of George Inness. The paintings of Albert Ryder. Early Mondrian. Giorgio Morandi. The cubist paintings or Picasso and Braqu. Juan Gris
The theory of Color by Dr David Briggs mentions that the color of shadow is the complementary of the color of light producing the shadow. It seems contradictory to what you are explaining. You may please elaborate
it is a lotion that has a plastic type stuff in it to prevent chemicals from paint going into cracks in skin. Can find website. Nurses use it to keep hands from cracking when washing hands a zillion times a day.. plastic coating is not thick.. can't feel it.. but hands don't dry out and yet it is a really thin layer of plastic.
hey, you are really confusing students, you are not right. you must know how to mix the complementary and control them with violate and yellow. and a little white also.
Very good 👍😌

Excellent
Very interesting.

Thanks Mike! Are you doing more videos or online learning anymore?
This was a Best
tutorial
Merci beaucoup from Normandie
Mike, you alright . Thanks.
You would do well to show a simple color wheel in an inset.
The first example looked much more realistic.

why would you not work towards the blue when painting the shadow side of box? i like the orangish bright color shadow but i like what you did.

👍
Do you have any of your lesson for purchase as downloadable videos
This is a good way of doing if you're into very colourful paintings, but I wouldn't recommend for realists, at all.
same question as Mercurymind, how do you brighten dark colors?
awesome!

What is 'gloves in a bottle' ? I want to be safe.

I feel like I almost understand this, but that I am missing a little something.
He was calling shading shadow, very confusing.
