Coming back and hearing that sweet “enjoy your ride here on the Firehawk!” hurts so much man. Firehawk quickly became my favorite after getting over my fear of rollercoasters. So you know how much it hurt when I learned they would be tearing it down to build the gigacoaster. Now before you guys say anything, I’m not mad that they tore it down, in fact, I completely understand why they did. Firehawk was an 11 year old rollercoaster (as of it opening in Kings Island, the original design dates back to 2001) that broke down a lot. I was very lucky to be able to ride it when I could.
Sorry I didn’t mean for the speech. I came expecting a trip down memory lane, and got it, more aggressively than I expected.
Don’t think I’ll experience a coaster like this one where you feel like you’re flying. I hope there’s something like this in the future

The sun was BRUTAL going up that lift hill. And dont even get me started on small raindrops
I am incredibly blessed to have ridden this in 2017 and boy let me tell you it was phenomenal. I loved the feeling of flying very much. R. I. P. my dear friend Firehawk you will be missed by many.
Looks like Kings Island is going to tear this ride down to make room for a giga coaster.

And if you have doubts about the ride it's their safest ride at Kings island.

Works even better on the B&M flyers, like Superman at Six Flags Great Adventure! Weird thing is, hardly anyone does it; they just hold onto the harnesses and grab bars for dear life, which makes you feel less- and NOT more -secure. Dr

I rode this ride with my dad and he was screaming the whole time and when it was over he said "On that first drop I think I was about to crap my pants" XD

I miss this coaster
Easily one of the best rides. Rather than getting the thrill from big drops, it gets it from the position you are in.

Got stuck on this ride in 2015. We rode the ride and pulled into the station and started wondering why they wouldnt let us out of the seats. A couple seconds later they made an announcement saying they were having technical difficulties, we got out 45 minutes later but felt like 3 hours
I rode this year's ago when it was x flight at six flags Ohio, it was awesome! And looked better in green!
Def was better in green as the x flight! It took me years to find what happened to that coaster and I finally did. I've gotta go to kings island soon then I guess

faith_ smitty Six Flags used to have a Ohio park but later had to be closed. The ride was relocated when Cedar Fair purchased the park and the ride was moved to Kings Island were it is today. However if you get close to it you can see green dots on the rail, showing it's old color when it was called X-Flight.

This was my favorite coaster at Kings Island. I absolutely loved it when I rode it the first time. Orion is great, but for me personally it’s hard to beat the experience of going up a hill on your back and then barreling headfirst into the ground.
I wrote this when it was ex flight, and it was amazing! I am normally terrified of roller coasters, but I will never forget this one! I am so sad that it is now gone. Are I P firehawk, and fly high!

they had difficulties yesterday. idk what it was, but it didn't keep me from riding it. i had to pee SO bad though. and i wore my glasses. i felt unsecured since my friend and i had to hold my glasses on my face, which meant we were both holding on to dear life with one arm. my hair was in my face the entire time as well. but, when the picture came out, IT WAS PRICELESS. it was worth the ride to see that hilarious photo. we lost it and were asked to leave since we were disrupting the bystanders. even the guy working the photo printer died of laughter though. never again will I ride that thing!
I am sure if you use the bathroom before you get in line, don't bring glasses onto the ride, and put your hair in a pony tail you should have a great ride nex time! As simple as that!
Seeing the front of the train below you when going through the vertical loop and riding in the back row was awesome.

I'll be honest, Firehawk is not the one that should be taken down. I'm not a huge fan of the ride itself, but what about the Vortex? I've not met a single person who likes that one.

Just got back from King's Island a couple of days ago...easily one of the best rides there. I had an absolute Blast on this one. The problem with Banshee is that it has a relentless force on your face and chest. Diamondback...awesome ride but severely intense and it constantly feels like you are on a drop tower every time it goes down the hills...not complaining but yeah. I felt neither of these things on Firehawk just pure un-adultered fun! It's restraints also make you feel extremely safe much safer than Diamondback's clicking stick on your lap.
Well, at view of a coaster enthusiast, the banshee and diamondback are easily my most favorite rides there, whereas this one is an okay coaster. The banshee and diamondback are supposed to be fast and relentless. If they’re too much for you, there’s always planet snoopy next door since they got some nice coasters too!
To bad it's no more a ride. :(
I have never been on one of these, but looks very outdated at this point. Bring on the GIGA!!!

I loved that ride, but strangely afterwards I immediately wanted to ride the Manta at sea world lol RIP fire hawk in the future. 😑

God Damnit King's Island. We have a flying dutchmen here at Carowinds, and it's hurts so much. They could've just torn down nighthawk and leave Firehawk alone by now
I got stuck on this ride when it was at Geauga Lake, last ride of the night at closing. I was 3rd car back and it stopped near the top of the lift hill. I had a perfect and comfortable view of the rest of the park. For 10 minutes the first car was partly leaning backwards since it was over the crest of the hill with the blood rushing to their head. This ride was plagued with seatbelt issues which the train in the loading station was having.
I rode this ride it was so fun but ur flipped upside down and I flippen screamed bc of how high it was and u were flipped upside down

I've only ridden a B&M flyer, are the Vekoma verticals loops on the flyers as painful as the B&M pretzel loops? I still love flying coasters though!
I wanted to know the same because Superman at Six Flags Great Americas Pretzel loop hurts so bad and makes me blackout everytime
I have experienced Manta's. The ride is incredible, but the pretzel loop feels like my chest will collapse. Haven't blacked out, but it is uncomfortable.
Firehawk doesn't have any painful sections in it. Vortex does, it's probably due for an overhaul on some of the sections, but yeah, I would recommend Firehawk.
It's forceful but not painful at all
UPDATE: I like this one better then Batwing. Also this one load times are quicker cause they have 2 loading stations and 2 trains.

I remember when I was younger, this ride broke down twice. So, I had to get in line 3 times in order to ride it. It was still worth it... :D

i used to be really scared of pretty much every coaster, i just built up the courage finally when i turned 14 and rode the vortex, from then on ive been able to fide pretty much everything at kings island except for diamondback. it also helps to yell and close your eyes on the parts your most fearful of.
Im sad that it's gone, I'm just glad I got to ride it once, even though it wasn't as fun as it could be as it almost snapped my phone in half.
I've gotten stuck on this ride before
I got stuck in the Beast in '08. First time at KI and the train behind us broke the ride so I was stuck in the train for 30 minutes waiting for the mechanics to get the train in the station to depart.
I am so sad Firehawk is gone. It was my favorite ride of all time!💔

just went to kings island, loved the diamondback and vortex, but i didnt think the beast was as fun as people thought.
I got stuck at the brake section at the end of this ride for over 30 minutes one time. We were all just laying there face up in the sun and eventually a park manager came by in a dress shirt handing us waters. This was a fun ride, though.. just seems like it had a lot of maintenance issues.
I don't think I could ride it because of how they have you.

I just rode it for the first time yesterday. I am just now 54". I didn't think I'd like it, but I loved it. They put you in a harness and at the top they twist the carts over. You fall in your harness and there is a little rubber thing to catch your legs. It feels like you are flying!
I've ridden Batwing at Six Flags America which is the exact same ride as this and it felt like my harness was gonna fail especially on the helix before the brakes
This was back from Six Flags Ohio/Geauga Lake. I miss that park and hate what they did to it. They even demolished one of the very first rollercoasters to every exist.

I rode the FireHawk in 2014 my first visit to Kings Island. I was terrified!
I went on it today, and some of the paint is peeling off showing the green paint when it was X-Flight.
As much as I hate to see any roller coaster go, this is probably the best one they could have demolished all things considered.

This Roller coaster was one of the best and my favorite it. I’m deadly scared of heights like bad bad I get anxiety attacks so hard but this coaster I’m guessing since I can’t see us going up and having that anticipation it helped a lot. I would just keep looking up at the sky and when it flipped over it truly did feel like flying and it was so much fun 🤗 R.I.P FIREHAWK 🎢😭😭
Well depends on how you look at it when your going up the lift and your looking at the track technically your looking upside down. but then when you flip over at the to your the correct way.
yes, this is one of the coolest rides in the park, not to mention its tendency to break down.
They removed this and now they are removing Vortex. two classic coasters.

Six Flags has a park in Ohio? I thought Kings Island and Ceder Point were the only true amusement parks in the state?
They had a massive one before they entered bankruptcy call Six Flags Worlds of Adventures. Pretty sad story about what happened to it actually.
