Grim: Here's how you make a drop shadow that makes your art stand out against a background. Me: Thumbnail says greasy lol (Your videos are really informative btw)
Just getting into graff (art form expression not vandalism) as an adult now after having the interested “suppressed” as a kid kid. Finding the expression of movement+colors to be healing some old wounds. Still a beginner but appreciating the journey. Thank you for this content and I love your enthusiasm
All these years of struggling with drop shadows, it never occurred to me to just duplicate the image and shift it over in the direction of the light. …I’m off to finish graffitiing my wall WITH ALL THE SHADOWS going down and to the left!! 😆 It totally makes sense now. Thank you!
lol well then this will definitely help you out! Be sure to grab up one of the E Books in the description. Either the premium or the free version, links are in the description. I made sure to pack them with info!
You can make the light come from wherever you want so long as the shadow responds accordingly. I teach how to do this around 50 seconds in if you want to give it a second watch
Nothing changes, just break it down to one step at a time. The letters to the left of the light will have shadow down and to the left, ( assuming this candle is higher than the letters ever so slightly) , and as we get closer to the candle and as we approach being under the candle the shadows will begin going straight down then they'll start going down and to the right as we move away from the candel. Same formula as shown just break it down one step at a time
No problem buddy, I highly recommend getting the e book too. Grab the free one if you want a good source of info you can always keep on your comp. Link in description
lol that would hurt so many new graffiti artists it's crazy lol i'll end up doing it but man im going to brace myself for the tons of critiques from new graffiti artists who arent keeping it simple, trying wild style with 3D styles trying cast shadows lol
This is basic drop shadow so while yes you can add it ontop of the diamond we arent teaching that here. In graffiti, and even most other art forms with drop shadow, all shadows are unified behind the subject and dont overlap the subjects. Once again they can but then that gets into depth and this changes the shadow a bunch. In graffiti the letters are all on the same depth and this once again causes the shadows to not overlap. You can see this on most pieces and throw ups with drop shadow. Overlapping can also get into cast shadow and this is why when teaching basic drop shadow we dont overlap.
But like, big question. Because, I understood this video flawlessly and remember learning this stuff in art class. But are throwies, with no negative space, considered one object? Or do we still gotta go letter by letter?
Thank you for the awesome video! Just in case you are instructing artist-geeks, in the future, you might want to know that each point or corner is called a "vertex" and that "vertices" is the plural form. There is no such thing as a single "vertice." ; - )
lol thanks a bunch man i appreciate it. lol before making this video i didn't even know vertex was a word and to this day i still get them mixed up now that i do know vertex but ill for sure get it :D

lol that would hurt so many new graffiti artists it's crazy lol i'll end up doing it but man im going to brace myself for the tons of critiques from new graffiti artists who arent keeping it simple, trying wild style with 3D styles trying cast shadows lol
Do you have an ig
Thank you for the video
6:17 wouldn't that shadow cover the diamond?

I fucking needed thisss thx😤👏🏻🙏
You are one of my favorite online graffiti teachers! Not like @know.graffiti's "3D shadow"-shit! Love your Channel!🔥🔥🔥🔥
There's something so Bob Ross-ish about this video, I expected him to say "Now at this point you'll have to start making some big decisions."
my brain still cant figure the middle parts of the curved alphabets- Wheres the sign up sheet to go back to pre-school
new e book,niiiiiice!
also,i have a piece i'd like you to critique, where can i send it?
um,digital premium link is 404
it works for me, maybe try again in a min or two . sorry for that man
@@Theartistblock no worries dude,its working now,thanks!
thanks bro, peace from morroco
So a drop shadow isn't the 3D that you'd see in a graffiti piece?? That most people put in their lettering?
Oh no no no .3d has volume and gives letters height. Drop shadow doesn't do that
But like, big question. Because, I understood this video flawlessly and remember learning this stuff in art class. But are throwies, with no negative space, considered one object? Or do we still gotta go letter by letter?

@@Theartistblock You can always just call them "points" or "corners." It's all good. :-D
Featured my man SSIO. U actually know him?
You are an excellent explainer ! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. 🙏🙏 I love your content
how you gonna not draw the last two lines and finish it lol
*Matatan*
*Ribirin H-S............((("..👀..")))*
*Matatan. .. .Ribirin H-S*
You're wrong with the singular of vertices. It's vertex. 1 vertex, 2 vertices.
Lol ya I didn't know vertex was even a word until like two days ago lol my bad
@1:29 edible just hit
