I always wanted a ‘90’s two door Defender 90 with a soft top but clean ones with low miles are pushing $150k in the states, which seems a bit ridiculous. That would be a better car for Janni.

I guess I am the only one that thinks this is too big and rides too rough and makes little sense on an island with small parking spaces. It’s also too big for parking garages too. I guess if you are happy that is what count. I predict in 3 months you will sell it. Your wife needs a car she can drive with the two kids and their toys. She needs a smaller SUV. I do worry about no fences around the pool. I only say that because my friend had a serious accident with her 3 year old and a pool.
Some music is insanely loud compared to your voice.. I'd appreciate if you can spend some more time leveling it out before publishing the video 👍🙂

I got my defender a few years ago just before the major hype. I went from land cruiser to defender just because of the amazing community and all the nice defender owners around the world. However with the recent peak in interest I've noticed most people who own the cars don't even know about the wave and friendliness. I very recently drove my defender from Albania to Belgium and out of maybe 30 defenders only 1-2 waved back at me. Maybe it's just a thing in the south of europe because when I was back home (Sweden) and now outside of Europe (South America) everyone is waving again ;)

Hey Jon, don't know about how many plies those big tyres has, but usually Defender 110s have more stiffer springs in the back. With normal tyres usually pressure for a comfy ride onroad would be 36PSI, offroad 29PSI, and for really soft surface like sand/dunes/beach you can go down to 16/17. In Morocco I was playing around in my Defender 90 at 17PSI, crossing the Merzouga dunes from east to west and surrounding them with total confidence... Would be nice to have suspension shocks that you can regulate it's pressure from inside... that is a pretty good invention and you wont be worried about being inside a "shaky shoebox"... In the roof rack would be nice to have some offroad equipment or maybe a roof tent (maybe in a future, because now sleep in the nature with small kids..., don't know ;-) )
36 is great for most defender tyres but these trepadors have a really soft compound because they are competition tyres (they eat tread on the roads) and meant to run lower, 36 psi makes them to wear super quick :( poor ride goes hand in hand with them as well but Fox shocks are the solution - unfortunately they don’t do a 4” extended version for this lift kit.
@@tomdowell6311 these trepadors are beast in the mud but the worst to drive on road and really unsafe in the wet. And get it on bilstein shocks! I think td5inside comes to cyprus a few times a year so get in touch with him to sort everything out!
I run Cooper Discoverer SST 35x12.5 and usualy run them at about 14psi 0,9 bar off road. The stiff sides keep the shape and are great for all the rocks in the swedish forrest. Running stock springs usualy is only an option if running stockish wheels and equipement.
I run a winch and skidplate up front and it´s 110 dcpu so the rear is light. Lifted it 2 inches and put medium springs in front and light in the rear. It still rides high in the back and at the top of the spring travel. So when off road I weigh the rear back to get a bit more in to the sweet spot of the suspension travel.

You'll love the defender I have one and they have soo much character they become part of the family, just don't expect them to drive well😂

Hate to say it, but with 2 babies this car is pure and simple dumb. It’s a tin can on stilts without any modern safety features at all. Fundamentally it’s based on a design from 1948. It’s not crash tested at all to modern standards. You couldn’t pay me to put my family in one, even in sleepy Cyprus.
So pumped you didn’t j get a basic g-Wagon… defenders are 100x cooler!
The defender is pretty much exactly a basic bare bones G wagon tho 😂

I love that spec. You should do like my buddy does, he's owned Range Rovers since the first generation and also Defenders and they are always white with zebra stripes and the whole Safari kit on it and they always look so cool. 👍

Did you guys deflate the tires before going offroad? Those look like 35s so you can air down to about 18-20psi and it would make all the difference. Much less bumpy and more grip offroad, and also less stress on the suspension parts. I highly reccomend keeping a good compressor in the car for airing down.

Getting a defender is more than just buying a car. You're buying yourself into one of the biggest, best and also most judgmental communities. Just check the comments of any video involving a defender... Every person that lived with a defender know it is a love-hate relationship. As a defender owner I wish you the best and as a person who followed you when I was younger I wish the defender good luck haha

Hey jon! Don’t beat yourself up for the slow down off the adventure it’s normal with new babies but it comes back later but 10x better when you can do these adventures with your little ones when they’re older! Just enjoy life and have fun whatever it is you’re doing!

How do you see if the car comes from Cyprus - the vehicle registration plate is just in the form as if it was from Sweden. :)
You should check out the book Natural Born Heroes by Christopher McDougall about some Cretan resistance fighters during ww2. Also his book Born to Run may be interesting if you get back into running.
