I have seen ASEA loco running in vskp. Once it was sent to Tatanagar loco shed for repair, but nothing could be done. These Swiss made locos were imported by Narsimha Rao govt. In 1992. ASEA locos were made for European climate conditions, was fit to run between -10 degree centigrade to 20 degree centigrade, was semiconductor based and not at all suitable for Indian climate. They all succumbed to hot Indian weather condtion within 1 or 2 year and were removed from service. One single unit had 6000 hp, was a treat to view but not at all good for Indian condition.
I think I am the only Indian railfan who loves electric trains otherwise most of them love diesel trains. Can't wait to see our railway network getting fully electrified.

WAG 6,6A,6B all were or are running with DC motors. Major change occurred when WAP 5,WAG 9 and superstar WAP 7 were available and are driven by AC motors, though not directly. AC motors have very less maintainance, power consumption per tonne and cost , compared to DC. Hence all DC motored loco got outdated and inefficient,, expenditure wise. They lost due to inventions.... Just like telephone lost to mobile.

During 1996 to 2000 it was use Visakhapatnam Division for Fright. It was stopped due to direct import and heavy expense
