- This video demonstrates the basic functionality of the original Peterson StroboPLUS HD. This is the non-color StroboPLUS HD, and not the 2021 StroboPLUS HDC. You'll learn your way around the interface as well as how to select sweetened tunings, save, recall and delete presets.
Although the StroboPLUS HD can be programmed with the help of the Peterson Connect website at www.petersontuners.com/connect , this tutorial will show you how to setup your StroboPLUS HD without the use of a computer.
Peterson is the best period and the customer service is even better!!!
I love mine, I can see it from 20 feet away easily even though I have cataracts. Just the best thing I've ever used.
great stuff ! I'm PSG Player and Guitar Player - very useful and easy , clear Tuner. sweetened tunings are important , great thanks. bernard (I used the old VS for many years without any problem)
Wow is this Strobe Plus HD accurate! I was using a $50. digital tuner that was almost worthless since I was always slightly out of tune. Finally, my guitars are in exactly in tune with the Stobe Plus HD. With a difference!~
I only seem to have a couple of sweetened settings to choose from, mostly pedal steels, how do I get to the full list?
I've got this tuner. It's kind of bulky to carry around but I use it for violin only instead of guitar and Dulcimer. I prefer the clip on one for them. Best tuners you can get are Peterson's.
Hi, I have a StrobøPlus HD. I read somewhere that I can buy additional LiPo batteries on your site. I cannot find them. Are they not available?
My Stroboplus's USB charge port has become unable to charge the unit. It has always given my issues causing me to find the perfect angle of the cable so it will charge, but now it is barely working at all. It's not like I have repeatedly plugged and unplugged the USB plug, but I need to get this working again as I use it daily in my repair business. Can I get this fixed?
Very helpful, thanks!
I miss my strobostomp :'( bring them back!
iertati ca indraznesc sa va intreb daca se poate sa-mi spuna cineva cum se foloseste acest aparat pentru a verifica un Acordeon ,va Multumesc,RO
I dont get it why the metronome isnt included on the tuner? It costs 40$!
Does this tuner also detect overtones?
Great Tuner and Metronome. With a precaution of course. The output speaker is cheap. When turning on the pitches to listen while I tune the speaker blew. For $139 +$39 more for the metronome you would think all the parts would be good quality. I found a replacement speaker. I bought a fender frontman guitar amp for $60 and that does the job very well. But it is not practical if I wanted to travel with it.
how does one change the temperament? exp change a 440 to another setting
+Kelly Goble Rotate the knob to the parameter you wish to change and press it to select it. Rotate the knob to select the value desired.
I like this tunernome and the "sweeteners" are an awesome idea that makes it all the more attractive. The only issue I can see is that as a classical musician I would like to tailor the individual notes within each sweetner tuning. For example drop D - often on a classical guitar the 3rd string is always in tune in the open position but slightly out at the 7th fret and so I have to compromise and use my ear. I'm pretty good at it and so I imagine that I could load in the individual compromised tunings for my classical guitar and then be able to recall them at a moments notice.
Have you ever had those practices or gigs where the guitar just seemed perfectly in tune and all the harmonics behaved? I wana get close to that everytime.
+Brian Cullen You've probably found it by now but you can create your own custom presets with offsets to the tenth of a cent using our online editor. www.petersontuners.com/sweeteners/custom/
+PetersonTuners thanks.
How is the "cents" button used. Does it tell you how much your off so that "cents " can be set or adjusted
Richard. Great question. It doesn't tell you HOW much you are off, but it lets you adjust the target. So, if I adjust the target to +3.2 cents and I get an in tune reading with my guitar, then the string I am playing is 3.2 cents sharp.
Can this be used for advanced band for french horn for easier use and learning?
Absolutely! However, the StroboPLUS HD has been discontinued and replaced with the StroboPLUS HDC. The functionality of the tuner mode is very similar.
1 tenth of one cent. Or in other terms, really fucking accurate.
Hello, May i ask you something? Does it tells you how many cents are you wrong while you are tuning?
I don't think it does - which is quite sad
It would appear that more and more manufacturers are ditching the old cent readings in exchange for graphical effects
Wen in reality, graphical display do nothing to dial-in precise measurements required to customize tuning for particular instruments.
@@SmalltimR ..That's the stupid part. Why not just show it in cents where you nail it down. It's goes left. it goes right and is just a mess.
It doesn’t. It’s a huge drawback to this tuner.
@@sandiegodan : It's a design feature, not a drawback! This tuner allows you to SET the amount of cents you want your tuning to be aiming for. Then when you produce the note, it tells you when you hit it. Other tuners show you with a needle on a gauge how many cents apart you are from the zero mark. Different design. This tuner's way of doing things allows you to have presets and "sweetened" values that include the cents values. For example, for accordions with three sets of reeds, one will be on the spot, one will be a few cents lower and one will be a few cents higher. With other tuners, you would need to constantly watch the gauge needle to determine the cents value you are looking for. With the StroboPlus you set the cents value in the setting and just need to worry about the wheel spinning or not. If your instrument must be -5 cents the strobe will stop spinning when it is.
@@Hendrix. : See my reply to Daniel Glenn. Since you can set the cents value, all you need to worry is the wheel to stop spinning. You must be used to other tuners with a LED or needle going left and right. With this one, you SET the target cents deviation you are looking for, the tuner does all the work for you after that.
Thanks
Why you do not connect guitar to use it in action???
Hi. I just received my StroboPLUS (no metronome) I'm slow to learn. I play a 4-String Bass. E - A - D - G. Please tell me what to do to select these notes and save and be able to recall these when needed.
Fantastic tuner, but I've had to watch this video at least 3 or 4 times when I randomly want to change something. Its not intuitive at all. I HATE the wheel.

ya gotta purchase the metronome??? You may have just lost a customer
I have zoned out on this video. Why too complicated to setup. I’m thinking the StompHD and/the clip on tuners are the better value.
Do you have this StroboPLUS HD or the newer StroboPLUS HDC? We can help with whatever you need. The StroboPLUS HDC is capable of everything the Stomp HD and ClipHD can do, plus more. I'd encourage you to open a helpdesk ticket at petersontuners.com/support/newTicket/ and we'll help you immediately.
@@PetersonTuners thank you I am strongly considering purchasing one of your tuners. I’m just not sure which one…
@@mehmd1913 Glad to hear it. We can help you decide as well, either here or in a support ticket on our site.
Great for guitar, what about for piano?
Thanks for the question! The StroboPLUS HD has been replaced by the StroboPLUS HDC, however this information is true for both tuners. The Sweeteners for acoustic upright piano (UPR) and acoustic grand piano (SMG) are included on the tuner. If you would like to create your own Sweetener for piano tuning, that can be accomplished through Peterson Connect and uploaded to your tuner.
The tuner includes an onboard microphone, but some users prefer to use an external dynamic microphone with 1/4" connector for piano tuning.
@@PetersonTuners Thanks, very helpful.
BTW a cheap D'addario clip on tuner has a metronome built in. It's a digital metronome for free.
I’ll take tuning accuracy over a metronome any day.

The rubber used on the dial selector knob is crap, after a few years it will begin to melt and get sticky, same on the new model !
I removed mine (just pulled it up) and washed it with dish soap and water, and voilà! Just like new.
Is it trve 🅱️ypass?
Thank you for the question. True bypass operation is only found in our pedal tuner, the Stomp Classic.
Why didn't you just make something like the more rugged stomp without a DI and be desk usable also? This strobo plus looks ridiculously cheap and mind-numbingly complicated.
I bought your clip strobe tuner instead. You lost money by complicating things as I would have bought a more expensive one if it was a real metal, desk sitting strobe tuner.
I just got the Strobo Plus last week, it is definitely not low quality/"cheap" (not talking about price).
for my opinion: too expensive, too much dings and dongs to tweak in. I like my SEIKO Sat-1200 tuner...... fast and acurate.
+Michael Achenbach Thanks for watching!
+Michael Achenbach not as accurate as this puppy
They could have just made the stomp tuner for desk use but they cheaped out and made this plastic one with the stupid dial. It's a real turn off, I agree. That being said I bought their clip on.
Nothing beats a Peterson
Entirely too much bullshit on a tuner. Why do you have to pay for "upgrades"? I'm looking elsewhere...I can smell a rat.
