The Koko Head hike in Oahu, Hawaii sounds absolutely incredible! Climbing over a thousand steps using old railroad ties on the Koko Crater Tramway must be quite a challenging and rewarding experience. The fact that it leads up to the pillbox bunkers at the top adds a historical touch to the adventure. I can only imagine the breathtaking views that await at the Koko Head Lookout Trail - seeing Hanauma Bay, Honolulu, and more from that vantage point must be truly mesmerizing. It's wonderful to hear about such amazing hiking opportunities in the beautiful landscape of Hawaii. Mahalo for sharing this adventure with us! 🌺🏞🥾
Mahalo for your support! Yeah a 1000 steps seemed a little daunting at first and the big drop off under the tracks made us a little uneasy at first, but the hike is so worth it! The pillbox bunkers are always nice to see and you are right they do add a bit of history to make things even more interesting. And once on top the views are amazing. We loved Hanauma Bay and seeing it from up there made it even more special. Thanks for your great comment!
I just did this hike last week. Big props to all of the volunteers that put in the hard work to completely refurbish the railroad ties. Everything looks new. I will say that this is probably the hardest hike in all of Oahu.
Oh, that's great to hear! It was such an amazing hike I'm glad it is being well taken care of. Thank you volunteers! I didn't realize we did one of the hardest hikes in all of Oahu. We were definitely sweating towards the top. I'd say it's still a fairly accessible trail as long as you are fairly nimble on your feet. I want to do it again and see the new railroad ties. Probably much safer now. Thanks for your great comment.
_Cool and interesting hiking adventure video, the stunning beauty and exciting of wonderful scenery along Koko Head trail is clearly explored, well shown and well narrated. Thanks for always sharing wonderful inspiration._
Nice video! One of my favorite hikes when I was living there. They were doing a renovation summer 2021 and if you wanted, they'd let you carry 5 gallon buckets of gravel up with you, lol.
Haha really? Man, it's hard enough without carrying a bucket of gravel. I'd definitely do that hike often if I lived there. Good workout, but not too extreme. Plus, fantastic views from the top. Good to hear from you...hope you are doing well!
@@ChrisChrisman Yeah, great views for such a short hike, it is tough but worth it. Apparently there is a back way up along the ridgeline to the southeast so I'll have to try it next time I'm there. Thanks man, all is well here, same to you! I'll keep an eye out for new vids.
@@S1l3nt84 I wondered if there was possibly a trail along that ridgeline. That would be more like Angel's Landing! Yeah, let me know if you ever do that part. Glad you are doing well. Just got back from a fantastic trip in Colorado doing mountain biking, hiking, and white water rafting. Hope to have those videos out soon (maybe, might do another series first) and later this year going on an African Safari. Those should be epic videos!
Not really. It looks harder than it is. You will definitely get a good workout in, especially towards the top, but it's not too bad. Wear good shoes though. The railroad ties make the ground very uneven. One part doesn't even have ground under the railroad ties, but there is a chicken exit where you can go around that area through the grass. It's a great hike. If you find it too challenging you can always turn around. Have fun!
Gotcha! Yeah, at first we didn't know what that noise was. But, being from the Midwest, we should have known better. It sounds like that here all the time! Well, at least when we visit family. Take care!
