    The landscapes are truly breathtaking, and the sight of so many llamas and alpacas is fantastic. The museum's display on transforming wool into high-quality clothing is fascinating, especially with dyes from vegetables and insects. The beer-making process using saliva is quite unique. Your video wonderfully highlights Peru's rich heritage and natural beauty. Have a great weekend!

    I love snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. On the beach side of the reef it is a great place for novice and starter snorkelers (roughly 4 ft depth). On the other other side of the reef I would recommend only those who are least SOLID INTERMEDIATE and a strong swimmer as well. This is because suddenly beyond the reef the depth increases dramatically (just ten yards beyond the reef depth appears to be about 20 ft) and there is a set of currents out in the larger area which can carry you toward the mouth of the bay and thus the open ocean, and the "Maui Express"(swimmers and others have been lost in this strong inter island current0, so you need to be solid and have good judgement once you take on the larger cone area. You have to remember it does take WORK to get back to shore. [this whole bay is a volcanic cinder cone, now filled with ocean, wildlife and corral]. There is a thing called "Toilet Bowl" just out beyond the northern side of this bay, it's also potentially dangerous, this is a lava tube type formation, and thus better for those with good sense and strong swimming skill. The locals seem all to know this stuff. All that being said, this is a fantastic snorkeling area, with many opportunities to see ample sea life and to explore reef area, learn to snorkel, and plenty of area to explore once you get good.

    • @ChrisChrisman
      @ChrisChrisman День тому

      Thanks for the great comment and info! I totally agree that you should be a strong or very decent swimmer if you go to the other side of the reef. We saw the signs and were quite cautious. We did get into a bit of current. I would definitely not go out there without a decent set of snorkeling/scuba fins. You can rent gear there, but we brought all of our own since we also scuba dive a lot. Our fins are quite large, but that may not even have been enough for some of the areas you are describing like the Toilet Bowl. Really good info. I hope everyone reads your comments before going there, but yes it is very safe on the beach side of the reef. It truly is a magical place. I would like to go ever further out next time, but will definitely do more research first. Thanks again!

    • @ChrisChrisman
      @ChrisChrisman 17 днів тому

      You would probably fly into Nairobi then take some kind of transportation (taxi, shuttle, safari service) to Naivasha. The price of the hotel would include seeing the animals there, but it isn't what I would consider an actual safari. More just a hotel with animals around it. You can go over to Lake Naivasha and explore the lake and island which would be more like a safari. That costs extra, but is not very expensive. Naivasha Sopa Resort is very nice and you can get quite close to the animals. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    So where did they get 21,500,000 bricks in 1823 when the population of Florida was said to be about 1 million people? Let alone set them and do it so well the structure still stands 200 years later? It is almost like the history of this star fort and many others is really just fake. Fyi, the Empire state building consists of less than 10 million bricks.

    • @ChrisChrisman
      @ChrisChrisman 2 місяці тому

      Machu Picchu, Pyramids and many other structures have withstood centuries and a lot of them didn't even use mortar. This fort along with many others are very impressive, but not so impressive they seem impossible to build. With enough labor you could make as many bricks as you want I imagine. Also, the walls were many feet thick. I don't think the Empire State building would survive multiple blasts. I would say seeing is believing in this case. But, I appreciate your view point and it is good to challenge the status quo. History is written by the winners lol. Thanks for your comment.

    Least Turns lay their eggs and hatch their babies there, thus the bird crossing and 15 mph signs. The baby chicks cross the road and get run over by vehicles. Actually, the whole island is a bird sanctuary and protected.

      The bird crossing sign seemed a bit funny at first, but we definitely respected it and watched out for any hatchlings. If you watch part two of the video, we go birding and see a bunch of great species. So many different birds on that island. Thanks for your comment!

    I have never seen a hippo in the wild. Such great video captures. Lake Naivasha looks like a very nice place to explore. Great views of the wildlife and surrounding landscapes. Interesting that some of the birds can dive 20 meters deep by eating rocks and then vomit them out later on. Thanks for sharing.

      Boating with hippos is not something you get to do everyday lol. It was a great little experience. So many different kinds of birds there. Looked up later to see if those birds actually eat rocks and it appears they do. Sounded too strange to be true. Thanks for visiting! I've been working on a Machu Picchu video and haven't had a chance to actually watch UA-cam in a while.

    I just did this hike last week. Big props to all of the volunteers that put in the hard work to completely refurbish the railroad ties. Everything looks new. I will say that this is probably the hardest hike in all of Oahu.

      Oh, that's great to hear! It was such an amazing hike I'm glad it is being well taken care of. Thank you volunteers! I didn't realize we did one of the hardest hikes in all of Oahu. We were definitely sweating towards the top. I'd say it's still a fairly accessible trail as long as you are fairly nimble on your feet. I want to do it again and see the new railroad ties. Probably much safer now. Thanks for your great comment.

    Found your video helpful. Did u pay separately for the room/meals and vehicle/game drives? So how total per night for all of it pp or for both of u? Suggestion on how much to tip? Thx

      We went during high season when prices tend to be higher. The safari itself (driver and game drives w/o tip) was $160 USD per person per day. The upgraded vehicle (see our best vehicle video) was another $1080 USD over the course of our 9-day trip, but you could get by cheaper. Rooms in Amboseli and Naivasha were around $180 per person per night including all food, but not alcoholic drinks. The room in the Masa Mara was $330 per person per night and also included food, but not drinks. As for tips, that's up to your discretion, but we left generous tips at the hotels and for our safari driver. For the driver, I think $20 to $40 total a day is recommended. I will say we left more. Our driver was fantastic and the great people in Kenya do not make a lot of money so we tipped as much as we could afford, but they never make you feel obligated. I outline a lot of the costs in the videos if you want to see what the rooms look like for that price. Let me know if you have more questions.

      Would you mind sharing what you paid spirit of kenya? I watched videos 1nt in navaisha, 3nts amboseli, unsure how many nts maasai mara..4? I don't think you completed safari every day. Did you ask more than one tour company to quote?

      Here are exact costs: 9 safari days - $160 USD per person per day = $2,880 USD. 2 nights at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge - $190 USD per person per night = $760 USD 1 night at Naivasha Sopa Lodge - $180 USD per person per night = $360 USD 5 nights at Mara Eden - $330 USD per person per night = $3,300 USD Vehicle - Upgrade to a Land Cruiser = $1,080 USD We contacted numerous companies and Spirit of Kenya seemed to be the best value. A lot of other places were way more expensive. We are not affiliated with Spirit of Kenya at all, but I do highly recommend going with them. Hope this helps!

      @ChrisChrisman thank you for detail. $8380 is an approximate total for 8 nights 🌙 two people. I reached out to Spirit of Kenya and received very quick response. I think prices increased a bit for 2025. We want 7nts safari and 3 nts DIANA beach mid August. Your videos were helpful. Great photos! I'm also checking out another firm based in the Netherlands. Hope to make decision soon. Happy travels! Monday I'm off to Bali then Thailand and a cruise on AMA DOWN the mekong.30 days.

      Wow, you are quite the traveler! You would love a safari. It was one of our most favorite trips. We stayed at Waterlovers in Diani Beach and it was great. We have a video on that if you have not watched it yet and should have some more Diani Beach videos out at some point. Thailand is amazing!! Enjoy Bali...we have never been, but looks wonderful. Have fun and safe travels and let me know if you have any more questions. Take care!
