Me, eating seaweed right now while watching this with side eyes
Me too
Sounds about right. Mmmhm dried wasabi seaweed
Legit! I was just eating some roasted seaweed snacks while watching haha.
Lol, yep.
And this is how sleazy unlicensed doctors attract clicks…
Well i just ate 5 packs of seaweed snacks 😋 🙃 🤒😵💀☠️
Will I just ate 8
These days I AM SCARED to eat...something in everything....
the kelps are meant to be used for broth, which reduces the iodine consumption per serving
Why South Korea and Japan doesnot have such findings considering that seaweed is basic in their daily food staple?
indirectly, it seems that caucasian bodies are different from asian ones. many western medical practices are different from oriental ones ( and maybe to other ancestries too). i moved from asia to na and they do things to their bodies i wont do to mine and my family doctor tells me to cut down on rice after getting my meal diary ( which ill never do). both work for each type. so maybe if you are east asian, these dry seaweeds wont kill you.
@@lamia.thira.lowenstein no need to spread pseudoscience. There’s never a significant difference between races to warrant extreme differences between food tolerances. Seaweed is safe, just make sure it’s from a reputable distributor and don’t eat too much.
@@lamia.thira.lowensteinuh huh 🙄
Koreans, Japanese, Chinese all have higher risk of stomach cancer
Seems like everything has something bad in it...geez
Humans have been here for 1000s of years. We’ve either developed some bad shit to put in because it’s cheaper, or we polluted the earth so much that some food sources are now irreparably contaminated and will only get worse as the human race continues to thrive.
😂😂😂 yeah eggs, water, spinach, meats, oysters 🦪 and on and on. Seems kinda like scam to me 🤷♂️. How could you detect something that is undetectable 😂 just at one point in video. But yeah to much I’d iodine could be bad kinda with everything isn’t it😊.
Everything in California has that label .. literally everything
As a native Californian, I can attest to that
Where are most of the products made!
Wonder if I just eat a pinch of sea kelp every week or so .. since a teaspoon is probably OVERloaded with too much iodine ..
I am eating one of those brands right now and on yours that had the warning but on mine it did not
Have there been studies of the effects on Japanese and Koreans especially for pregnancy and the effect on the fetus? If so, I am curious to know the results. Thank you.
I do know that lots of Korean's get stomach cancer
Is the gimme one safe? There is no warning on it
What's with the weird paywall to actually see what your tests say?
It’s called ‘bullshit’
It's a business, not a nonprofit or charitable endeavor.
Does anyone have information on iodione levels in store bought kombucha? Do they contain real kombucham, kombu or kelp which has extremely high iodine content?
wish you would have talked about the b12 content considering nori is the only known vegan source that provides a good amount of b12. that was completely left out.
nutritional yeast .... mushrooms....
@@alicec3942 Nutritional yeast only has notable amounts of b12 if fortified with it, not naturally. Mushrooms don’t reliably have b12 and when they do it’s not enough to meet daily requirements - you’d have to eat a LOT of Shiitake daily to get to the amount you need, which isn’t something most people can or will do.
@@calexprenas Why not just take a B12 supplement once a week? Their cheap af
@@rickybloss8537 sure you could do that, but the video was about the benefits and risks of seaweed and the vegan b12 is a benefit and a big deal for vegans. many people including myself prefer to get our nutrients as much as possible from food, and I assume those are the people who are likely watching this video. After all, you can get almost all nutrients in supplement forms - but that’s beside the point

Truly aggravates me when these doctors give their pros and cons about things we eat. One day something is good for you, the next day, "studies" show it's bad. Life is just a risk in general. If you're living and breathing, every second is a risk. I say eat what you want, in moderation, and if it makes you happy, go for it. These days, many recalls are happening with foods because of simple carelessness in stores, restaurants and even the manufacturing plant of the product. This is not paradise. Again, if it makes you happy, go for it. We get no where having fear about every little thing. I would be more concerned about what's on the conveyor machine and human hands.
How about Purtier Placenta Supplement? PLS. give enlightenment regarding this stem cell tablet. Thank you.
How about don’t put that in your body
I have low iodine levels due to my underactive thyroid. I might try eating those snacks. I've tried one before but was not ready for the fishy taste. Duh, it grows in the sea, I should have known.
OIrganic certified.. gold . NAC pulls out heavy metals and few other supplements as well too... ❤
Just when you think you found a healthy snack ughhh
Some brands like Gim have their iodine online but not on the package.. annoying. Damn i cant afford the subscription i hope gimme organic is heavy metal free
I have hypothyroidism do you think i should incorporate this, would the iodine help?
I can't remember if hypo is the one that makes your thyroid go on overdrive or too slow. The one that I've struggled with is the one that makes it hard to gain weight, but I have worked with my doctor, VERY closely because we monitored my levels throughout this whole process over the years, And I managed to lock it in pretty well. I gained 40 lbs over the past few years lol. 😅 Last time I tested it was starting to get out of whack, but I was also slipping on my seaweed routine.
Sooooo, it's definitely doable, but make sure to work with your doctor throughout the whole process. What got me on this path was my asking the active ingredients of the medication she wanted to put me on. It was a bunch of kinds of seaweed.
@@Diana05050 re-read my comment and you'll see.
I usually consume 1/2 Tsp (2-3 grams?) powdered Wakame seaweed daily. Is this ok?
You can take up 100mg. Don't pay this guy any mind. You are exposed halogens(fluoride, chlorine) in drinking water, bromine and in your food. Research Iodine Megadosing to get your health in order
how is eating something that filters water and stores it inside safe to consume at all?
I don't know but i eat it
I guess I am getting Iodine finally since I have been salt-free for years or only using Himalayan salt so the iodine in Gimme is good
Most people are greenwashe with the “certified organic” label on these which isn’t important for this matter. Needs to come from non-contaminated (no metals) water, lab-tested just like you would want to do for sea moss because our waters are loaded. There are some companies that do artificially grow the moss in pools so always be conscious of the source but it’s the metal testing that is most important which the pool growers won’t do anyway ! Happy healing ❤️🩹
which of those snacks are good
he can't tell you that! until you pay a monthly subscription of course....
I don’t think these really need lawsuits.
Think about it - just like when you buy fish or anything else, they didn’t know more than you do.
I think it’s important to work with the farmers, and not just be litigious for the sake of being litigious.
Farmers don’t go out of their way to poison people, or to just not put any brakes on their controls.
I think it’s important to have labels, but you have to understand hardly any farmer does anything just to be terrible, and they’re just trying to feed people. To give them what they need.
So even in the USDA organic ones!?
Yes, even products with the USDA organic seal had cadmium and/or lead contamination. Qualification for that seal does not involve testing for heavy metal contamination. We have seen this problem with other organic products.
You can find way harsher chems in pork beef and poultry even veggies. Gues everyone still kickin. Just a little overweight but thats ok.
damn but its hella delicious doe , is it safe if i ate 20g everyday ? not the contaminatinated one btw
Waaaah I though I had found a healthy snack 😢. I was actually browsing for recipes to make it cheaper 😅
Heavy iodine product seems good for nuclear war😅
Moderation.
Thank you. Simple as that one word for everyone! Best comment.
Thank you for that information. Other than eating sushi rolls, I think I'll pass on the seaweed.
♥️
HF ..Only here for serving size NOW, im just worried.. glad i only stuck my tongue to it 😂😂😮😂
You could probably just give that other pack of kelp a good lick and would be good for your iodine supplement ..
i want to see the amount for minimum daily consumption
He said 1100 µg of iodine per day is the upper limit. So you’ll have to look at your package and see how much iodine he will be getting in a serving.
Is it okay to not eat seaweed snacks for around 1 or 2 weeks and then eat 15 grams in a day? I kind of started doing that and after watching this I fear for my wellbeing. (just a sidenote, I am not an adult, I am a teenager)
As it’s only occasionally that you do this (eating about 3 servings in one day), it’s probably okay as long as it’s not a kelp snack, which can be extremely high in iodine.
I've been eating about 300 g of seaweed snacks a day. Is there any risk?
@@femmebrulee5053 I'm not an expert, but I believe that is wayyy too much. I think that 65 grams is already the daily limit and you shouldn't even be eating that much for a prolonged period of time. How long have you been eating 300g per day for?
@@monkey-yy8bk it's not consistent but about 6 months. Sometimes I would eat 4 of those snack packs a day, sometimes more, a WHOLE LOT more so much so that when I went into the Trader Joe's they knew exactly what I was there to buy. I had COVID last year and it destroyed my digestive system. I went from being able to eat everything to not being able to eat any dairy, any food with canola oil, processed food, just any food I couldn't digest without taking a handful of probiotics, betaine HCl, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, dandelion tea, kombucha, ginger, garlic, tumeric, cilantro. I came across seaweed snacks by accident and they didn't irritate my system and I didn't have to take any digestive supplement so I was eating them as basically a meal supplement. I cut them (seaweed snacks) out about 3 months ago. Because I started having strange health problems/symptoms. I never attributed it to seaweed. I thought it was just remnants of COVID (long covid). To resolve it I started only eating my previous diet of salads with only veggies and only a little chicken breast. No breads, no pasta, no rice, very few carbs, no sugar, no dairy, no seaweed. Then my symptoms went away. But then I went back to seaweed about 2 months ago. But I'm having similar health problems again now. I'm wondering if it's heavy metals.
@@monkey-yy8bk I think she was just jerking your leg.
Thank you, I will stick with Kale.
As long it doesn’t have polluted, bugs, or plastic, I am fine.
Just heavy metals so you should be fine 😅
Can a 1 year old eat it? my baby love it😓
I wouldn’t give it to a baby.
Excellent analysis. To be on the safe side, I am not eating any of these products.
Are you a licensed doctor?
I have an MD from Boston University School of Medicine and have focused my career on researching health products. I do not see patients or maintain a license to practice medicine.
At least someone in here who claims to be a doctor is really a doctor!! I have seen so many people hate on certain things claiming they are bad for you or are highly toxic. They claim to be doctors or work for scientific labs that study this stuff. It turns out that they just do not like the stuff they say is bad for you and are lying about being doctors.
I do have another question. If you get hour seaweed farther out at sea does it still contain harmful chemicals and toxins?
Store up some incase
of nuclear war come
true. 😂
Boo....what about American cheese cake??? Sugar is #1 causes Cancer‼️Please don't talk negative about Asian seaweed snacks. Me eating entire giant bag. Yummy 😋
🤣
Buy organic seaweed..
