Jack never really knew how to communicate or be caring and compassionate in the right moments. He always did the right thing for the group and was a great person but was really bad at intimate relationships

Kate seemes not to be very happy after all. The only interesting message is, Jack identified himself with sawyer - both loved her and wanted to protect her through preventing her to follow like she used to do the whole time. But more interesting is, before -Juliet' s first attack to switch between sawyer and kate -through lying and pretending to go for some weapons. O yes, she had own plans.
Kate-WAS NOT-NOT HAPPY. She was surprised and confused. She had just seen Juliet and Jack kiss. She felt jealous and closed down after that. Kate never felt she was good enough for Jack.
As Juliet says later, "he kissed me because he loves someone else". Jack was trying to move on from Kate. In his mind her and Sawyer were a thing and he never expected to see them again since he planned to leave the island with Juliet. Basically Juliet was his rebound girl. Why Jack is telling her he loves her now? Perhaps Jack recognizes he and Juliet won't last and Kate is the one he wants. I agree tho this could have been written better to make a more understandable reason for him to tell this to her now.
Understandable and after rewatching Lost i think Kate and Sawyer is what you would call the perfect onscreen couple. Also the fact that Kate and Sawyer literally lived a life together and grew old together is dismissed alot of times.

@@ebrony2355 the fact that something is little doesn't mean that is bad...actually it could mean the opposite. And complicated doesn't mean better, and at least in my opinion the first two seasons were great and they should have made a third one to close it on a high level.
