West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has offered to resign amid protests over the rape and murder of a 31-year-old junior doctor at the R.G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. "For people's sake, I am ready to resign; I also want justice for murdered RG Kar hospital doctor," Banerjee told the media. She was scheduled to take part in a meeting with the protesting doctors. Though, the 30-member delegation of junior doctors refused to enter the meeting room without agreeing for a live telecast of the meeting. Referring to the proliferation of anti-government messages on social media, she said, "Our government has been insulted. Common people do not know there is a political colour to it". Bengal CM also voiced her concern about the patients who have been suffering as the doctors continued their strike even after the Supreme Court ordered them to report back to their duties.
