He is the reason for Grizzlies increasing popularity and for himself. In Wikipedia, Grizzlies individual awards, Morant has many awards. Grizzlies also are my favourite team in Nba. When you say Ja was "already good" last year you're confusing the hype and the spectacular highlights with his overall play. He wasn't even yet good enough to be an All Star reserve, and this year he'll probably be 2nd Team All NBA. Dude literally increased his PER from 16.7 to 24.4, and added about 8 points per 36 minutes. No one else improved as much as that. And other players got 1st place votes. No one was shortchanged.

Pooles, Banes, and Maxey's increase in minutes should naturally have increased production. Murray Ja and Garland should be the only ppl in real consideration for this award. Agreed tho that Ja being a MVP candidate kinda should eliminate him from consideration of MIP.
Sometimes they overthink it. Sometimes they give it to a guy whose minutes went way up and his stats went up proportionally. And sometimes they just give it to whoever increased their points per 36 minutes by about 8 and their PER by about 7.
I love ja morant and I want him to succeed in his career but I think Darius garland deserves this award I mean going from bust and being forgotten to getting an all star selection and carried his team and did everything he could to win but I do think that ja is better
