Speaking as someone who rode Wild Mouse, that is one of the best wild mouse coasters I’ve ridden. I love the intense turns and lack of pain along with the beautiful view of Sydney Harbor. Awesome ranking.
Not counting distance to other countries, Australia has a very solid lineup. Big Dipper, Steel Taipan, Abyss, Superman, and DC Rivals provide Australia with several thrilling and unique models with plenty more rounding out the lineup. Compared to countries like Canada, Spain, Brazil, and even India, Australia in my opinion reigns supreme. That's to say, the United States, Japan, China, etc. all decimate it.
For our population and distance from the rest of the world, we're doing pretty well. What makes it difficult to be a coaster enthusiast in Australia is, as you mentioned, distance to other countries, and lack of quantity. But we do have some great coasters! Thanks for watching!
Totally agree, DC rivals as no 1. Riding backwards is well worth paying the extra $30 and is much more fun. Having this option makes it like two totally different rides. Not to mention you you won’t have to wait long in the reverse seat line. I have ridden the Leviathan and this is a great coaster, the way they have designed the whole entry to the loading platform really sets the mood. Something you need to see for yourself. Needless to say, there is something about a wooden coaster that is hard to match. There is a reverse facing option as well. I haven’t tried it myself. Thanks for your reviews
Hi! Good video! You just earned yourself a new subscriber (me)! I'm also an Aussie coaster enthusiast but for some reason I haven't ridden Steel Taipan or DC Rivals yet! EDIT: I've now ridden DC Rivals, and I can confidently say that it is OVERRATED.
I completely disagree with DC Rivals being overrated. Even if you like other coasters better, I don't think there's any argument that DC Rivals isn't a great coaster, which is exactly how people rate it.
Did you ever ride the Demon at Australia's Wonderland (now demolished to build housing estate), or the cork screw which used to be at Seaworld? If so, where would they rank out of all the coasters you've ridden? I was last at Seaworld on the Gold Coast in 2004 they were building the Bermuda Triangle. Yesterday (Jan 2023) I visited again, but it had been demolished, so I never got to ride it.
Unfortunately Wonderland closed when I was still too young to ride most coasters. I never got on the Corkscrew either, but I did just ride a very similar ride in Korea which I will provide a review on soon!
I was a frequent rider of The Demon..... absolutely loved it... my stomach churned every single time... I miss Wonderland soooo much and still to this day dream that the place is secretly still open... ps. It wasn’t a housing estate that was built, it is a commercial business park.
@@brettyg76 yeah I liked the Demon too, was awesome. The pirate ship that went full circle around and used to hang you upside down for what felt like a few minutes, but in reality maybe 20 seconds, was the ride which churned my stomach. Still rode it multiple times each day I was there. Thanks for letting me know about the commercial business park was constructed and not residential. Such a shame that Sydney lost the Wonderland, I look forward to the day a new park opens, but I'm not holding my breath.
As someone a bit late to this world, Abyss was the first ever rollercoaster I ever road and it's still probably one of my favourites. Haven't been in ages though.
DC Rivals is my favourite, particularly riding in the front. Superman’s restraints really impact the enjoyment and comfort of the ride. I’d love to see Dreamworld build Australia’s first giga-coaster along the lines of Orion, Millennium Force or Fury325 - something with massive camelbacks, a real airtime machine.
superman escape looks like of those not-quite rita clones that intamin built in the '00s. surprisingly many of the accelerators follow that launch into figure-8 with s-hills type of layout, this one obviously has the extra top hat and has sacrificed the last bunny hill because the station is placed differently so they could put in the dark ride section before the launch. in this sense, even something like formula rossa is basically just scaled-up rita. it just has a lot of extra hills in the end because it has to make a very long way back to the station, but the basic idea of the layout is the same
@@MaloneysCoasters nice! my home park heide park in germany also has a near-clone of rita, which i personally think is an amazing ride, but other people don't seem to rate as highly
While what we have in Australia may seem mediocre compared to places like Europe and North America, we still have far more here then many other parts of the world. For the landmass, isolated location and small population, it's outstanding. Spare a thought for New Zealand, which has only one coaster that was built in 1985. Plus, our coaster scene is expanding crazy fast, with about 7 new coasters popping up around the country in just the last few years. It's definitely an exciting time.
No arguments there! It's better than it ever has been and still growing. The more important factor in why it's a difficult place to live as an enthusiast is the distance from everywhere else. Thanks for watching!
@@MaloneysCoasters I hear you there. It's tough having so many amazing rides be so far away. Asia isn't too outrageously expensive to travel to from Australia, if you go in the off peak times. I understand it's still a big trip though, it's not like you can just hop over for the weekend.
Now that Leviathan has opened I'd love to see where you place it. For me its easily the 2nd best in the country and absolutely my favourite coaster that I've been on. It hauls over that first drop in the back and the triple down is nuts combined with some absurd transitions that feel like you've been hit by a truck and you have one of the most enjoyable coasters in the country. Excited to see how it holds up to other coasters overseas when I go next year.
I'll be headed back in February. Unfortunately I was there in December during the week when it was down due to technical issues, so I didn't get to ride
I thought nothing could beat DC rivals coaster, that was until a few weeks ago when I rode “The Leviathan”…. It’s got such good air time, wood all around you, you never know which way you are going to turn next and so intense from start to finish. 👏
i went on dc forward and back and leviathan forward and back. Dc rivals backwards is insane and the craziest drop nothing has beat it. Leviathan was really good but quite jolty and it gave me a headache. there were some good air time on the dips but dc rivals is just too smooth and so much better
DC Rivals is by far more intense than Steel Taipan. I agree Taipan is quite a smooth ride, but Rivals has a lot more forceful elements, particularly the airtime. Highly recommend them both though. Thanks for watching!
I cannot believe how stupidly close I got to riding Scenic Railway just to have to turn around and leave within 15 minutes of getting there... Hubby and I went to Melbourne back in 2015 and we made the tram ride to Luna Park, paid for entry, spent 10 minutes in the park and THEN my hubby told me he hadn't been feeling well all morning and he went down hard and fast with food poisoning and we had to bail... Never made it back to Luna Park before the end of our trip...
Thank you so much for this. I really want to go on the DC Rivals Hypercoaster, even if I have to swallow several boxes of motion sickness tablets to do it. The last proper roller coaster I went on was the Big Dipper at Luna Park, Sydney- back when it was still made of wood. It’s been a long time between drinks.
@@MaloneysCoasters I can’t remember much other than it making a sort of clickity clack noise, too be honest - it wasn’t exactly quiet. It was a long time ago. It was exciting, though. Just rode Taipan yesterday and was thinking I like DC Rivals better. Glad to have someone else have the same opinion as me. Reading the comments, I would definitely try The Leviathan!
im 12 and i rode the big dipper 😂 my 18 year old sister was scared tbh i was nervous too but after you hop off me and my sisters wanted to go on again but we got a headache, the big dipper does not have shoulder protection so when the 360 loop comes your head pulls forwards 😪

Nice video, I haven't been able to do any of the rides down south yet. But I have done everyone on the Gold Coast and filmed them. So if you want to see them I have them and more on my channel. Plus a playlist of just rides. Plus a playlist list of full walk though of every park last year, when they were almost empty.
So I just got back to Melbourne from a trip to the Gold Coast and I did a quick trip to Sydney back in May. So now I've now ridden all of the Coasters on this list except for the Tower Of Terror. And yeah DC Rivals is on a whole other level. Scooby Doo was rough. I don't know if I was just annoyed by the fact it was my longest wait of the trip. So by the time I rode it. I found Superman Escape not that great. I didn't like the restraints too. They were banging into my neck. Sea World's Coasters were great. I can't for Leviathan. I reckon it'll be the number 2 best Coaster in Australia. Dreamworlds Coasters except for Steel Taipan were awful. Gold Coaster gave me a headache and was the only Coaster to make me feel nauseous. Motocoaster is just bad in everyway. The family Coaster was the 2nd Coaster in the park I'd rank my top 10 so far 1 DC Rivals 2 Steel Taipan 3 Big Dipper 4 Jetski 5 Green Lantern 6 Storm Coaster 7 Superman Escape 8 Thunderbolt (Defunct Dreamworld ride) 9 Metropolis (defunct Luna Park Melb ride) 10 either the roadrunner Coaster at Movie World or the Boomerang Coaster at Luna Park Syd BTW the new Coasters at Gumbuya World are Project Zero and it's where the Buzzsaw has been relocated to. It has Green track now. The other is T.N.T a Verkoma suspended family Coaster and has the same layout as Dragonflier at Dollywood. Victoria needs better Coasters but!
You know what makes me laugh I went on the superman coaster in movie world and you said it will keep your head back but when I went on it I kept smacking my chin like a million times on the seat thing that keeps you in the seat
After riding Leviathan quite a few times I personally gotta say it definitely is my favourite coaster I've ridden in Australia by some margin and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it
I like how Sea World Australia is completely unrelated to the Seaworld parks here in the States yet is in almost all respects the same park as Seaworld San Antonio. Jet Rescue is Wave Breaker. Leviathan is Texas Stingray. Storm Coaster is Journey to Atlantis. And then SpongeBob's Boating School Blast is Super Grover's Box Car Derby. All they are missing is a mini-hyper and an invert.
Great list! I would like to hear your opinion on The Gold Coaster because quite a few Aussie coaster fans hate it for some reason. I'm looking forward to what you think of Leviathan.
I don't necessarily hate it. There are a few janky transitions and it's a little rough, but the vest restraints make it much better than it used to be. It just isn't quite in my top ten
@@MaloneysCoasters yeah backwards is insane the thing which creeps me out about giant drop the whole build up kills me even know I have done it more times then I can count and it doesn't tell you when it drops so I'm always holding on for dear life 🤣and the drop is just insane
Just got back from gold coast after a 8 day trip. Wishing I was still there after this video. I've done all these except the Melbourne Luna pk one. Next stop Cedar point! Who's with me!?
Be glad you don't live in NZ with our 4 or 5 coasters. Love me some Superman Escape. It still holds up to the rest of the Intamin Accelerators out there in my opinion. Have done Kingda Ka, Formula Rossa, Stormrunner and Xcelerator. They're all different obviously, but Superman Escape is still amazing even though it doesn't have the fastest launch. Did the original Blue Fire about a month ago at Europa Park and it was pretty good. Yet to get on Steel Taipan though. DC Rivals is as good as we'll get down under. Even though DC Rivals is the best coaster in Australia, I still find myself enjoying Superman more.
It definitely varies between those top three as to which I enjoy more. Some might say I rate Steel Taipan too highly, but I just think it's a load of fun, especially with the spinning seats. Haven't managed to get to NZ yet, but Rainbow's End is on the list of upcoming coaster trips! Thanks for watching!
@@MaloneysCoasters I can imagine Steel Taipan with the spinning seats to be a different beast. Did the Mack extreme spinner Ride To Happiness recently and it's definitely quite unique. Even in standard Blue Fire Clone mode it should still be pretty good. I've had a few trips booked over to Aus to do it with the opening of Leviathan, but that opening date keeps sliding. Even saw it pretty much finished last year in June. Would be interesting to see where Leviathan would rank. It'll all depend on how rough it would ride. It'll probably need a retrack by the time it opens at this rate.
As an enthusiast from the uk, I must say that you are lucky to have so many launch coasters but unlucky lack large coasters. In the uk the problem is that pretty much all coasters aren’t tall, generic or lack forces.
Hello 👋 This is my personnel opinion on the top ten best coasters in Australia (When I am making this the Leviathan at Sea World has opened 10: Wild Mouse at Luna Park Sydney 9: Jet Rescue at Sea World 8: Steel Taipan at Dream World 7: Big Dipper at Luna Park Sydney 6: Storm Coaster at Sea World 5: Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster Next Generation at Warner Bros Movie World 4: Green Lantern Coaster at Warner Bros Movie World 3: Superman Escape at Warner Bros Movie World 2: Leviathan at Sea World 1: DC Rivals Hypercoaster at Warner Bros Movie World
Me too! Intamin seem to be the manufacturer our parks like working with most, so it would be great if they could build us a great new launch coaster or something similar soon! Thanks for watching!
I hope that Mack can make Project Exodus at Thorpe Park in England just as good as DC Rivals looks like. If it turns out to be even better then I think it has a shot at being world's best, seeing how good DC Rivals is.
Did you ever ride Arkham asylum before they removed it? I personally would have put it before superman if it wasn’t so bumpy as it was in its later years but I think it was definitely an amazing coaster worthy of the list! And have you seen the announcement of 2 new coasters for movieworld sadly they will be family coasters replacing Arkham but atleast we will have some new coasters to try
Yeah I did ride Arkham! Personally, I find roughness to be a personal pet-peeve on roller coasters. I found Arkham to be really tough to ride, but I do understand why people liked it. It was super intense, and I loved that, but I couldn't get past the pain! I'm very excited about Movie World's new coasters! Hopefully I'll be headed up there when they open!
i dont know if u knew but the new green roller coaster at gumbya world is actually the buzzsaw from dreamworld as they sold it there instead of scrapping it
just came back the gold coast. i didnt want to ride dc rivals backwards because i felt for my mum paying $60 for me and my brother to ride it but now i regret it
If DC rivals is one if the most thrilling you have been on, go to Fuji-Q Highlands, their coasters have broken several world records. e.g. "Do Dodonpa" which hits 112 km/ph in 1.6 secs (._. .
went on project zero and TNT and gumbuya world. TNT is a good family coaster, good starter for people scared of coasters. project zero is the same as buzzsaw
We went to movie world today and honestly the Superman was super fast probably the scaryest besides the joker 1st drop which was mad 😆 I rode the demon in Australia wonderland theme park when I was a kid now I'm old I get scared
my list is this. #1 DCR and ST (they are both so different I like them the same) #2 Tower of Terror ll #3 green lantern #4 superman. (that launch is great but I feel like this ride is very overrated) #5 Scooby doo (very ruff at the end) have not been to any other parks is aus rn
Comforting to know there are other Aussie coaster nerds that recognize our sad lot in life. Us West Aussies definitely have it worse, but at least Abyss is pretty great.
no need to worry guys the scooby-doo ride is currently upgrading a 4M upgrade i went on it and i was crying after (the old one ) as the scooby-doo is still in constuction❤
Super man escape before the launch: Don’t worry folks, there’s only one way out of this mess, it’s back, I’ll push you out of here, fast, superman fast! (And then you go 100km/hr or 62mph.)
It does have some severe operational problems! I'm thinking about making some videos doing a deep dive on Australian coasters and their operations, so stay tuned!
Yes it is. The records that Scenic Railway claims are the SECOND-OLDEST roller coaster in the world, and the oldest CONTINUALLY OPERATING coaster, because Leap the Dips was SBNO between 1985 and 1999. Scenic Railway has operated continuously since 1912. Thanks for watching!

The family Coaster was the 2nd Coaster in the park
I'd rank my top 10 so far
1 DC Rivals
2 Steel Taipan
3 Big Dipper
4 Jetski
5 Green Lantern
6 Storm Coaster
7 Superman Escape
8 Thunderbolt (Defunct Dreamworld ride)
9 Metropolis (defunct Luna Park Melb ride)
10 either the roadrunner Coaster at Movie World or the Boomerang Coaster at Luna Park Syd
BTW the new Coasters at Gumbuya World are Project Zero and it's where the Buzzsaw has been relocated to.
My top favourites have definitely got to be the tower of terror, Dc rivals hyper coaster (especially backwards) and the leviathan
After riding Leviathan quite a few times I personally gotta say it definitely is my favourite coaster I've ridden in Australia by some margin and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it
My favourite coaster in Australia is always going to be the DC Rivals. It's not going to change anymore. DC rivals will always be my fav
Interesting observation! And if you could send us the mini-hyper and the invert as soon as possible, that would be great!
@@MaloneysCoasters You've already got DC Rivals right down the road. Could definitely use an invert tho!
GO ON THE ABYSS YOU'LL LOVE IT FR I'M IN WA
i know its not a coaster but the most terrifying ride in the gold coast is the giant drop. it makes rivals seem like a walk in the park
It’s definitely intimidating, but Rivals backwards always gets my stomach fluttering too!
@@MaloneysCoasters yeah backwards is insane the thing which creeps me out about giant drop the whole build up kills me even know I have done it more times then I can count and it doesn't tell you when it drops so I'm always holding on for dear life 🤣and the drop is just insane
I recentally went to movie and i saw this Dc rivals roller coaster, i was so scared to ride this coaster and one day i will bro. Thanks
One of the two new coasters at Gumbuya world IS buzz saw! They bought it from dreamworld.
Yup! I'm headed down in March to check it out!
How do you think I feel I live in Ireland with one theme park
Hello 👋
This is my personnel opinion on the top ten best coasters in Australia (When I am making this the Leviathan at Sea World has opened
10: Wild Mouse at Luna Park Sydney
9: Jet Rescue at Sea World
8: Steel Taipan at Dream World
7: Big Dipper at Luna Park Sydney
6: Storm Coaster at Sea World
5: Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster Next Generation at Warner Bros Movie World
4: Green Lantern Coaster at Warner Bros Movie World
3: Superman Escape at Warner Bros Movie World
2: Leviathan at Sea World
1: DC Rivals Hypercoaster at Warner Bros Movie World
Agree with your top 3👍
Cool! :D
Leviathan is Def my number one in aus, very unfortunate you missed it in December
Stay tuned, I'll be back!
I saw me and my dad on the video of jet on here!
My son just is 130cms we did Joker 13 times today it is the most insane experience try and get either the front or the back for max rush
What about the Titan from Expo '88!!! 😅😂
I hope that Intamin can really step up in Australia.
Me too! Intamin seem to be the manufacturer our parks like working with most, so it would be great if they could build us a great new launch coaster or something similar soon! Thanks for watching!
Superman is an awesome coaster. Proud of WB
I hope that Mack can make Project Exodus at Thorpe Park in England just as good as DC Rivals looks like. If it turns out to be even better then I think it has a shot at being world's best, seeing how good DC Rivals is.
Project Exodus seems like it has such an interesting layout, it could definitely be fantastic!
This was exactly my list before I moved from au to nz
Hope you make it to the Abyss XD
i dont know if u knew but the new green roller coaster at gumbya world is actually the buzzsaw from dreamworld as they sold it there instead of scrapping it
I did know that. I'm planning a trip once both of Gumbuya's new coasters open. Thanks for watching!
i love the storm cooaster
I like it all but my fav is storm
coaster
Buzz saw was removed from dream-world and being relocated to a park in Victoria. Great video overall though
I'm very excited for it to open, and the new Vekoma SFC too. I'll be taking a road trip down there for sure! Thanks for watching!
just came back the gold coast. i didnt want to ride dc rivals backwards because i felt for my mum paying $60 for me and my brother to ride it but now i regret it
for me its best : dc rivals , leviathen , green lantern , bigg dipper , superman escape , jet rescue , road runner , storm out ofthe ones iv rode
If DC rivals is one if the most thrilling you have been on, go to Fuji-Q Highlands, their coasters have broken several world records. e.g. "Do Dodonpa" which hits 112 km/ph in 1.6 secs (._. .
Watch this space...
@@MaloneysCoasters btw I got it wrong it's not 112 kmph... its 112 mph...
That's like 180kmph... in 1.6 sec
went on project zero and TNT and gumbuya world.
#1 DCR and ST (they are both so different I like them the same)
#2 Tower of Terror ll
#3 green lantern
#4 superman. (that launch is great but I feel like this ride is very overrated)
#5 Scooby doo (very ruff at the end)
have not been to any other parks is aus rn
Interesting picks! Thanks for watching!
@@MaloneysCoasters epic video! good too see Aus coasters get some credit!
It’s scheduled to reopen in 2025! Can’t wait to reride it!
Least the Scooby ride is getting redone now.
Super man escape before the launch: Don’t worry folks, there’s only one way out of this mess, it’s back, I’ll push you out of here, fast, superman fast! (And then you go 100km/hr or 62mph.)
Do one on the states bro,
I’d love to go first so that I can make up my mind which of the many coasters I like best 😍
Went on DC rivals 3 times I didn't care for the 90 min wait
It does have some severe operational problems! I'm thinking about making some videos doing a deep dive on Australian coasters and their operations, so stay tuned!
bro the joker is the only hypercoaster in the southern hemisphere
Yep! And it's my number one on this list!
How to keep hat, sunglass, m phone while roller coaster
Don't.
I love living in Australia
Leap the dips at Belmont Park is 120 years old
@@MaloneysCoasters I've done scenic r'way in Melbourne, well, St.Kilda many times during my teens, that's over 40 years ago. If memory works, I think we had mad mouse, that was a whippy ride, qld, Dreamworld has changed quite a lot over 30 years, after 4 hours waiting on T o T it broke, hell of a long walk down and basically a wasted day. Did a lot of Movie World and they've changed too, Batman, Lethal Weapon, Superman, there's another 1 I've forgotten. Each one had it's own unique characteristics, L/W you hung from, that was cool.
Great presentation well done
Where is the gold coaster
I don't rate the Gold Coaster due to its roughness and some janky transitions. It's alright, just not in my top ten
I’ve been on heaps of them
Dude the scooby Doo ride has actually been closed
It’s closed for a refurbishment and will reopen in 2025
DC Rocks Too
Please do germany
Im from NZ. Our single one, is short as can possibly be. But does do one twist and a loop. Its pathetic. Its when you look at fun parks you realize what a boon dock NZ really is. I like it here tho.
I'm planning on heading to NZ later in the year if I can! Looking forward to visiting Rainbow's End, while it's not much on the surface, I think it looks like a very charming park with a nice collection of rides :)
taipan is blue fire but orange
And with the swing launch instead of just a single launch, but other than that, yeah it's a clone.
I'm surprise giant drop is not on this list.
Giant Drop is not technically a roller coaster. But it is a great ride! Thanks for watching!
If I’m being honest green lantern is scarier than dc rivals
Controversial 😉
Project Zero is Buzzsaw
Crazy to think I have 20 coasters 10 minutes from my front door at SFMM, when an entire continent only has 26 operating coasters. (also adjust the volume of your intro music, it is much louder than your commentary, it's a bit of a jump scare lol)
Noted, thanks haha
