I'm a dealer so I see the wholesale prices day by day. All those prices are salvage title or down payments. They all sell for more than listed here at dealer auctions. Trust me, I'm there watching them roll by.
Yeah, like just because they found one for a low price they say you can buy one for that price. Not true and even more untrue the higher they go in price.
LMAO y'all just don't know where to look... Been helping friends and family buy used car for the past couple years and the most recent one was 2 months ago. Bought some of the car on this list for under 5k and run like new. No issue on any of the cars that was bought.
I have a 2007 Accord V6 fully loaded and it’s fun to drive and I drove it from Maryland to New York with no issues and on one tank I highly recommend buying one

My dad's first Avalon went 330k miles without costing him anything more than basic maintenance. His current Avalon is pushing 400k miles and still hasn't cost him much at all to own. It's not fun to drive, at all, but if you want miles for cheap, I'd recommend it highly.
My parents had two Avalons. First one went 327k before selling it (nothing but regular maintenance). Second one went 297k before air went out and my dad sold it. Most reliable car ever made and it’s not statistically arguable.
Where I live even the civics and corollas over 300K miles go for nearly 8 grand sadly. Also be careful what civic you pick, maybe I was just unlucky but I managed to blow 2 d17a1 engines in a 2003 civic lx in just under two years, even with proper maintenance.
I have a 2007 Toyota Avalon, gave it to my mom, one of the best cars I've ever had (made in Japan, $9000 bucks used), soft ride, 260HP V6 that gets 30mpg high way, Timing Chain, ROOMIEST CAR I've been in. 0:54 2003-2008 is actually more reliable. But if you must go for this generation, I'd suggest 2011 or newer. Quality went up over 2009 and 2010, and the few issues they had (mainly water pump failures) were resolved.
Personally one of the most reliable cars in the automotive history is the Volvo Brand which runs in the sixties over 5 Million Miles ahead of all the car brands.
I don't know why it's rarely included, but what about the early 2000s model of the panther car. IE Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis/Marauder, Lincoln Town Car? All were great cars with essentially mustang engines and actually get decent fuel mileage. Thanks for the video though!
Not sure where your source for pricing comes from, but any or all of these vehicles are twice as high out in Colorado with the one exception of 300K mile vehicles of which nobody wants .
If you live in any sizeable metro area, then these prices are completely unavailable. I had to go out way country to find a cheap Corolla, and it's rusted and beat up🙁but runs great😊but $5000 in the city? No way!
Always forgetting the mid engine Corolla from 2000-2005, they have gotten more expensive in the last few years but a good manual that needs minor paint or seat covering can be had for under 5k, they run as long as the Corolla since the use the same engine and trans but they handle like a excelling everyday car enthusiasts' dream Lambo or Ferrari...don't buy the smt version as the automated manual was production forced to keep up with BMW smg and paddle shit/slap shift options becoming options on most upscale cars in the y2k era....before the r and d proved longevity THE FORGOTTEN zzw30 MR2 Spyder is a gem of a choice for anyone looking to feel exotic driving feel for barley more than Corolla type cash
Hyundai is straight up trash and they do not care about their customers! My wife had a 2014 Elantra with 74K miles, the thing was a death trap that even local Hyundai dealership didnt have a clue what was wrong even after "fixing it" and braking down 3 times. We went as far as contacting corporate to get told they wouldn't help us. This went on for weeks and no rental car was provided. Ended up selling it and never will we buy anything from them
Honda civic that old you need to be checking the sub frames for corrosion ,especially if you buy near the ocean, most cars that old you better be replacing the transmissions and clutch, they look great on top but seals and suspension joints are perished, and most have been ragged in the streets and modified, your`l be spending more on it than you paid in the long run unless been garaged and taken care of,
Nissans are _definitely_ not known for reliability, and upping the cost of ownership with that silly Infiniti badge is an even bigger mistake Good luck.
Scotty Kilmer has left the room. An 010 Corolla with 200+ K on the odo still sells for 10K in Canada, instead get the Yaris or 2 gen Prius, Used Civics are a hit or miss, I'd go for a Honda FIT. Nice Accords are also big money, especially the low mileage ones. Also be careful with used Camrys! Many we used as taxi cab / ride share, like Uber. Instead get a high mileage Matrix that's not rusted out. If you are a mechanic, get a BMW 3 series with a 6 cyl engine, The older ones re actually reliable. Stay away from older VW especially the made in Mexico models. Elantras can be fun and practical with the manual tranny. An Older CRV is viable, 2004, 05, 06, if you can find one that's not rusted to pieces. Avalons are nice and comfy + super reliable, but can be heavy on gas in city driving. Mazda 3 between 2010 and 2013 are avail for under 5k, Fun and reliable cars, plus comes in a hatchback, which is also practical.
Sorry - disagree with you on the Honda Civic - mine started burning oil at 80K, a know problem with every year Civic. Also the windshield wipers are stuck in an odd position (Honda knows about this, but won't fix it , they want $300). The driver's seat belt is another issue - it easily gets stuck and mine has gotten stuck where I can't open the driver's door. Again this is a known issue. The Civic is small and cramped. If you are over 6 foot good luck. My friend owns a Corolla - it's not as sporty, but way more leg room and easier to get in and out of. His just turned 300K, without issues, and his wife's Toyota Camry has almost 400K. I know Honda has a good reputation, but my next car will be a Toyota. By the way I've owned Honda's since 1977. I think their quality has gone down hill.
Surprised that those olive-green Chevy Vegas with the brown, faux-wood panels didn't make the list. 🤔 By the way, for those who don't know: It was one of GM's first aluminum-block engines... so the joke back in the '70s while pulling up to the gas attendant was "Fill'er up the oil and coolant, and check the gas, please."
Everyone talks bad about the MK7 fiesta but tbh I've got one and it's a good bit of fun and I'm averaging high 30's to the gallon even though I'm riding at 80mph most times
Nissan VG33 engine.. REALLY? Not only that it gets horrible fuel mileage, but it couldn't get out of a wet paper bag. Random misfires and that's most likely the fuel injector nozzles. Just changing the spark plugs suck. The one in the back of the engine. Distributor has a 100% failure rate.
