    Looks like you have that choke set to pure rich. Mercarb should be set to lean and adjust from there. The heater to the left in the video with the 1 wire is where you adjust. unscrew the 3 screws a little and turn that all the way to the right and the choke will open more. then tighten and start it and just keep adjust that from there. It's just choking itsself out is what is happening.

    I bought my boat used it sat 3 yrs prior, bought new battery it fired up n purred, took it out on water and after couple hrs it wouldn’t start, got it running with pouring fuel in carb but kept stalling at idle, it still is stalling if try to idle, did full tune up n installed electric fuel pump still stalling, I’m thinking junk in carb, oh my cab is always full open n not closed n flapping like his I noticed??

      His issue ended up being electrical. I can’t remember the exact timeline now but his boat sunk at his dock prior to this I believe. For your issue, since it sat 3 years, it sounds like a plugged carb. I’m not so sure about boat motors but for other smaller motors (atv, mower, chainsaw, etc) a lot of times the fuel lines will get clogged from the tank to the carb so double check you’re getting adequate flow into the carb. Hope that helps some.

      it ended up being something electrical I think. I posted the videos for my boss to show his mechanic so not positive of the outcome. I do know that the boat got submerged prior to this during a local storm.

    Is the choke supposed to flutter and move like that? Mine stays in one position and my engine isn't running good

    • @seanhendrick6074
      @seanhendrick6074  2 роки тому +1

      I’m by no means an expert on it but I believe It’s supposed to be able to move to restrict or allow airflow. In the video he may have been playing with it causing it to move but not positive.

      Unless you’re trying to start your boat with temperatures below 40°F you do not need a choke! What most people do not realize is that these carburetors were never meant to run with modern day fuels! I have a 4.3 V6 in my boat with a 2 barrel Rochester with all of the choke components removed, I have never had an issue firing up my engine!

      @@NeverEnoughPyro40 man I hear that, my boat is running great now, and only has problems starting when it's cold and the choke is closed. I always have to manually open the choke after priming the throttle a few times. Here in AL so it's always hot.

    at 2:58 you'll see an arc spark jumping below the throttle lever.... definitely grounding the engine!!!!
