    I love my tekton stuff. I trust the tools enough to be my truck tool box tools. AMAZING WARRANTY, great price, quality is fantastic, and no skip sets 👌🏼

    I just bought a 19mm angle head wrench from them to fill in an existingset I have. Made in the USA, and it's absolutely one of the nicest made wrenches that I've ever seen.

    I acquired a Tekton set of 4 flex ratchets on Amazon for less than $100.00 a couple of years ago, but now is out of stock. The set included a 1/4, an extended 3/8, an extended 1/2, and a stubby 3/8. They were well-crafted with small (and flat) heads, smooth 90-tooth mechanisms, and very little back drag. I don't use the 1/2 ratchet as much as the 1/4 and 3/8 ones, which are very helpful in tight spaces. Overall, I really enjoy using these ratchets!

    I agree I love Tekton. They were ground breaking when they came out. I wish more brands offered the range and no skip. The prices are going up. I usually start with them then see who can come close see what I am missing and compare the price. Quinn came out with a 3/8 and 1/4 socket set directly after tekton, for a fraction of the price.

      Ya agreed. I always used to go to tekton first and see what I needed. Now I do a little more comparing. With all the available brands and tools now I can usually find great deals on many brands

    I love the Tekton stuff I have; and I do have quite a bit.
    I thought they were on the verge of being "The New Craftsman"; ie a solidly good affordable tool, which could be used by professionals, but afforded by the everyday joe.
    They responded well to customer requests/suggestions, and upgraded their stuff while holding the prices. They had a great warrantee, though with the quality they had, It probably would not be used often.
    Price creep came in though. They rose prices with inflation, understandable, but the average Joe's income has been eaten up with inflation.
    Yes Tekton makes a great product, but they seem to have forgotten their intended market; the average joe looking for a superior/affordable tool. To me they are now shooting at the Professional, who wants a more affordable tool.
    Subtle difference, I know, but a change

    Think not offering 6 point ratcheting wrench anymore is a fail, And we have waited for bolstered screwdrivers, until i just gave up. Congrats on their newer usa angle wrenches, they look great, good job tekton

    • @TonyTheTechnician
      @TonyTheTechnician  8 днів тому

      Ya i know alot of people were disappointed to see the 6 pt go. It would have been nice to offer both. And ya they have a few tools people have really wanted yo see released and they haven't got to them. The bolstered screwdrivers I've heard a few times. And an actual locking flex head ratchet I've heard alot. I'm surprised to not see them yet. And agreed I like those new wrenches as well!!

    Im a tech student with very little quality tools (Lots of consumer and home tools but non professional) and their prices have gone up so much. IMO they are still competitive and the 10% back and the 15 % student discount is massive. Pricied out lots of Snap-On compared to Tekton out of curiosity, and a set that would cost 15k+ would be 2.5-3.5K from Tekton with some Harbor freight.

      Please tell me when these are needed or wanted? I LOVE the idea of them, but....
      I have never been in a situation where a deep didn't fit but I needed depth because a screw/bolt was too long? That's what it is for, right? Can you talk me into it? If you have all 3 depths which one ends up getting used the least, and which one the most?

    You are right about the higher prices of Tekton, Tony.
    But they are still way below the Tool Truck scammers, and many are made in the USA.
    As a Country, we should be proud to pay a few bucks more to support our American brothers and sisters.
    After all, it's a "buy it once" deal since their warranty is excellent.
    That said, you make very good points about better options. ALWAYS comparison shop!
    Great vid as always, my friend!!

      @TonyTheTechnician  8 днів тому

      Thank you and yes i agree!! I think it's worth paying a little extra for some usa made tools for sure. The part that's hard is when you remember what the prices were a couple years ago and then you see them now. Either way I still try to buy from tsketon any time I find a good deal on anything I need. I just make sure to do some shopping around now. Thank you for your input and thoughts. I always appreciate it. Have a great week!!

      I bought the 10mm for $24. This set would have been better with a standard 15 degree offset for the fixed end, IMO. (I already own the Capri long pattern, zero degree sets.) Ratchet feels good, minimal back drag. The beam feels a little "edgey" but not bad. I can't justify buying more of these.

    • @TonyTheTechnician

    I am planning on getting the 3/8 socket set on rails. I have been torn ongetting the 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 comfort grip ratchet set or the one from capri tool. Thank you for the video been waiting on a tekton video for a while seems like no one has said anything in a while, except you and Den of Tools.

      I work aviation, I have the full 1/4, 3/8 sae socket sets. The standard and wobble extension accessory sets. 2 regular 3/8 ratchets, 1/4 stubby, swivel, flex, regular and long ratchets. I've had no problem with the ratchets. I dislike the flex not being locking for my use case. I also have the 1/4- 1-1/4 combo wrenches. I use 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16 the most. I'm not the happiest with fastener fit, sloppy, on the couple smaller sizes. Likely harder to get better manufacturing down that small. Possibly a Friday wrench and warrantying them would get a better fitting one.

    • @TonyTheTechnician
      @TonyTheTechnician  8 днів тому

      I really like the socket sets. Nice complete sets and i have had good fit and finish on them. The ratchets are really nice as well but I can say the flex heads could use some improvement. I really like the capri ratchets, they are a little bit bigger but still a nice small design. They just feel better to me. I'll have a video more on the ratchets coming soon. Either way. Both are great options. Both have great socket sets and ratchets. So it can be a tough decision

    • @SofiaisSunshine
      @SofiaisSunshine 8 днів тому +7

      Whats wrong with the prices? They make great tools. If they start cutting prices to compete with project source, thats what the tools become. I feel their tools are a good balance between price and performance. I personally dont want a race to the bottom by being the consumer that keeps demanding better for cheaper until the company goes out of business for lack of profit…

    • @spencerkloc2893
      @spencerkloc2893 8 днів тому +6

      @SofiaisSunshine it's the fact that they've raised prices on the same exact product in multiple instances over 600% in a 2-3 year time span with absolutely no change in production, production location, materials, etc. Not all of their tools, but many.

    • @lazor222
      @lazor222 8 днів тому

      @@spencerkloc2893which products in particular are you referring too? Also I'm sure you realize the massive increase in costs for everything over the same span of years you are describing. The only things I've noticed is they no longer have some of the bundle promos, and got rid of free shipping on every order below $25 (I don't see how it's sustainable to offer free shipping on every small order), but at the same time the price of smaller individual items came down 1 or 2 dollars. They've also gotten rid of basically all their chepaer Chinese products and replaced them with a much higher quality Taiwanese import, or a USA made version. I've been on their site looking and buying a lot especially the last 2 years.

    • @victorhoyt4352
      @victorhoyt4352 8 днів тому +5

      They have increased their prices, but they have increased their quality too. Some stuff is priced phenomenally, but some stuff has increased quite a bit. Their sockets have gotten qute pricey, as well as their ratcheting wrenches. Their warranty is the best in the tool world though. Their chrome sockets are hands down the best Taiwanese made chrome sockets out there though. I'm not a fan of their ratchets though. They have some really great products though and their warranty is the gold standard though.

    • @TonyTheTechnician
      @TonyTheTechnician  8 днів тому +4

      Not all the tools have been refreshed, alot have been the same for over the last 5 years but prices have gone up more than just the cost of inflation. Multiple items have about double in price. Multiple bit socket sets, socket sets, Allen keys and more. Don't get me wrong they still have tons of items at a great price for what you get and I believe almost all the tools are great quality. And I'm always greatful for them upgrading, improving, and bringing tools from the USA into the lineup. Quality has been a huge improvement over the last 10 years which has been awesome to see. But certain items are priced a decent amount above competitors. I have always enjoyed my tekton tools and will continue to buy and support them whenever I find a good deal on something I need but I always make sure to shop around.

    Well said and spot-on. I have noticed what you have said over the years. The post-Covid world unfortunately is a much costlier one. I always say, if you haven't gotten a 30% or so raise in pay since 2020 you took a pay cut. Two or three percent annual pay raises won't keep up with inflation these days. I'm not a pro just a home gamer, who appreciates the value of a quality tool. I have eyed their long handle wrenches with flexible ends. I believe they were/are offered with 6 double ended wrenches and a small increase if ordered with a case/rack. These seemingly high quality sets were about $135. a few years ago. I believe the price has doubled.

    • @TonyTheTechnician
      @TonyTheTechnician  7 днів тому

    Tekton stopped giving you a discount when you build your own screwdriver, ratchet or plier sets. They also stopped giving you a free plier organizer when you selected 10 pliers. I like their quality, but their prices are not keeping in line with the competition. Quinn is sometimes half the price when on sale. The one thing I dislike is their SAE sets should have the choice of RED organizers, and their METRIC should have the choice of BLUE organizers. So, I just bought my Ernst organizers elsewhere.

    I feel really sad about what happened to Tekton. They had a great balance in terms of pricing and quality, but now it seems like they've lost that. Their prices are slowly creeping up, and they're getting closer and closer to Snap-On prices, which is disappointing.😭

    I like a lot of tekton stuff, and ive picked up quite a bit over the years, even though i still think their name is silly.
    I dont have a problem with some price creep, i expect the USA made stuff to be more expensive, and inflation for the foreign made stuff is one thing, but some of it is getting a little ridiculous. Although I do think they are charging way to much for the laser cut wrenches, the inherent weakness of the manufacturing processes vs forging makes it hard to justify paying more for something much weaker

    I have always been dismissive of Tekton, being committed to Snap-on. You emphasized their creep up in quality and perfirmance. It looks like they rely on Channelock and Trusty-Cook for pliers and hammers. Both of those brands are good enough for me to consider, but I prefer higher performance tools. I have been purchasing a lot of Matco on the secondary market, mostly NOS. Matco sources from pretty good suppliers too, and at my buying discounts, have made them pretty desirable. In general, I prefer Snap-on, but I have been retired for 8 years, and only hobby wrench now. I saw a comparison to being the new Craftsman, which I have reagarded as a very low quality brand since the 1970's. With my admitted bias to high-end tools, does this community think that I would be satisfied with Tekton in my hobbyist life?
    I am not brand loyal, but I have long tended to only purchase the premium brands for each specfic trade. I also purchase for my horde of sons and grandsons (that number is currently 27), mostly in the trades, so I only purchase professional grade tools for them. Is Tekton a good enough brand now for me to happily consider?

    Their impact sockets are a little overpriced they're nothing more than glorified harbor freight impact sockets they use the Chrome valadium also known as CR-V. And not the cro-mo traditional impact sockets are made out of. They're fantastic sockets don't get me wrong but in order to stand up to the impacting they have thicker walls so they don't always fit in tight spots. CR-V is weaker than cro-mo. Which is why they have to make the walls of the socket thicker to take the abuse of impacting and not like a standard CR-V Chrome socket. They're only advantage is they don't skip socket sizes and they offer up to one inch and 24 mm in 3/8 drive. Where most of your other standard mechanics complete 3/8 drive impact set ends at 19 mm or 3/4. Their trilob screwdrivers I bought a set of their complete set for like 75 bucks I went back 6 months later to rebuy them and they were about $110. The prices are getting out of hand and they're starting to price out the newbies who were looking for a step above The Big box retailers but didn't want to pay tool truck pricing. So I instead bought Quinn socket sets from harbor freight on sale all three drive sizes and they have been fantastic I bought all three Quinn sets when harbor freight was running a 20% off coupon on Quinn brand tools I bought all three socket sets for the price of one of theirs and I honestly can't tell the difference between quality of the Chrome socket set. I understand everything's going up which is ridiculous and that's an argument for a whole another day but tekton needs to remember their target audience and what they are and who they're fantastic for your average Joe shade tree mechanic and the kids who are just starting out in the mechanic trade who want a step above big box retail store brands they get back to that pricing level and you can't really argue buying from them at all
