Yeah, I've had to pull several machines out. Badlands 5500 synthetic cable.
I think I need to order a winch for all the other Machine I am going to need to winch out. Makes for good footage.
I have 32’s on my talon. And have buried it plenty of times on northern Ontario trails Warn axon 4500 winch has worked fine The free spool engagement is based of a locking hub. So it work much better that a standard free spool engagement
Northern Ontario trails? How for north do you ride? I do like the clean look of the Warn Axon winch. I didn’t know about the free spool tho. Sounds like a good option.
@@sideshowguys Kearny, Bracebridge, lake of bays, ardbeg are the more common ones i ride.
@@iamtheyetty lake of bays is one of my favourite places to ride. Bit of Everything there. I do want to ride farther up by Kearney tho. Never rode those trails yet. Might have to get you to show us around them this summer.

No my ATV has the factory winch but I did put synthetic rope on it and a heavier hook. My sxs's had factory winches also. I've heard good things about the Pro Max winch though and it seems like a good price.

My CFMoto came with one so I didn’t have to debate it.
i’m in the same spot as you i just bought a 16 rzr 900s and the winch it came with is a little crusty looking . I’m only a trail rider no deep mud or water . I’m thinking of getting a cheap princess auto or amazon winch to be honest. I spent $700 on a emp winch bumper and $548 on a 3500lb superatv winch from Royal distributing that i never got use because i sold the rzr . I’m doing things differently this time
In my opinion i’ve seen how you ride from Don and your videos and you seem to love going in the deep mud . i would get a winch either superAtv or warn and atleast a 4500lb winch and get the synthetic rope vs the cable. You could also just wait and see how often you may need it and decide from there
I’m installing a KFI assault 5,000lb which tomorrow it uses the the stock bumper
The KFI assault must come with a mounting plate to mount it to the stock bumper. I have seen a few KFI winches on a few other brands of machine. Let me know how the install goes.

I would say a 4500 is plenty. However I did put a 6k on my 2019 Talon because I got my wench from Tractor Supply. It bolted right up. I bout the synthetic rope wench.
Nice. The Synthetic rope is so much nicer on the hands. I would think with a 6000 you should be able to pull out any Polaris or Canam. Probably two of them at the same time. lol.
@@sideshowguys LoL!! I have used my wench helping others more than I used it on myself. I used my wench one in the mud on myself. None of my wheels were touching the ground. Twice in the rocks. That’s 5 years so I think the Talon can handle it.
@@stgraves260 The Honda Talon handles everything really well. I ride at the back of our group. So if I do get in to a situation that I need to winch. I am normally out before anyone notices. Lol
I don’t know if you Harbor Freight stores in Canada but The Can Am Crew UA-cam channel swears by them. They make a Badlands Apex 5500lb winch for around $250 US Dollars.
Harbour freight is a USA company only. None in Canada. We have princess auto up here. Kinda the same idea. I have seen the badlands stuff at harbour freight. It does look good. Maybe I need to cross the border for a winch.
@@sideshowguys They get abused and seem to hold up and are cheaper for sure. Hopefully no paper work to get the winch across the border. 😁
personally i haven't used mine yet. on a side note is there a story with all the helmets that are on a shelf going around your shop
You must drive a Honda too if you haven’t used your winch yet…lol.
Everyone one of the helmets around my garage could tell a story. Thats why they are up there. Memories attached to each one. Good and bad. lol.

There is always that Polaris guy who is always waiting for the Honda to get stuck so he can finally say he towed someone out for once in his life. Cause we all know the Polaris is alway the brand getting winch out or towed back. Lol
A winch is one of those things that’s “better to have and not need, then need and not have” I mean your not driving a tank
Well the Honda Talon I think is pretty close to a tank. Lol. But you might be on to something. Better to have and not need, then need a winch to tow a buddy out. Lol
I am a YXZ guy and ride through similar mud and never needed my winch, but glad I have for that peace of mind

Well, Don got a taste of the mud life. Raises 2 questions.. 1 - will he go back in, 2- odds of needing a winch out..? A winch may make good content!!!
Yes Don got a taste of the Mud. But he is saying I didn’t winch him out. He winches himself out cause I don’t have a winch. So maybe you are right. I do need a winch to get video proof of winching a Yamaha out of the mud. Lol
