Youll probably think this is the strangest thing but I recently came across your videos because I like doing arty stuff, I’ve been a crippling insomniac my whole life since I was a child and your videos are knocking me out! This is a MIRACLE! Nothing has ever worked on me to get time to sleep but there must be something about your voice and the music that is so soothing! I absolutely don’t find your videos boring I actually love them but I just have to watch them during the day if I don’t want to sleep😂
Just a some questions, do I need a kiln for this? Or will my oven be good enough? Where do I buy this clay? What temperature range do you use for baking?
Hi Brendan, you just use your household oven. Make sure the utensils you use for clay are kept just for clay. The baking instructions are on the packet as each brand is different. I hope this helps 😊 x
Your tutorials are always beautiful, not to mention the beauty of your art. You are very talented but what I like the most is the kindness of your answers and the modesty you show. You rock! Greetings from Italy
Lichens are basically a symbiotic mixture of fungi and algae both working together symbiotically to stay alive so that the algae photosynthesizes to feed the fungi which in turn protects the algae. So lichens are half mushrooms/fungi :) Wonderful video by the way, I love the colours together!
That's okay! I'm a biology student and we had a lecture about lichens last year and found them very interesting too. Definitely worth reading a little about them :)
A mushroom does have a foot, as that is the scientific term for the "stem". I love your choice of colours for your miniature mushrooms! Blue is also my favorite colour! I have liked and Subscribed to your channel! Thank you for the tutorial!! ~Janet in Canada
Your creations are awesome!!! I'm planning my wedding and it's woodsy themed so I really want to make this and incorporate it in the décor somehow! Thanks for the tutorials!
Love these adorable mushrooms, funny enough we are also in the middle of a mushroom project but in textiles :) I think they have stems, definitely not feet, in any case beautiful results and love the overall bark project(s) :)
I do, but some paints can bleed. In short it depends how well the pigments are bound to the paint. Usually if you make a test batch before baking it shows if the paint bleeds, however I heard it can take longer (a few months) to bleed. I never had problems with paint bleeding later myself though. You can also get ceramic or porcelain paints that are supposed to be baked, I've used these the most. I'm going to make a test for that on white clay soon, but the video won't be up before 6-7 months, as I'll have to wait and see.
Awesome video, love the colours. You can say stem or stalk for the supporting part of the mushroom. Or if you are into mycology, it's actually called a stipe :)
Hi Stephanie. I don't like the color blue but it turns out so beautiful... What paint did you use in the mycena interrupta? It was acrylic paint? How do you avoid dirt in the clay while modeling? It happens with me frequently when I model light color clays. How do you clean up the clay if it get some dirt? Thanks again!
maybe a silly question, but why do you add paint before you bake? I'm getting ready to finally try to make something you've shown and I just want to get everything exactly right :)
no reason, it's actually safer to make it after baking, but I find it often easier before. However check what you have first, some cheap paints bleed into the clay during baking.
So you are painting the clay sculptures before baking? I am always so scared that I will ruin the whole thing. :D Your hands and their moves are so professional...I am jealous! :D
+Stephanie K. PetitPlat Interesting :D I think, I am just going to paint my sculpts with dust colors after I baked them. I am not too good in liquid colors. :)
Wow, I always thought "lichen" was pronounced "litch-en", not "lie-ken". I was just about to correct your pronunciation and make a fool of myself... the video is great btw.
c'est précisé dans la description sous la vidéo : ★OUI, je suis française, mais je parle anglais dans mes vidéos, parce que c'est plus universel. J'ai fait un effort et ai ajouté des sous-titres.★

In English it's a stem but it's cute that you call it a foot ^,^
Your dexterity is amazing to make such tiny things, absolutely beatiful..
Just a some questions, do I need a kiln for this? Or will my oven be good enough? Where do I buy this clay? What temperature range do you use for baking?

The detail under the "hat". Wow!
:)

thank you so much :) glad you feel that way!

+Ellie Dimambro-Denson thank you so much for that bit of info. I find it fascinating! Will probably read more about it.
That's okay! I'm a biology student and we had a lecture about lichens last year and found them very interesting too. Definitely worth reading a little about them :)
Lichen is a symbiotic relationship between algae or cyanobacteria and fungus. I love your colors and that bark is absolutely the best!!!!

merci! :)
wonderfull :)) i love watching your videos!
well, that makes me very happy! :)
It is so beautiful! Do you paint unbaked clay with acrylic paint? And does it work to bake clay with acrylic paint on?
I do, but some paints can bleed. In short it depends how well the pigments are bound to the paint.
Usually if you make a test batch before baking it shows if the paint bleeds, however I heard it can take longer (a few months) to bleed. I never had problems with paint bleeding later myself though.

;-)so cute! i gonna make a tree with some... mushroom tree!
En tout cas t'es créations sont géniales et tu as un superbe anglais
merci
Awesome video, love the colours. You can say stem or stalk for the supporting part of the mushroom. Or if you are into mycology, it's actually called a stipe :)
thank you! so "stipe" it is. Many told me "stem", which is probably more common language.
Thanks again!
acrylic paints, yes. No special tips and tricks for that. Just remove dirt if you see it.
After you bake the head of the mushroom do you also have to bake the stem when it's attached ?
Travail très beau et détaillé, +1 abonnées ;)
+ChriH!st H! Merci 😊
Amazing work Stephanie. I love your videos. Also it's not called a foot is called a stem.
Absolutely beautiful! May I ask about the colours you used? Were they ready made colours from a clay brand or did you make the colour yourself?
I always mix my own colors
If I use acrylic paint of my baked clay can I bake it again, or will it ruin the paintjob?? :)
theoretically yes, but some acrylics might migrate during the baking process, so best to do tests before
i like the term foot
Did you bake it again at the end? If so how long and what temp?
Stem ❤
It seemed like you painted some of the flat fungus before baking it. Can you still bake it later after the paint dries?
+Sarah Cormiea yes. However just check paint quality beforehand. Some paints bleed into the polymer clay.
peut tu faire le tutoriel sur les cauraux stp c tlm beau 💙💛 merci sur ceux t créa son magnifique
How long would you bake something that small?
So beautiful
maybe a silly question, but why do you add paint before you bake? I'm getting ready to finally try to make something you've shown and I just want to get everything exactly right :)
no reason, it's actually safer to make it after baking, but I find it often easier before. However check what you have first, some cheap paints bleed into the clay during baking.
Amazing!!!! u use acrylic paint in the second mushrooms?
yes
Thank u!
❤
How long have you been doing polymer clay?
I discovered the miniature food world in 2007, but really started in 2008 and worked hard to make it my job from 2009 on.
So you are painting the clay sculptures before baking? I am always so scared that I will ruin the whole thing. :D
Your hands and their moves are so professional...I am jealous! :D
well I am a professional sculptor :)
and yes, most acrylic paints do fine. Some cheap ones might "bleed" on the clay though.
+Stephanie K. PetitPlat
Interesting :D
I think, I am just going to paint my sculpts with dust colors after I baked them. I am not too good in liquid colors. :)
Martin Gulyás the best method is always the one you prefer :)
It's called "stems," Stephanie! 😊
thanks!😊
💖🙏🏽
😍😍😍😍
ok😊
In English we would say "stem" not "foot". Beautiful piece.
thanks! apparently in mycology it's even "stipe", just learned that :)
Stephanie K. PetitPlat lol never heard of that one
***** me neither, but that's the fun part of learning :)
I like that you pronounced it the French way, you are French, aren't you? You should say it how you feel comfortable, ;)
In English you can call them either a Stem or Foot :-)
thanks, someone told me "stipe" is the proper word in mycology. :)
Wow, I always thought "lichen" was pronounced "litch-en", not "lie-ken". I was just about to correct your pronunciation and make a fool of myself... the video is great btw.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEE
:)
