On January 20th 2018 @ Turf Moor the entire away end packed with Manchester United fans sang " There's only one Cyrille Regis". How many other players would another clubs fans sing their name? Not many I can think of. Good man, brilliant player. RIP Cyrille, the whole of football will miss you!!!
As a Villa fan he came to us towards the end of his career but he still done a great job and helped nurture young players like Dwight Yorke. However, even I will always remember him wearing that iconic Albion jersey scaring the life out of the opposition. A true legend, lost too early 😟
Albion will never have a goal scorer like cyrille. He was brilliant. I was gutted when I heard he had gone at 59.my brother also died last year he was 59 also. Sad sad day. Rip our cyrille . Never be another like you at Albion.
That goal against Norwich was absolutely sensational. But the Laurie Cunningham /Ally Brown / King Cyrille blitzkreig to kill off Man Utd at Old Trafford Xmas 78 remains my happiest Albion moment. A few days later we topped the league. Happy birthday , Cyrille.
RIP Big Man fabulous footballer both him and Laurie Cunningham were fantastic as a Blues fan saw Cyrille many times and he scored many times againts my team utmost respect for the man nice guy and a great player. Sad Loss
Born in 1960, with Pele my hero, i remember Clyde Best of West Ham being the 1st black Uk footballer then Ade Coker, then came along Cyrille Regis. R.I.P Cyrille Regis as gutted as i am feeling right now, it feels good to know that your contributions to football, from great goals, inspiring others & most of all performing under extreme pressure from 'Racist Fans'....You have paved the way for so many others and passed on knowledge and wisdom not just in football.. So proud of you Mr Regis R.I.P.......................Tubbs
R.I.P To a Legend ,I never see Cyrille as anything other than a bloody good footballer, who was a gent, never let idiots get him down...He to me was what footballers should be ...The real football fans knew just how good you was ,White,black,whatever...Those that abused you and others are not football fans and he knew that and we know that...You will be sadly missed
My first game was v Norwich, when he scored that goal!!! Love you cyrille, even when you went to wolves, may you rest in peace... condolences to your family.
+blackcountryme. thought i would let you know mate. he left several sarcastic comments scattered on this tribute video. very disrespectful to a role model for many. 🌹 c.regis
RIP Cyrille a great player and seemed to be such a lovely guy. You have been taken far too soon. I remember your performance against us in the 87 cup final made me so sad as a spurs fan but what a great game. Condolences to all your loved ones.
So good to see the football family and supporters from all clubs come together to say great things about the great man! RIP big man and football legend, from a Manchester United fan!
What a fantastic signing. Ronnie Allen paid to bring Cyrill to the Baggies out of his own pocket as the board thought it was too much to pay for a none league player. The rest as they say is history. A brilliant player and really nice lad. Thank you Cyrill for the memories. Also a big thank you to Ronnie Allen as well. 👏. BOING 🙌 BOING.
R.I.P Cyril Regis, a football pioneer and ambassador. Moreover a great footballer and goalscorer! Proud to have met Cyril in recent years and very, very sad to hear he has been taken far, far too young. I hope all of football pays tribute this weekend
I’m no WBA fan but Cyrille & Laurie Cunningham became my football idols after WBA won 5-3 versus Man United in the 1978/79 season, both of them were just awesome, a joy to watch. Cyrille had it all, power, pace & a rocket launcher of a right foot. I managed to get the big fella’s autograph after a chance meeting & I treasure it. RIP & God bless my football heroes Cyrille Regis & Laurie Cunningham
My hero as a kid. Scored a hat trick at st andrews in the first game my dad took me to in 81 or 82. Loved the dribble and finish against Coventry I think. Rip cyrille. Legend.
How much would Cyrille Regis cost in the transfer market these days? I don't see a centre forward these days with the qualities Cyrille displayed. He had pace, power, he literally physically bullied defenders sometimes 2 at the same time, he scored all types of goals, left foot, right foot, headers. Didier Drogba is the closest resemblance I can think of, he was a fantastic footballer RIP Cyrille 👊✊
that first goal was in the opening credits for match of the day for ages, wasn't it ? I never ealised it was aginst that great forest side, and in particular shilton...... great goal.... bounce...bang.... back of the net
I wished "Big Cyrille" could of got on the scoresheet in the 87 cup final. It would of been fitting and the least , the very least, Regis deserved. Instead I take some comfort that he took part in the GREATEST FA Cup Final ever. Thank you for the memories. The Lord's my shepherd and.........Regis the star. God bless
What i find astonishing is that Cyrille Regis and Laurie Cunningham only won 11 England caps between them. Two of the Most talented players of the late 70`s and early 80`s who played in a stylish West Brom team who Big Ron is convinced would have won the League Title in 1978/79 but for fixture congestion late in the season due to bad weather.(they finished third in a 22 team Top Flight behind Liverpool & Forest. England Managers of that era i think were afraid to pick too many black players. Other excellent black players of the era like Paul Davis & Ricky Hill barely got a look in to the England Team.
To be honest it doesn't surprise me. England has always had a problem with selecting Black players to the present day. Graham Taylor admitted he was once told while England manager not to pick too many black players. Also when you look at the success England youth teams current and how they mostly full of black players, the current senior England looks very white in comparison.
Allen Lymilt haha. The fool. Chances are they suspended his channel or something. Hence the change. This social media malarkey is gr8 for sharing & learning but you do come across some strange cats 2 say the least
Im not an Albion fan but i always like Regis and that yellow and green kit is the coolest away kit in English football history
And when we use it now there’s people just saying we just copied Norwich 😂😂
No argument from me....
