I'm so glad the WWE game developers made the wrestler's entrances to the ring in this game look like the real entrances on the show, instead of the old ones in the first two games when they would play the titantron video with the wrestlers walking in front of it, it looked terrible.
Not really because the previous games WWF WrestleMania 2000, WWF Attitude and War Zone had the full entrances, but the first two Smackdown games didn't. It was laziness.

Entrances were 60 FPS [Interlaced but whatever] and looked smoother than stuttery cutscenes of current games. If only 2k added 60 FPS entrances, atleast on PC.

Actually yes. WWF Warzone came out in 1998 on the N64/PS1 and had MUCH better commentary. The commentary in this game is hilarious, though, but I do remember when this game first came out people and reviewers criticized it a lot.

This was the first of Austin's Alliance themes. I don't know how long it lasted, but it can't have been very long - certainly it was gone by SummerSlam.
This game looked as far as graphics for it's time given the character models we've previously gotten for Smackdown 1 & 2 but I remember being confused and ultimately disappointed in story mode. I seriously thought I done something wrong because it couldn't have been that short there had to be more but nope...talk about an absolute let down.

Despite introducing authentic entrances (which is one of the great improvements, along with performing 2 finishers instead of 1), this game is too similar to SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role (gameplay wise), and Story mode sucked.
