This is the comment that made me cry. Yup. It must have felt like holding your child for the first time I guess. Like 26 year he has drawn this character and now he get to meet a real life one.
The fact that not only Iñaki looks , acts and has the spirit of Lufy, he also loves the character as it was his own. Perfect casting.
I think loving the character you are going to play should be the bare minimum. Otherwise how are you going to portray it successfully if you are in opposition to it?

Oda is a hugger. You can tell when they go in for a hug both times Oda doesn't half heartedly go for it, he goes all into the hug and does some big back pats.

This is what is missing in Hollywood; actors and creators LOVING and RESPECTING the source material they are adapting. The overwhelming appreciation from this video was wholesome and contagious.

I was SO HAPPY to see that the cast are all big fans of the anime/manga and knew so much about the lore!!! Made the live action 1000% better! You can really tell when actors are passionate ❤❤❤
Halo and Witcher series could have learned from this.
Hanry Cavill also loved the Witcher, but the studio and writers ruined the show. I hope this doesn't happen again.

Oda-sensei meeting an embodiment of his "child" - Luffy, after years of just writing and drawing stories of him must be so awesome, and emotional for him as a mangaka and as Luffy's father.
"I can't imagine anyone else playing this role" is the biggest compliment you'll ever hear from a mangaka if you were playing a role that they created, most specially coming from a legend like Oda-sensei himself. No wonder Iñaki felt so happy, and emotional. I'm so looking forward for the next seasons to come no matter how long as long as the quality of the production won't get compromise.
The way Iñaki is looking at Oda, when he does not understand any Japanese, and he gets emotional shows the great human being this kid is
I think it's probably editing. They put the audio of Oda speaking over the footage of Iñaki's reaction to the translator.
Either that, or he knows enough Japanese to catch the gist of what Oda's saying, but that's much less likely.

My face hurts from smiling so much. I almost cringed from how Inaki is pushing into Oda's personal space excitedly; but when I think about it, this is exactly how Luffy would be. I can't believe they actually found Luffy. HE EVEN DREW HIM A PICTURE CARD. This kid is a treasure.

In Latin cultures, people (including men) are much more open and touchy feely. Americans less so. And Japanese waaay less so. But I think Oda-San was probably okay here since Inaki is basically the embodiment of one of Oda’s “children” and dearest creations-Luffy.

I am so impressed by how well casted they are 😭 live actions can be so bad, but the producers did a lot of effort to capture the spirit of the show instead of just trying to copy it. The actors are so talented as well!

Thank you couldn't of been said any better. People think just because the show does't match with the actually story word for word it was made for people who didn't watch the actual show. I watched the show and the live action and it's more about briging the spirit of your characters to life and they did Amazing with that while managing to still hold true to the story in a fashion.
I can understand why Oda sees Luffy through Iñaki the same way the manga fans do, he has that big smile that radiates a natural positive energy. I'd argue that Iñaki was Joy Boy before Joy Boy was even a thing.
If Iñaki was a Tarot card, he'd be *The Fool* unarguably and so would be Luffy.

I could cry right now. Oda rarely does recorded interviews. I never imagined I would ever be able to glimpse his office. This is a one piece fans dream. Even if the live action turns out to not be what the fans imagined, I will forever be grateful that it gave us this interview.

He's dead, this is actor(head is covered and e.t.c) He has been out of sight for several years since his last appearance. The mangakas have a story plan that they give to the editors. If something happens to the mangaka and it cannot be hidden, the student continues the story. Remember "Berserk", there is the same story. And the death of Oda is still managed to be hidden, referring to the fact that he is a hikkikomori.

I just watch the anime version of One Piece for the first time a few days ago. I was like, man, that Luffy character is just like Inaki!

Inaki's overall joy and enthusiasm is just so damn infectious. He seems like the kind of guy who radiates joy to those around him -- like Luffy!

I’ve been reading comments and I swear no one talks about the excitement ODA had when iñaki came in, he shouted his name and instantly went to hug him like they’re old friends who haven’t seen each other in a while. Oda clearly picked and cares for the actors a great deal

Iñaki looks like a genuine, honest, and kind person. I’m so glad Netflix cast the right actors and actress for this live action, they did a really good job.
This kid is LIVING for this moment and it's so great to see. Oda is right, his joy and energy and smile are all so infectious, just like Luffy. No matter what happens with this series, they did a perfect job with this casting.
From the day the strawhat actors intro video went up: *if this show fails it will not be because of lack of effort and passion from the cast* I'm so excited to see it 🤗 I believe it will do well

That has got to be the greatest honor of a lifetime. I had never watched or read One Piece before the live action but the trailers interested me and I heard good things so I watched it. I was hooked IMMEDIATELY by Inaki. Such a talent. The whole main cast was so great I couldn’t stop watching it! And now I started the anime and am LOVING it.

This is the best thing they've ever added to Netflix anime wise. I was so skeptical i didnt even watch it for like a week or 2 after release. Gave it a chance and then just fell completely in love with it. Hats off to the casting team., they chose the actors perfectly.

Anime every week for 23 years? You aren't Japanese and Funimation started it in 2007. The manga was serialized in 2002 in English
@@leightonrud66You didn't consider that people watch the anime with Japanese subs? I think Kaizoku fansubs was first to translate One Piece very early on at the start of the millennium
@@leightonrud66 there was a places which sell anime and manga on cds early 2000s. Of course internet was not this fast at that time we had to buy cds to watcj or read eposides and there was people who translate it. And One Piece anime aired in my country at 2004 so it is not like what you think at early time haha :)
@@leightonrud66 You know there are other people on the planet right? In my country, we already have the manga in the late 90s. When I came to the USA, I wasn't able to continue reading until it came to American shonen Jump in 2003. Anime fan sub was a thing prior to 2007.

It is not very japanese-like to be all huggy and up-close but seeing Oda hugging Inaki really shows how happy he is that he was cast to play Luffy. It's like a dream come true for Oda and you can actually feel it through this video 😢
Indeed, and its very latin american to be all huggy and afectious I noticed how close Iñaki was to aoda, even touching him at times, pretry common stuff to do in our countries, but Not in Japan, it gives me the impression that they both really like each other and are happy to work together
I was worried it would be too awkward for them because of the difference between Japanese culture (hyper-polite, shy) and Mexican culture (affectionate, energetic), but it all went smoothly.

One Piece was created 26 years ago, Iñaki was born 20 years ago. Seeing Oda finding Luffy after so many years is incredible, and him saying "You're just like Luffy" just makes me so emotional. Just amazing, I can't wait to see Joyboy appearing irl. More great things to come with One Piece and the Live action. Thank you Oda sensei and Iñaki for your hard work !

I love Inaki so much. He respects the source material and has brought Luffy to life more than any actor could. I hope we get as many seasons of One Piece live action as it takes to complete the whole series.
Oda picking Iñaki to play Luffy makes so much sense. Luffy is the way he is because that’s what Oda finds funny. I’ve never heard Oda speak so it’s nice to have a voice to the letters and SBSes. I’ve always found it funny how the fandom only have like 5 pictures of Oda, they’re all at least a decade old and one of them is from his wedding. Also, those marionettes are creepy as hell.

@@Volix_him he has an accent, and it’s normal. Luffy is Brazilian, Iñaki is Mexican. If the One Piece had originally been voiced with the people same nationalities as the characters, the voice of Luffy would have been with Brazilian accent

There are characters out there where the actors who play them just can’t be replaced. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, RDJ as Iron man, Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow etc. Now Inaki will always be our Monkey D Luffy.
