@@serchdietrich I think when Blondie took Punk and then Disco... Madonna took up Disco to a degree in her earliest work. So although Madonna is her own woman, I think she hopped on the bus that Debbie started then made it her own.
Debbie is still making music today Debbie made 5 solo albums And Blondie is currently working on a new album My fav Blondie song is called Maria, from 1999. Debbie I think is 75 now In this video she is in her 30s.
"Hanging on the Telephone" was another hit single from Blondie's 1978 album Parallel Lines -- "Heart of Glass", "One Way Or Another", "Hanging on the Telephone", "Pretty Baby", "I Know but I Don't Know" -- Did you notice the black and white stripes the stage in the video was painted with? Andy Warhol made a portrait of Debbie Harry back then for good reason. But she had the sense to keep it real while having fun. Old school Jamaican mento band The Jolly Boys recorded a bang up cover of "Hanging on the Telephone" back in 2010. And The Nerves original power pop version is fun too. That version actually kicks off with a dial tone straight outta 1976.
Just finished reading Face It, Debby Harry's autobiography... she is fierce! Love her to pieces! She did what no one else was doing, a woman fronting a band in the punk, post punk, new wave times and being brilliant at it... throw it up!!!
You should hear Debbie first single off her first solo album in 1981 titled KooKoo She has broen hair, song is called Backfired, she raps In it and explodes out of an Egyption tomb and wears a crown in the music video The album cover has spikes going through her face lol
Ugh she is stunning ❤❤❤ First time I heard this song was just now and I have been laughing out loud throughout the full reaction. Thanks again, love you.
Hooked at first listen, you just know another piece of the puzzle fell into place for Madonna. I do love the storytelling of Blondie whether is a few versus or single line. Top reaction 👑
To note... Blondie were very much riding the coat-tails of Punk music here. All I remember and I was very young, that it wasn't like anything else I heard on the radio. From this era their other work had more of a Disco edge to it. But I absorbed all of it ! It is a great track off a great album. ❤
In Garbage music video for thier 2005 song called Why do you love me ? Shirley manson has a poster of Debbie harry on her bedroom wall in the video ! Garbage even went on tour with Blondie in 2017 called The Rage and Rapture Tour!
This song was originally by a band called the Nerves, this was a cover. But Blondie wrote so many great songs of their own. They were a fantastic band, really great musicians all in their own right. Unfortunately, most people in the '70s and early '80s were just too busy looking at Debbie! Anyway, Miss Empress - great reaction - you're looking pretty as ever.
One of the hardest driving songs made at the time. Strong, strong song! My little phone speaker doesn’t do this song justice! Back in the day if you wanted a quick dose of energy, way before Red Bull, you would crank this song up.
Love this short fiery punk cover for them, and agree with everything you said. It fits so seamlessly with One Way Or Another (which Blondie DID write) that it's hard to believe this wasn't originally done by them. They have so many great tracks from this era.
Girl, do you want to truly LIVE?? you should react to Diana Ross Endless Love Live in Central Park Day 2.. Because on Day 1 it started to rain and created a huge risk of her being electrocuted onstage with all the equipment. It was night time but the crowd wasn't ready for the concert to end and Diana Ross could tell they were starting get pissed off (they could see the guy telling her to end the concert even though she held the microphone away from his voice.) then she did something very smart, she says to the crowd THE CONCERT WIL NOT END!! They cheer and she tells her band to play Endless Love (to calm the crowd) then by the end of the song she's able to say I think the best thing would be for us all to begin leaving very calmly and tomorrow we will try it again... She really handled that and avoided a disaster. Then, on day 2 (Not sure whether she was scheduled for day to or was just making up for being rained out... but she sings it again in the daylight and it's the most heartbreaking emotional version, she's singing with tears on her face and the whole thing just gives me life. I hope you do a video on it... Love you girl, from Jason and Aaron and our doggy Netoos inn San Francisco!! PS when do the braces come off?
"How gorgeous is Debbie?"
On a scale of 1 to 10? Twelve.
The correct answer is "yes".

Without Blondie there be no Madonna or any of the rebel groups today
Blondie started it all
As much as I respect and admire Debbie, Madonna is a force of nature and would have been around without Blondie anyway.
@@serchdietrich I think when Blondie took Punk and then Disco... Madonna took up Disco to a degree in her earliest work. So although Madonna is her own woman, I think she hopped on the bus that Debbie started then made it her own.
Suzi Quattro may have been first, blondie for me are tops though.
This was probably one of the most ahead-of-it's-time song for 1978. New Wave classic.
Originally 1976 by the Nerves. This was a cover.

Omg! I now want to read it
My late father was as obsessed with Debbie like I am with Madonna. Her music was always playing in our house. ❤
Madonna loved Blondie too.

Union City Blues is a great song too. You get to hear more of Debbie's emotion in her singing. ❤
Also "In The Flesh" and "Slow Motion" ...
Imagine being a young girl and seeing Debbie burning up the screen. She influenced so many female artists that came after 🙌🏼
so much swag!
