I was aboard the Enterprise for operation praying Mantis. It happened just as he tells it, I am from Louisiana and served in the Navy for 23 years. I love your videos.
Was on the Knox, 7th fleet. You guys replaced us. Was there for Operation Nimble Archer. Interesting times for a 19 year old. We had guy fore and aft with stingers. Swimmers always ready. Spent a lot of time as Midway's plane gaurd.
Just a correction: USA wasn't friends with Iraq or Iran at the time, but we were friends with Kuwait. The first Iraq War was because Iraq invaded Kuwait and so we invaded Iraq. The fat electrician video about cheese was great.
At that time it wasn’t very long past when Iran threw the USA and our puppet government out so they were feeling like the baddest country around. Between this and some land battles they found out that they were actually just a big fish in a small pond and taking on the military of a first world country is different than attacking a bunch of unarmed people in an embassy. And yes I know that the embassy guards were carrying weapons but I also know that as per policy at the time they had no ammo on the troops so there would be no way of accidentally creating a diplomatic incident. Typical government policy-you are in charge of security but you can’t have anything to defend the place with.
USA was backing Iraq militarily to keep the region stabilized under a secular power, because religious factions (especially under Iran) were threatening to pull together a muslim coalition to radicalize the region. Friends is a little too strong but we were backing them and therefore strengthening them, but as a lesser of the evils.
The Russian commander was not just taking pictures for history. He was watching to see what our weapons systems were and how we use them. The US Nave would do the same and observe any Russian actions also.
The Soviets and now Russians have a long history of doing the same to Sweden with surface ships and submarines. Sweden has an advanced military and is now part of nato
I remember a time when Carol didn't understand how the US works. But, as time goes by, she is beginning to see how things work. Her facial expressions are classic.
Oh, and also watching Recky as he cuts his eyes sideways at Miss Carol and as he glances at her, plus watching Recky as he smiles, he knew and remembered what was coming up in this video🤭but tried to come across to Miss Carol that he wasn’t completely “remembering” from a year ago. He really wanted to watch Her reaction😊.
"Proportional" doesn't necessarily mean 'even'. It just means that the bigger the provocation was, the bigger the response will be. 50 to 1 (for every 1 unit of damage you do, you will take 50) is "Proportional", it's just a punishing proportion. Iran put magnetic mines in extremely highly traveled international waters, which would be a danger to every ship passing through those areas, without any way to limit whose ships would be attacked by the mines. The damaged ships could have been British, Australian, Chinese, French, Russian, Arabian, or any other nation that had ships passing through that region. The mines also would not be able to distinguish what SORT of ship it attacked, meaning that they could detonate under a military vessel, a cargo vessel, a cruise ship, or even a hospital ship. Those mines were a general hazard to any traffic through the area. Because the U.S. started as a series of colonies that were dependent on ocean shipping, it was always conscious of how important international naval shipping has always been. One of the primary missions of the United States Navy is to secure and defend ocean shipping, whether it be cargo or people. The Soviet ship that was 'taking pictures for history' was taking pictures, all right. It was taking pictures for MILITARY history, and to get information on just how effective the weapons and techniques of the U.S. Navy were at the time, in case the Soviet Union had to fight them in the future. The U.S. vs Iran fight was a perfect opportunity to gather that sort of information.
All the fat electrician videos are amazing. The 2 videos I would recommend from his channel are The Berlin Airlift and The Limping Lady. I don't see many people react to The Limping Lady video, which is a shame because Ms. Virginia Hall was a force to be reckoned with.
I’ve got a whole list of my favorites: The Navy’s Unluckiest Ship and Unsinkable Crew, Eggnog Riots, The Barbary Wars, World War Tree, America stole a German U boat and stuck it in Chicago, the Cheese bunker, and possibly my most favorite is The Most Comical Invasion Ever. That last one, I swear, just sums up a lot of the shenanigans we Americans get ourselves into 😅 Likely missed a few, I love history, I like humor, and been wanting to have some pride for the US, so the Fat Electrician checks all of those boxes.
If you want to know why we're so touchy about our boats, The Fat Electrician has a video about that. It's on the Barbary Wars and took place when the USA was a newly minted country, and the pirates were the reason why we created the navy and the Marines. Great reactions!
As a US Navy veteran, this is my favorite from Fat Electrician. In fact, I enlisted 1 year after this Operation (89) and the DC Crew were legends! Thanks so much for sharing, you both are so kind.
A few extras not covered by the video: 1. The Navy SEALs were PISSED that they didn't get their chance to play. 2. The battle between Charlie group and the fast attack ship still remains the only navel ship-to-ship missile battle to every happen (to date). 3. Two Americans did apparently die during the operation... there was a helicopter accident but I don't recall what the details were.
You should watch his "America dismantles pirate nations for touching their boats". It tells the story of why you don't mess with America's boats. A nice lesson on 225 year old American history.
He's a great storyteller! He has one about government cheese that's funny, one of my favorites. So many to choose from and they're all good! The pictures he showed were real from when it happened.
PERFECT REACTION....Carol is alert & properly reactive & Recky keeps glancing at her with GLEE because he's remembering some of how this went down=>SUBSCRIBED EH!🍁🍁🍁🍁
I reccomend one of his newer ones. The men that defended Lazeranth Ridge during WW2 deserve to be known. The videos called "22 vs. 500 Americas defiant stand at Lazeranth Ridge".
Carol, I think the key to understanding Americans is that most generations have fought one war or another, British, Spanish, French, Barbary, Indians, North vs South, WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and all the mid-east wars. Our paternal ancestors did this while settling and building a nation and being husbands and fathers. The point being Americans were raised by plains men, settlers, patriots, soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen. My ancestors fought the Brits for 100s of years before they were exiled as prisoners of war in chains to the colonies to work until death. Little did they know those clans would help the future rebellion. The majority of Americans were raised by tough guys that fought for their families freedom one way or another. At the same time, these tough guys loved life, their families, and a real good time. The last generation of Americans that fought in the mid-east are raising their kids. My son tells his kids don’t make me use my Marine voice on you. They shut up and stop irritating dad just like we did with our WW2 dads and their marine dads did with their Nam grandpas. When you are an old line American coming from 350 years or more of tough strong men, they teach you to be pride to be an American, to not whine and stand up and fight, not to bow to any man, and how to have a wild good time. We’d get smacked for not standing and covering our hearts for the flag and/or whining. There was no pity for losing. You got up and tried again the next day. There was no giving up. I can always tell a new American, first generation or even second, they don’t have the American grit. There are grand exceptions, Elon and Vivek being top of the list. Most new Americans still have the what government needs to do for me attitude. They demand the government do this, give them that, and whine a lot. I can’t stand AOC or Omar, foreign born politicians. My dad would have smacked their socialist mouths multiple times a day and sent them packing if they kept it up. They would have learned early to stand on your own feet and stop whining. They have no idea what being an American is. Old line Americans don’t whine or invite government into our lives. We stand on our own feet. Old line American says government sit down, shut up, and stay out of our lives. It takes most newcomers awhile to get the responsibility of freedom and standing on their own feet. Living off what they create themselves. Whether it be subsistence or overflowing. It is up to you. A common parental warning in America is, nobody is going to do it for you. Better get moving. You have the freedom to lay down and starve or reach the stars. God bless America and Trump and his team.
Ok sir Iran and Iraq were at war for eight years prior too this time the US had diplomatic relations with Iran till the overthrow of the Shah and the installation of the Ayatollah and the taking of the U.S. embassy and the taking of those personnel of the embassy as hostages. Now that you have the prequel, we return to the FET all ready in progress.
I myself can only imagine the possible conversation between Japan and Iran after Operation Praying Mantis. Japan: You guys got off easy!! Iran: What do you mean by that?? Japan: We touched their boats once, and America dropped the Sun on us TWICE!! Oh and a suggestion for a video, check out the one on the 11th Airborne Division raid on Los Banos. It is a longer video but it is an amazing story of this rescue of internees in the Phillipines.
USS O'Bannon remains my favorite Fat Electrician video but they are all fun and informative. I search for reactions to this one, it's fun to see how people react when they see what the U.S. Navy is capable of when properly motivated.
Hello from USA Tennessee me and my wife really enjoy watching you and your wife reaction to videos your wife seems to have a good sense of humor so does mine 😊
I’d strongly suggest America’s Warhorse Sgt Reckless and World War Tree next. I think Carol would enjoy both of those. Oh, and How the U.S. stole a German sub in WWII and maybe the Old Bastards. Actually, all of the Fat Electrician videos are great! 😊
I love the fact the you (Swedes) love the America stuff, when a lot of us (American) love the Swedes. I mean we love Viking stuff and personally I love the Metal that comes from Sweden. I mean, the Gothenburg sound is practically a religion. Someday I am going to visit Sweden and the other Nordic countries. Then I can rest in peace in eternal slumber. BTW, great reaction!
I saw someone say before in regards to the military that an eye for an eye doesnt work as sometimes thats not enough to deter people from trying again i think that applies when the military says they are getting "proportional"
I loved your reactions! You’ve had some good suggestions for others to react to of his. I’d like to add another - WWII Veteran Vs. HOA. Every time I watch it I’m shocked all over again that such a thing could happen in this country.
Nic loves having reactors react to his videos. He'll pop up in the comment section sometimes. He also does the "Unsubscribe Podcast" and had the reactors "My New Zealand Family" as guests. The show was fantastic especially when you consider how different their "spaces" are on UA-cam. He was a guest on "Mr Terry History" UA-cam show. Mr Terry had done some reactions and they got in touch with each other
I was there with the 7th fleet. Operation Earnest Will was the overall mission. We got there in July 87. Left February 88. Operation Nimble Archer occurred while we were there.
More fat Electrician! The best story teller ! I cant remember if youve done Workd War Tree or not. If not it has another "proportional" type of response by the president, using another loophole. Lol
YES! Please! My fave Fat Electrician vids are: the Anti-Hero, the Barbary Pirates & The Eager Beavers. (ho this one you did, certainly at least in the top 10 or maybe 15.)
Something that hasn't been mentioned yet: the A4 that got its wing blown off actually managed to land at a base and did not crash or explode. Enemy or not, the fact that it landed anywhere is kinda impressive tbh
I don't know how many of these reactors of this I've watched. Lol This is the first I've read about the plane surviving! Wow Impressive is right! Thanks 😊
Recky, 🤭 before you showed this video to Miss Carol, you mentioned that you could not “remember” a lot of it when you first did your reaction by yourself previously, BUT watching your facial features, it appears as IF you did remember more than you told Miss Carol 🤭.
Just a note about the Russians. They were there to collect information on the American's tactics, the operations of the missiles, radars, lasers, and such. Information is VERY important.
Yeah, they like to tail US naval vessels and watch. I guess they decided they wanted to move up to the front row for this show. Although that was a little dangerous given the live-fire situation. I imagine that the russian captain _incorrectly_ assumed that the navy had been keeping track of his ship the whole time, and would know he's just watching. Usually the Navy would keep an eye on their 'watchers', but in the persian gulf there's a LOT of sea traffic, and they probably lost track of it.
@@kathrynck I'm sure upper level leadership was more than willing to accept the risk. Especially since, they wouldn't suffer the consequences. The Captain and his crew would.
Late side note, the Samuel B Roberts was the latest in a line of ships named after the man, the most famous of these being the destroyer escort from WWII that was attached to Taffy 3 of the coast of the Philippians that was attacked by Japan's largest naval fleet of the war including their super battleship Yamato. Taffy 3 was a group of escort carriers, destroyers, and destroyer escorts tasked with supporting the American beach landings. As the escort carriers did their best to escape the area they launched all their planes, some without ammunition that proceeded to buzz and strafe the Japanese ships while the destroyers and escort destroyers launched a head on attack into the Japanese fleet. The Roberts managed to get up along side a heavy cruiser and being too close for the cruiser to depress its guns proceeded to slug it out for over an hour firing anything it had, 5 inch shells, star flares, everything. The guns got so hot unloading into other ships one of the breaches exploded. The gunner, Paul Carr, was found wounded, shell in hand trying to load the gun and begged the guys that found him to help him load the gun to keep firing despite the gun being destroyed. Eventually the Roberts was focused down by other ships and was sunk. It really was an amazing battle and how Nic hasn't done an episode on it yet mystifies me
If you say communism three times in the mirror, Nic will appear behind you ranting about how bad communism really is! Peace.❤😊
He WILL! 😂
And he won't leave until he drinks at least 3 Busch lights while complaining about it. Lol
😂😂😂
😂😂
Nic believes that Russia and China are communist. He's an absolute moron.
The President didn’t say what the ratio of “proportional” would be.
1:1 is a proportion
5:1 is also a proportion
This is an underrated comment and totally fucking true. XD
I was aboard the Enterprise for operation praying Mantis. It happened just as he tells it, I am from Louisiana and served in the Navy for 23 years. I love your videos.
I was on the Bagley for Operation Praying Mantis..he did a good job telling the story..
Was on the Knox, 7th fleet. You guys replaced us. Was there for Operation Nimble Archer. Interesting times for a 19 year old. We had guy fore and aft with stingers. Swimmers always ready. Spent a lot of time as Midway's plane gaurd.
Thank you for your service. Glad you all made it home safe.
Thank you for your service sir.
Thank you for your service!!

Yep, anytime someone's gonna demonstrate their capabilities in international waters, you can be certain it's getting documented and analyzed!
The Soviets and now Russians have a long history of doing the same to Sweden with surface ships and submarines. Sweden has an advanced military and is now part of nato
Yeah - which is also why we never danced together on the high seas!
Secondly, the Russians sell them weapons but can't stand Iran period.
They would have watched with glee, pictures, or not.
honestly, it'd be way cooler if they did just show up to hang out and watch too bad. lol
I remember a time when Carol didn't understand how the US works. But, as time goes by, she is beginning to see how things work. Her facial expressions are classic.
Yes, Miss Carol’s facial expressions AND her laughter are hilarious.

8 hours… could have been faster… could have been more than half. This was the US exercising “restraint” and following rules 😂
I have watched this “Proportional “ video so often, I focused on Carol’s reaction. That was fun!
As a note when she was doing her sea trials after her repairs the Sammie B was actually a few knots faster then before.
This is one of my favorite videos by him (other than the Beaver one). Carol love your reactions!
The beaver and the whale videos are comedy gold! Funnier b/c they both actually happened and I just love who we used to be!
There's also NOT a video NOT explaining how the E-4 Mafia does NOT exist. It is NOT an awesome video.
Remove all NOT from the above comment
Always keep it “proportional” 😎
You see E=MC2 the Enterprise because it was our first nuclear power aircraft carrier.
I also think it's a warning to aircraft, "If you bomb us we're taking you with us!"
"Instead of over doing it (which America NEVER does!)..." You got this American laughing! 🤣 Great vid!
"Proportional" doesn't necessarily mean 'even'. It just means that the bigger the provocation was, the bigger the response will be. 50 to 1 (for every 1 unit of damage you do, you will take 50) is "Proportional", it's just a punishing proportion.

You HAVE to do the "Berlin Airlift" video BEFORE the "Berlin Wall" video lol.
Carol would enjoy his video on Cassius Clay....lol. That man was a real bad*ss.
Proportional response doesn’t mean the same in reverse. It means the proportion necessary to make sure the action taken NEVER happens again
As a US Navy veteran, this is my favorite from Fat Electrician. In fact, I enlisted 1 year after this Operation (89) and the DC Crew were legends! Thanks so much for sharing, you both are so kind.
Love this guy.
Also love my "It's Never a War Crime the First Time" t-shirt.
A few extras not covered by the video: 1. The Navy SEALs were PISSED that they didn't get their chance to play. 2. No way? Yes,way! Carol, you can't make this stuff up!!
He's a great storyteller! He has one about government cheese that's funny, one of my favorites. So many to choose from and they're all good! The pictures he showed were real from when it happened.
Well, some of them. The 16" guns firing from the battleship weren't anywhere near the gulf.
basicly america made a few new coral reefs out of iranian ships
You will love the story of Sgt. Reckless, the highest ranking animal marine, and Sgt. Siwash, the duck marine that fought in WWII.
Roy Benavidez, Medal of Honor recipient, is a great video. Very inspirational.
I adore Nic! Thanks Recky, Carol needed to see that and I've only seen it half a dozen times, not enough times, either. Love it!
I love our military, and our mindset. We are very good at being 'proportional'. 😂🙌
PERFECT REACTION....Carol is alert & properly reactive & Recky keeps glancing at her with GLEE because he's remembering some of how this went down=>SUBSCRIBED EH!🍁🍁🍁🍁
Sergeant Reckless America's war horse is one of Nick's videos worth watching
Carol, your responses were 'proportional' to the hilarity of the video. 😂 Loved it! Great reaction video!
He has a very captivating way of telling stories
The old Bastards 77th ID is very informative and told only like Nick can tell 'em. It's probably one of his top 5 viewed.
Great story teller! Love Carol's laugh.
Carol's reaction to this video was great.
I reccomend one of his newer ones. The men that defended Lazeranth Ridge during WW2 deserve to be known. The videos called "22 vs. 500 Americas defiant stand at Lazeranth Ridge".
I wish you and your wife many happy years together
As other comments have said, The Fat Electrician has lots of videos and they are all very good.

Recky go through all the titles you've done from him.If you forgot about it show Carol together they're all great
I think Carol would really appreciate his Beavers story.
Carol love your laugh.
Ok sir Iran and Iraq were at war for eight years prior too this time the US had diplomatic relations with Iran till the overthrow of the Shah and the installation of the Ayatollah and the taking of the U.S. embassy and the taking of those personnel of the embassy as hostages. Loving the Airborne shirt. My dad was 11th Airborne in Japan at the end of WW2. Great reaction.
Do Not Touch America's Boats
Band of Beavers and The Berlin Airlift are 2 of my favorite Fat Electrician videos.
You're the first people I've seen that seen to understand what bologna mist cloud means
Really like the TFE.
Miss Carol, Your reaction was wonderful🤭!
I love the fat electricians channel watch it all the time. He tells a hell of story ❤❤
"I'm just here to take pictures" LOL 😂
WONDERFUL SHOW GUYS!
you guys are one of my favorite reactors!!!
Nice 101st Airborne shirt Recky!
I myself can only imagine the possible conversation between Japan and Iran after Operation Praying Mantis.
Japan: You guys got off easy!!
Iran: What do you mean by that??

Oh, thank you so much 🌹🌹
USS O'Bannon remains my favorite Fat Electrician video but they are all fun and informative.
I search for reactions to this one, it's fun to see how people react when they see what the U.S. Navy is capable of when properly motivated.
I loved Carol’s laugh! You should do more funny videos reactions. 😊
Love guys Rickey and Carol. Keep being you guys lol
He could be the most unique stand-up comedian of his time
Quoth Habitual Line Crosser - Japan: Don’t touch America’s boats!
Any and all his videos are great honestly can't go wrong with any of them great react guys 👍
Love the Fat Electrician. He was a medic when he served…❤🇺🇸❤️ Jake McNasty…that’s a good one.
Love the shirt, man! 101st was my old division!
My old Division too. 👍
I love this. That man Knows how to tell a story.
DON'T mess with America's boats- the Barbary War, the War of 1812, the Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, Viet Nam.
I love your reactions!
USSB Roberts crew was GOAT level.....
Nice shirt. I was 101st Airborne Air Assault Division, "The Screaming Eagles".
Beautiful lady Recky. Nice pull!
Wearing 101st airborne Div. Shirt . Those my boys!!!
If you have ever seen Christmas decorations in America it sums up everything having to do with proportions
Another interesting naval story is of the USS Johnston (DD-557) during the Battle off Samar, WWII
Thank you for your series of pro-American videos, I greatly appreciate the support you give. I have great respect for the citizens of Sweden!
I saw someone say before in regards to the military that an eye for an eye doesnt work as sometimes thats not enough to deter people from trying again i think that applies when the military says they are getting "proportional"

the tv show 'West Wing' has a great discussion about proportional responce
All of his videos are great. Literally, all of them.
The fat electricians rendition of the Marine corps birthday is just awesome
I was there with the 7th fleet. Operation Earnest Will was the overall mission. We got there in July 87. Left February 88. Operation Nimble Archer occurred while we were there.

YES! Please! My fave Fat Electrician vids are: the Anti-Hero, the Barbary Pirates & The Eager Beavers. (ho this one you did, certainly at least in the top 10 or maybe 15.)
The one about government cheese is good too!

I don't know how many of these reactors of this I've watched. Lol
This is the first I've read about the plane surviving! Wow Impressive is right! Thanks 😊
The captain of that destroyer was gangster
I love the Fat Electrician. He has so many good videos out.
Our military goes all around the world fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves
Hello 👋 I'd love to see Miss Carol's reaction to World War Tree by our dear friend, The Fat Electrician. Much love from Minot North Dakota ❤️ 🙏🇺🇸
Recky, 🤭 before you showed this video to Miss Carol, you mentioned that you could not “remember” a lot of it when you first did your reaction by yourself previously, BUT watching your facial features, it appears as IF you did remember more than you told Miss Carol 🤭.
“Sergeant Reckless” were they made a racehorse a Marine 😊 24:00
Dude, rewatch the one with the Luckiest Unluckiest Crew. That one is even funnier than this one.
@@actaeon299 That's a possible issue too.
This guy is hilarious!! I like his videos!
