PerunaVallankumous Probably because of the difference in culture. I mean, like. When people talk English, they seem to talk on a kind of a relaxed way compared to other languages. I think... I agree with @Zeronality. Katakana was made to make foreign sounds sound Japanese in the first place. It makes it easier for Japanese people to say and listen to words that doesn't exist in their 「syllabic sounds」if that's what it is called. Like, テレビ (terebi) for instance, which means TV or 「television」bc they do not have the L sound. I think it kinda defeats the purpose of speaking in nihongo and not use katakana sounds. You'll just sound unnatural.

I loved watching this! It was cool seeing you speak in entirely Japanese because unlike in subbed anime, you are a real person and it was cool to hear an actual person speak Japanese like I usually hear English. I'm working on learning Japanese rn actually, which is fun :) Awesome vid!
I meant that the real people voicing anime characters are acting. Like the characters in Naruto are always making statements about becoming stronger and shit in these dramatic, determined voices -- which is great! If it wasn't like that it wouldn't be as cool -- but here he's just talking casually.
Ainsley Kinney oh, when you're currently learning Japanese I'd recommend watching some Japanese youtubers! in my opinion it's better than just watching animes since - as you stated- it's all acting. plus you learn more about the kulture!
はじめしゃちょー Is my favorite, but you've got to be pretty much fluent to understand what he's saying. Still, it'll help you hear how things are said naturally and understand through context.

Gabe The Dog Hahahaha I guess :p If you want to study it, do it! Having a second language is pretty healthy for the brain :) But seriously though, it's pretty hard. I'm kinda stuck with Tae Kim's guide for now while I wait for the day I finally buy げんき in Amazon...
I can speak: English, Swedish and French. (I am half Swedish, Half French) I will probably learn Arabic aswell because my dad was born in algeria and raised in France. My mom is pure swedish. Soooo...... im gonna have to learn some more. :/
there's this app called Memrise and it teaches different languages, including Japanese, Spanish, German, French, etc. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and it's helpful. I'm studying ASL and Japanese with the app atm. -even though I'm slow as heck remembering hiragana and kanji-
I feel like when people speak in Japanese their voices tend to get a bit higher pitched and it sounds almost cartoonish. Especially with girls. That's just something I noticed about myself to. When I switch to Japanese I feel like my entire personality changes.
I like listening to people ((natives and people who are fluent in it)) speak japanese because I'm currently studying it and it really helps hearing the accent and how words are pronounced so vids like this are really helpful to me lol
It’s So Satisfying To Hear U Speak Japanese Even I Can Understand Every Word Ur Saying! I Couldn’t Speak English Till I Saw U And Aki’s Channels!! Thank You
John Lexmark not even stop trying to crush people’s hopes and dreams lol my good friend teaches me at least 2 times a week and he has self though himself since he was 10 he’s now 16 and he sounds the same if not as good as this guy
Max Thornton as i said im not trying to crush peoples dreams its just i can relate to his japanese speaking level a lot because im the same as him half aus half japanese and ive been speaking japanese since i was born and im telling you his japanese is well and truly native level unlike mine which is only fluent. I also highly doubt your friends japanese could be better 6 years is no where near enough to get to native level in Japanese especially if you didn't start as a baby
His voice sounds so similar to an anime character, that is only ever be a supporting character not a main character, for some reason i find that his voice is like a dub for an anime character for some reason idk.
I feel like I'm the only one who notices this, but when speaking Japanese his voice gets higher... I think. It happens to me sometimes. I speak a word in some language (say French) and my voice deepens a bit. Does it always happen??? Or is my hearing just bad?
I think you speak differently for different languages because you speak them...differently than you would another language if you know what I mean. I know it's vague but it makes sense right?
Scarlet Sakura each language has a different dialect like bringing up French, it's a very nasal heavy language compared to other languages so it's just how the language is spoken. :)
I take chinese and we have tones, when we speak we say it in tones, so when speaking formally, its much softer and stern, and during just a friendly conversation we still are proper but more get to know you feel. So what he's doing is speaking positively but its also how his tone is towards the video, if you notice his voice is higher when he talks more prospectivly towards the items in the box. I also notice it with many japanese people that when they talk their voice is much more highpitched, not just that it may as well have to do with the nasal effect too as spoken down below.
AniFan currently learning japanese, and when i speak it i do notice my voice gets higher. Idk if it's for everybody but it doesn't have some aspect with some people
True. I notice my voice gets higher when I speak Spanish, but it could be that the language is spoken at a higher tone because of all the accents and pronanciations and English is more relaxed in speaking compared to Spanish.
Yeah, any language after your first native language is stored/spoken with different parts of your brain than the first. Even same with me, my Japanese is a much deeper voice than my falsetto English.
95% of the comment section talks about how he speaked English when he said he'll only speak Japanese 4% says how great/different he is when he's speaking Japanese 0.9% talking about other stuff 0.1% asking for likes.
skizol ok then let me explain he says he hasn’t spoken Japanese in long and let me explain he doesn’t want to subtitle everything he says and also realize how fast he says his intro and how slow (don’t mean to rude) he speaks Japanese
Although, I was a little more than just half-expecting Aki's name to be written on the box of the Asuna. Especially if it was Akibento who wrote the "ver" on the box and not her mom xD
It's funny how you pronounce the English words in an Engrish (with an accent, people will get butthurt haha) way when you speak Japanese, I man since you're fluent in both languages. 😂
It's normal to speak in a language's accent despite the words being in English. At least I think it is. I'm very fluent in both English and Spanish and whenever I say an English word I usually put a strong Spanish accent on it. Though, you can also use an English/American (whatever you wanna call out) accent when you use English words. You're not exactly forced to use the accent.
it would be bloody hilarious if he was just speaking in his lovely, calm Japanese accent and then just smashed it with a really Australian "headphones". (sidenote: I had to try it myself, i suggest you do to)
I started studying Japanese for a month and a few weeks now, still struggling with writing for some reason but i have no major problem in speaking. BUT. the only people when they talk in Japanese that I can understand it are my language teachers and ONE friend - + -and now you're one of those people, joeeeyyyy~plus you give off a senpai vibe with how your voice sounds when you speak Japanese
i have this friend and he's a grade higher than I am and he takes a few japanese and korean classes with me and you sound exactly like him . i might develop one hell of a crush on him, thanks to you =/////=
Suigintou101 if you dont need the subtitles and you still understand the whole video, you're just good at Japanese, not a weeb. I only understand some frequently used words in anime, I'm the weeb lol
Trang Luong I said it as a joke. I can speak Japanese fluently and guess where I learnt a decent amount of Japanese from watching subbed Anime. which I moved from subbed to RAW (cause my anime waifu knows I like it RAW).
Suigintou101 Lol dude you're not a weeb if you can understand fluent japanese. Weebs only know words and phrases like ohayou and neko and kawaii and stuff 😂
Wrong. That's just a person who's not fluent. That's like saying a Japanese baby is a weeb because they can only say words. A weaboo indirectly insults the culture and acts like a general idiot about Japan and anime. They know nothing, yet they disgustingly place random japanese words in english sentences to make it feel more Japanese, or something. Either way, weaboos are purely offensive and dumb, and not everyone who only knows broken Japanese is a weaboo.
ちゃんと日本語を勉強してるのに、自分にウィーブと呼ぶこともあります 笑 Haha I also find it amusing to call myself a weeb, if only to empathise with the poor souls who are also sorta trying to learn Japanese but are too noob to do it properly.
thanks for these kinds of vids. it gives me a chance to see where my japanese is at. A few months ago i watched this and understood nothing, now 3 months later i can safely say i understood 60 percent with no subs. proves that you can do anything with hard work! 👍
As a trilingual and maybe possibly a qualingual, I hate when my other languages get confused in my brain and sometimes my tongue gets mixed up while speaking english. One situation I had was when I was speaking Chinese for like 1h straight, had to tell my burmese cousin to do something but for some reason, I literally could not say any words other than chinese. My burmese may be bad but its never been that bad, thank god he laughed it off and understood what I said even though all i said was hi and uhh while using sign language as if he was deaf lmfao. One of the awkwarder situations in awhile.
Control Corns same heree! i remember once my friends were speaking spanish and i had to translate it to my french friend but i couldn't come up with the words! and sometimes i would even talk in english and then realise i was talking in english oh my hahaha
Maybe work on them more become fluent. At that point you're not truly trilingual since you still mix them up. You can read and write in them fine i'm sure, but the speaking part not as much.

a koj je tebi fav anime
I loved watching this! It was cool seeing you speak in entirely Japanese because unlike in subbed anime, you are a real person and it was cool to hear an actual person speak Japanese like I usually hear English. I'm working on learning Japanese rn actually, which is fun :) Awesome vid!
I meant that the real people voicing anime characters are acting. Like the characters in Naruto are always making statements about becoming stronger and shit in these dramatic, determined voices -- which is great! If it wasn't like that it wouldn't be as cool -- but here he's just talking casually.
I highly recommend watching japanese films and dramas too!
I've watched a few musicals and live action things actually. Those are awesome tbh
HE SOUNDS MORE FUCKING SEXY I CANT EVEN-- ASDFGAJKDKSVSLLFBDKFBDNFK *faints*
Crimson Slayer IKRRRRRR
Crimson Slayer I can't even either 😱
Crimson Slayer no
SAME
OH MY GOD YEAH HE-- he doesn't really. He sounds like a regular dude speaking in Japanese.

"S!"
Leigh Riddick you should check Aki's video ;)
NekoTJ Yeah, I came here after it, I couldn't stop laughing.

I can just see him opening it and slowly shaking his head with sarcastic smile
Joey: "I'm going to try to speak Japanese for the entire video."
*starts off speaking English*
I WANT TO SPEAK JAPANESE, BUT I DONT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING!!! :((((((((
Japanese sounds so clever, is it only me who thinks it?
Gabe The Dog As someone who's trying to study Japanese alone... It's not worth studying unless you have a reason to xD
But you sound so smart xP
Gabe The Dog Hahahaha I guess :p If you want to study it, do it! Having a second language is pretty healthy for the brain :)
But seriously though, it's pretty hard.
Weslie RossMal I'm french and learned how to fully speak english since 7 years old ^-^. Sometimes my english can be a little "derpy", tho.
Weslie RossMal same my japanese is not the way I would speak in english nor in korean too. I guess its just the pronunciation dragging you
Weslie RossMal Me too! It usually happens when I switch from Indonesian to English or Japanese (to a certain extent).
Weslie RossMal Me too! It usually happens when I switch from Indonesian to English or Japanese (to a certain extent).
Sou desu ne! I thought it was just me!!
"What does SAO have to do with harmony?"
Bro, you forgot the magical incest dancing, that was harmonic.
*Speaks English in the first bit*
*Top 10 Anime Betrays.*
I heard at least one desu.
This is proof I speak fluent Japanese, can I be apart of the culture now???
But do you even ございます?
Rev says desu ぇぇえええええ と、'日本' に聞いてみたらどうかな?
愛し彩乃 Doesn't that mean house. I thought いいえ meant no. They say no as no too, but I'm pretty sure いえ means house.
そうですね
but,
is there going to be season 2 for this anime?
Diamond Daze I really want a second season 😢
Sky TheSquirrel it going to be like btooom and won't get the 2nd season but the manga will continue.😂😁😀😊☺😅😐😐😐
you feel so much different in japanese (maybe cuz i didn't watch the subtitles......?)
Thomas Cavanagh
It already did
"I only speak Japanese in this video"
"Hey guys it's TheAnimeMan!"
😂
めっちゃイケボw 日本語のチャンネル作っちゃえ!!!
I like listening to people ((natives and people who are fluent in it)) speak japanese because I'm currently studying it and it really helps hearing the accent and how words are pronounced so vids like this are really helpful to me lol
完全に日本人ですね!
You should feel over achieved I'm literal shit at learning new languages. 😂
+Kai Carter I'm not gonna deny the truth
+Kai Carter I'll look into it!
Well it helps when your mother is Japanese, like his... :P
Omg Duolingo is my life! Except I never go on it and they send me those daily reminders and I feel like I'm disappointing that little owl dude.
There's a website called memrise, that's a language website, easy to learn from.
It’s So Satisfying To Hear U Speak Japanese Even I Can Understand Every Word Ur Saying! I Couldn’t Speak English Till I Saw U And Aki’s Channels!! Thank You
This anime name should be YOU LIED IN JANUARY because you spoke in English at the start of the video
I got my guy friend named Nico to do the Nico Nico Nii, and it was amazing.
omg sameeeee
My big brothers name is Nico... so its Nico-nii... I just need another Nico to stand next to him...
Was his name Nico di Angelo??
Nice! I do that and tuturu all the time and i'm a dude. Really throws my friends off when i just do either of them out of nowhere lol.
aesthetichoshi Percy Jackson crush tho
SUB is always better than DUB
Always...
Pokemon? Dragon Ball? Black Butler? Cowboy Bepop?
Accept Black Butler :)
nah. baccano ;)
A Musical Mango
at first i was gonna agree with you... then i watched cowboy bebop... that dub is top tier!
Sonic Katana ooo, I'm gonna agree with you there. That dub was really good
thats the level of japanese i want to achieve T_T
hotsei minoru im almost ready to give up. I always stall and forget words when i try to say a sentence. I guess im not able to speak it :c
By the way. He is native. Both in English and Japanese.
I can say bcs I do English IB diploma and also is a Japanese.
hotsei minoru sorry to crush but his japanese is on a unreachable level
Idk if it's for everybody but it doesn't have some aspect with some people
whenever i speak japanese i feel like i talk with a higher pitch. but maybe thats my subconscious deciding id sound better that way?
Is it just me or does he sound really different when he speaks Japanese?
Yeah, like way more polite than usual ^_^
Horseface The Assassin I heard that supposedly everyone has a different personality when they speak a different language.
I speak both Spanish and English and all my friends tell me my voice gets deeper when I speak English. It's really weird.
Title: I only speak japanese in this video.
intro: Hey how is it going everyone, it's the anime man.
*Top 10 anime betrayal*
95% of the comment section talks about how he speaked English when he said he'll only speak Japanese
4% says how great/different he is when he's speaking Japanese
0.9% talking about other stuff
0.1% asking for likes.
ForeverAlone Memelord u mean spoke

0.01% this unoriginal comment percentage crap
Playliszt Man, lmao
theres also a whole lot of weebs wanting to learn japanese
I never watch these unboxing videos but making it all in Japanese and i'm all over that shit. #WTF
lol same
Idea for Japanese outro, say see you later in the most stereotype Australian accent imaginable
GamingJar Id pay to see it
he should just do a whole video in overdramatized stereotypical aussie accent xD
I wonder what's going through a Japanese person's mind watching this
Damn... that shit's good
" Only Speak Japanese In This Video."
WELL WHAT'S THAT AT 0:00 THEN?
HMMMM???
skizol ok then let me explain he says he hasn’t spoken Japanese in long and let me explain he doesn’t want to subtitle everything he says and also realize how fast he says his intro and how slow (don’t mean to rude) he speaks Japanese
Aki gets Kitro in her box
Joey gets Asuna in his box
hmmmm.....
Akibento ships Joey x Aki
白ない yup XD
*shipping intensifies*
Although, I was a little more than just half-expecting Aki's name to be written on the box of the Asuna. Especially if it was Akibento who wrote the "ver" on the box and not her mom xD
its not shipping if its cannon
"How's it going everyone this is The Anime Man" - Joey in this video
YOU LIED TO US
still love you
Japanese is still the best sounding language to my ears when it comes to East Asians languages.
Amina A haha I know rigjt
As a Cantonese speaking dude this offends me but I respect your opinion lol
June Thanos Churchill
Lol thanks for accepting my opinion.
I thought I was the only one who thought this
Cali God I agreed I’m Vietnamese myself and I just hate the structure and soundings of my language, it sounds disrespectful or rude most of the times
Gii I'm just saying it's funny. I speak Swedish, English and some Finnish, the accent game is strong in this one too 😂
+Angelica lmao, for sure dude
it would be bloody hilarious if he was just speaking in his lovely, calm Japanese accent and then just smashed it with a really Australian "headphones". (sidenote: I had to try it myself, i suggest you do to)
Yes, I have the same thing with speaking english words while speaking russian even tho I don't have that accent when I'm speaking full on english.
I started studying Japanese for a month and a few weeks now, still struggling with writing for some reason but i have no major problem in speaking. BUT. the only people when they talk in Japanese that I can understand it are my language teachers and ONE friend - + -and now you're one of those people, joeeeyyyy~plus you give off a senpai vibe with how your voice sounds when you speak Japanese
i have this friend and he's a grade higher than I am and he takes a few japanese and korean classes with me and you sound exactly like him . i might develop one hell of a crush on him, thanks to you =/////=
You should get more listening exercise, I'd recommend watching some Japanese UA-camrs. Hajime is pretty good.
I do not even need the subtitles as I'm a hardcore weeb. also Love Live is the shit, give me those headphones then I will be rocking with them.
ちゃんと日本語を勉強してるのに、自分にウィーブと呼ぶこともあります 笑
Haha I also find it amusing to call myself a weeb, if only to empathise with the poor souls who are also sorta trying to learn Japanese but are too noob to do it properly.
thanks for these kinds of vids. it gives me a chance to see where my japanese is at.
P.S He could speak english as well but I couldnt even say english then for some reason.
Control Corns same heree! i remember once my friends were speaking spanish and i had to translate it to my french friend but i couldn't come up with the words! and sometimes i would even talk in english and then realise i was talking in english oh my hahaha
Control Corns yeah that happens to me a lot and people look at me like "wtf"
Maybe work on them more become fluent. At that point you're not truly trilingual since you still mix them up. You can read and write in them fine i'm sure, but the speaking part not as much.
Oh my god, I speak Mandarin (Beijing Style), Japanese, English, Spanish, and a bit of French. Literally almost everyday I start thinking my thoughts in multiple languages so it gets difficult to communicate lmao
ジョーイさん、私もオーストラリア人で、ちょっと日本語が話せます。だから、この動画を作ったありがとうございました。本当にいいな日本語連取でした。未来でも頑張ってください! 😊

SAO's next season will be Kirito and Asuna trapped in a rhythm based game. Killer deadly beats.
Kisa Sou ARE YOU SERIOUS? Now I won't watch it. I reluctant in the beginning but now, no.
It's official, Japanese is the cutest language ever.
