What he is saying at the start is "show insight." Think before you speak. Think before you act. Consider whether or not what you say or do will effect someone or even yourself positively or negatively. Are you going to do good by what you're about to say or do, or will you do bad? Will you be compassionate, or will you be selfish?
And he's right. You read any relationship article, they tell you to take responsibility for your actions. Yes, how your partner makes you feel with certain actions is on them, however how you react to it is on you. Think before you act or react.
God is to be first in our lives!

LA Truley, I agree, balance really makes a difference. Scripture comes first, and I am going to write down and meditate on the verses he shared; with God's help. But, being slow to hear at times due to my sinful heart, I still need to hear the examples and illustrations that are offered!

Its also good to read the Present with Religion, a book available for free on the internet.The book is about the truth of life and it shows the full picture of life for the first time so that you may stop being deceived by the world and be able to follow the steps of Jesus and other prophets to Heaven.Knowing the whole truth of life is the key factor in our salvation.We must know the real truth, all of it and live in it and change ourselves according to it in order to be saved.There is no other way to our salvation With the knowledge of the truth there comes true repentance which means changing our minds and also true obediance to God' s law and finally our sanctification which is a lifelong process.And God in His mercy will give us Hia wonderful grace which is the time and ability to make the proper change.Only in this way will we be able to attain our eternal salvation.Our task is to find this narrow gate that leads to God and do it quickly and stay on it till the end no matter what.Then and only then we will be saved.There is nothing more important or serious to do in this fallen world as our eternal fate depends on it.

These scriptures are to be used against principalities, evil spirits in spiritual warfare never against human beings. Sin and demon must be hated so we don't follow and be deceived by the devil who wants us to sin against God. David got many opportunities to kill Saul but he did do that. Pray for your enemies and bless them that do bad things to you; pray for their salvation and deliverance.
