I wish I'd found this year's ago. Problem is I wouldn't have listed. I've been with my wife for 20 years, and Nov 5th will be our 17th anniversary. We've gone through a very rough spot in our marriage recently, but we are working on it. I'm finally awake, and realizing where I was wrong. It's going to be hard, and take a long time, but it will be worth it. She means more to me than anything on Earth. Please say a prayer for us. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom. 🙏✝️♥️

Just found these sermons and as a young wife it really helps. Once I started to offer to go random places with my husband like a party or just a trip to autozone our friendship got better

Seeking "friendship" in a marital relationship increases longevity, encourage compatibility in Christ going in the same direction in life! Great sermon message for the Christian couples! "Whatever God ordains; He maintains taking full responsibility for His children!" Ecclesiastes 4:12, Amos 3:3, Proverbs 12:4, Proverbs 27:17
Blessings and thanks for the pivotal, on-time, relevant Word from the Lord!

I love it! I find it interesting that you put those needs in a gender based perspective, as I can relate to all of them. However, point being, you're absolutely right. A real friend doesn't just sit back and watch you suffer. A friend helps in a time of need, and that friendship is tested and proven in the worst of times, not the best of times. A real friendship like that can MAKE the worst of times the best of times. Also, I'll share a lesson my father taught me when I was a teenager that rings very true to this day. A friend isn't someone who's there for you when you need them; a friend is someone who RESPECTS YOUR BOUNDARIES. You cannot feel loved by someone who doesn't respect your feelings and boundaries, and therefore you cannot have a true friendship if boundaries are not respected. I think the security and respect go hand in hand and are not gender based. How can you feel secure in someone who will not respect your boundaries? We all want that with someone we make ourselves vulnerable to.
That being said, I also love the point about the "differences". If there are differences you cannot/will not tolerate, the point about respecting boundaries is key, as you will disprove yourself as a loving and caring friend if you do not. Assertiveness and aggressiveness are two completely different things. Assertiveness is taking the initiative to seek a solution to what you see as a problem while respecting the other person's rights and boundaries. Aggressiveness is seeking a solution to what you see as a problem while disrespecting them, whether or not it's intentional. Everyone makes mistakes, but it becomes straight up abusive, uncompassionate, and uncaring when aggressiveness is the common theme whether through yelling, lies, manipulation, threats - intentional and habitual disrespect of boundaries.

David should have married his FRIEND Jonathan then ...
The Bible goes striaght to the point and say that we get married because of our sexual urges . That IS the reason why we get married.
Friendship and sex are two separate things .

    • @adj5767

Exactly. That poster probably thinks he/she wrote up a storm .....lol. But true friendship has no boundaries. You are free to be open and honest about whatever challenges exist without fear or judgement. That's the beauty of true friendship.

My ex would put me down all the time to build me up he would say. He would call me a whore and a mental midget and a whole slew of other things and then wondered why i couldnt warm up to him. But he also was very honest, provided for me and my sons financially, spiritually reading the bible with me wanting to do the right things and he did. We hurt each other. I disrepected him and myself. Theres so much more to our story but i left him and He has been with someone else for about 2 years now and i have not been able to get him out of my heart. I was so sure that we were brought together for a reason. That we would help heal each other and grow together to heal others.

Married 36yr I find it a struggle to have any fun with my wife , it's hard to explain but when ever we do things together it strained and awkward .
She use to go fishing with me and I thought she enjoyed it but one Day she says the only reason I go because you want me to ,I told her don't bother I can try catching fish on my own .
Earlier in our marriage we talked travel we did enjoy that when the kids were little as in camping, - now she doesn't. She has a bunch excuses
I love her but anything in common (we have the same moral sense and ethics about our family so we have a lot in common in that reason) it just doesn't work .
so next summer I'm going hike the PC trail alone . Life to short to let pass you by .

Start cooking meals that you both can enjoy together. If you don't know how, learn or make the effort. Give each other baths. Laugh together. My point: try doing something each day that shows you care. Do this for a whole week and see what happens. Continue and don't stop. Give and you will reap what you give but do it. No excuses!!!

Some men behave like children forcing the women into the role of being a mother. They tend to do this more once the children leave home. Being an empty nester is the time to give your partner so much more of your time, however, some men see this as their time to sit back and have their wives become their slave. That is when the divorce papers come out.
