So sad. I did however enjoy the history. The story, the people. Arizona has little of this on line. I have searched since moving here. It is part of our past. Please do more stories on the history of Arizona. ,😎🤠Thanks so much.
I hate kingman the lack of business and infrastructure is enough without the city officials pushing for a city where old buildings and people rule. The lack of street lights makes this area prone to crime and abuse. City officials won't even speak about possible radiation exposure because they are too stubborn to bring much needed changes such as major businesses that have been turned away because the city officials are too stubborn to let them in. The idea is that the city is somehow stuck between people who suffer and people who benefit from keeping old infrastructure whether it lines their pockets or saves them money from spending on major development.
I've lived there most of my life and I have family that still lives there. I never heard of radiation getting to Kingman. Absurd. We have the mountains blocking anything coming from Nevada. 😂
You do know radiation doesn’t care about mountains right? It’s called “radiation” because it RADIATES through everything. That’s like saying “well I was wearing a windbreaker” lol😅
Cancer is the #2 killer behind heart disease. It kills almost 25% of people. Much of that is due to smoking alone. They did not say exactly how much higher the cancer rates were in Kingman, nor what types of cancers were increased--and all that would have to be adjusted for the higher smoking rates there.
Point is we are directly down wind, all the surrounding counties recieved the compensation and apologies, we did not get it because there's to many people in Mohave County. They have to pay $50,000 to each person (or to their survivors). The same for Clark County.
Some one needs to study the cancer cluster out at Antetes...20+Iles east of Kingman, and check out why arsenic levels are allowed to be so high in the drinking water out there ...sure...thats going to happen...lol
Very well-documented report - thanks for the insight, as hopefully policies will be amended in order to compensate all the victims.
No division? Kingman is a former 'sundowner' town...

If only the Japanese never learned how to be so imperialistic from the Imperialist, then this might have been avoided. Life sucks. Embrace it.
