60 year old japanese american here... i love the abrupt endings. no 'like and subscribe' BS... you are truly an innovator.
Agreed - abrupt cliffhanger endings are a lost art these days 😆
Wow
Videos that emphasize that "like and subscribe" are annoying.
i think his video´s could use a like and subscribe mention at the end of every video and also a recommendation for a new Saucy VR video.
The good thing is that he is speaking from the heart. He make videos every day as a form of therapy. Not necessarily looking for fame or views. A genuine youtube content creator.
I've been feeling the same for a while and one helpful thing I've learned is that happiness is not about having your life under control (that's a childish objective that we'll never reach), but about having a healthy relationship with the good and especially the bad things that inevitably will keep happening.
We are very adaptable creatures with amazing skills to figure things out as they come. Be confident in that ability and it will be fine. Perfect? No. But fine.

I think we all need a break sometimes.
What a nothingburger comment. Why does everyone downplay this dudes feelings on every video he posts?
@@frododododo I was just saying my feelings that I think everyone needs a break once in a while but okay I guess. Have a good day and night and I hope you have the best week of your life wherever you are :)
I think this guy needs some refreshment. But he also need to realized he has a lot. Family, wife, children, house.... These are really good things that he doesnt realize.
He's got to learn to have gratitude. He has money to eat, he has his own house, warm in winter, cool in heath. He has a steady job for security. A wife on his side to care for him, if he gets sick. Electronic toys when he wants to play. This channel to have someone to talk to. Many would love to have his life.
pretty sure he's doing this for the extra income
@@Anna-co9lb He should man up.
I think it's for character development. He plans on making videos on how his relationship with his daughter blossoms. Hopefully he's not really like this (it's just a character he's playing) because it would be terrible for the kids to have an emotionally absent father. Kids need their father to relish the time they spend together otherwise it leads to childhood trauma.
@@WhatAreYouJewingHere Boy, what a dumb phrase "Man up". Meaningless and sexist. Everyone needs to have fortitude in life.
This man is doing everything he needs to, he isnt lying around addicted to drugs on welfare. He is just being honest about his emotional state.

I lost my job I had for 16 years. Starting anew in a totally definitely industry. Stay strong.
Same over here. 17 years working for the same company. Now trying to reinvent myself. 💪
I just quit my job that I did for 12y. Currently selling everything I have and planning to move to a different country to live with my wife and her family. My plan is to condense everything I own into about 23kg +8kg, absolute max is 46kg +8kg. It's amazing how brain clings to stuff, I have to reiterate every day and go through the stuff and try to throw some of it away, let it go. It's a mission. I have 20 days to get rid of everything as I have terminated my rent contract.
@@ikuonaLucky you to have a wife and her family to be so welcoming.
That's a lot! Breath :D I hope the transition is smooth, and full of pleasant surprises.
Try to take joy in small things. Like sweet rice cakes. The future will come whatever you do - and you are obliged to plan for it. But it will work out well or it will not. It's the moments of fleeting joy in a day that make up the life you will look back on when you are old

41 year old American dude here. I hear you, buddy, we all need buddies or a sense of purpose and not having either makes you lose your mind real quick, especially if you don't like what you do. Hang in there, my friend.
Taking breaks and being mindful, it can help our mental health 😊
studies show mindfulness training in children makes them more depressed and anxious
Thanks
I enjoy your videos. Just the fact that you are one man sharing is worth alot.
Turned 40 this year, no wife, no child, good health, work is good, I'm lucky to have friends so life is not pointless but I feel you, sometimes i m feeling empty... I saw other people miserable with their family, some are really happy, don't know if what to think about this, and life is moving too fast
I understand that you want the best for your children, but you should not only think about their professional careers, but also their personal development and the fun that life can offer as long as you are healthy. What is the point if your children end up with top-notch educations but miserable lives? 🙂
Generally Happiness changes according to where you are in life and what's going on in your life at the time. I don't seek happiness because it seems fleeting, i seek contentment. Just like you can be alone and not be lonely. I'm always lonely and lost in crowds. I prefer the contentment that comes with solitude. I wish you all the best. Stay strong 🌻
人生は風前の灯火

« Life is a candle before the wind »
This Japanese proverb shows how ephemeral life is. Precious and fragile, it can be extinguished at any time.
We cannot know if we have tomorrow, it pointless worrying about the future. Try to enjoy the stability you have today because your fortunes can change in a moment.

not making a choice is a choice itself, too.
Hi, I’m not sure if you’re reading the comments on your videos. First of all, your English is really good and I hope liking your videos will help you reach your goal faster.
Have you considered doing more of a guided video aimed at authentically teaching and experiencing Japan from a natives POV? There are a lot of foreigners showing off Japan on YT but it’s not really authentic. Japan might be boring to you since you live there but to other foreigners it’s exciting to learn about it.
This might also help you get outside and walk to stay healthy!
Come visit me in omaha nebraska I'll take you to the great lakes. Promise we'll have a good time
Hope to talk to you soon.
11:00 you said it there. All you can do is live day to day and try to find moments, or maybe an entire day of peace or enjoyment. The answers to those questions will come around eventually. I think getting your son's input in the coming years on where he wants to go will put you at peace with that.
All I can do is do nothing ありがとう
The highs and the low are part of life, when you are in the middle of al low , you have the right to feel the way you feel.
It is absolutely normal you have theefeing you want to change something.

Hi, I hope you read this. Your video came up on my feed and I thought I would share these verses with you:
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30
He truly will give you rest from this fallen, stressful world. I hope you u can get a Bible. God bless 🕊
"hi, it's... *looks at clock*" is a classic intro by now.

Do you meditate? Sometimes it helps to just take a break, do nothing, and and focus on breathing. It might help relieve some of the anxiety you seem to be struggling with
Dude, I know this will look like a shallow recommendation, but try to inject some physical activity in your life.
I dealt with loneliness and the occasional sadness throughout my life, but signing to a gym made me string my days in a sense of accomplishment,it gave me a new filter in life,it helped meto connect with other people and make friends for the first time in my adult life.

You have a wife and kids. Your life is not empty.
I hope it has AC because it’s super hot in Japan in the summer.
You're lamenting that you have to live in the day. Yes. That's how life works. That's how we all live. So when you're at your in-laws and you are having a snack while enjoying the sound of cicadas and air conditioning, just enjoy that beautiful moment. Then when you are with your wife and kids, enjoy that moment. When you are at work, enjoy that as best you can. When you make a mortgage payment, enjoy making a mortgage payment. Etc.
Life is complicated ありがとう
Most people will not be able to think of having a mortgage lol
Love your comment , so true 😊
basically, live in the moment. Reminds me of an anime quote.. "the past makes you wanna die out of regret and the future makes you depressed out of anxiety. So by elimination, the present is likely the happiest time"
Worrying about tomorrow steals joy from today.
I'm a 38 year Old man struggling right now in NY, Everything is so expensive. 2 turkey foot longs from subway. Extra meat on both w no cheese. 2 little bags of Doritos & 6 chocolate chip cookies & a 10% tip…
$40
I just went to my local cheesesteak place to pick up a cold-cut sub and it was 16 bucks for just the hoagie. I think we can both benefit from making our own sandwiches. There is a channel I watch here of a guy that lives in NYC...I dunno if you live in the city, but I feel for you guys over there. It seems worse than it is out here in CO. You gotta stop tipping when you go to SUBWAY of all places. sheesh. This is coming from a guy that did pizza delivery and _needed_ those tips. Stop tipping.
just prepare food at home...at 38 you need to have diet for health
cut out the doritos and cookies. spend that money on a 6 inch
Buy a rotisserie chicken 🐔 and make your own.
Your fault for tipping
Whenever I feel like I am struggling in life .. I just remember that there are many many people who would love to have my life and be in my shoes …. You don’t realize how lucky you are and how truly awful some people’s experience of life is. Sure we all have our troubles … but too much worry is not good.
i don’t have a mortgage but i’ve also never had more than $3,000. i’m almost 40 and plan to live my whole life paycheck to paycheck. i’ve never had a vacation i work 5 days a week every week. enjoy yr break and try to be more grateful
You’ve got a whole family and you get to play retro games and stay home apparently?
You’ve got it better than a very large number of people, let me tell you that.
Utterly
Do not feel so much pressure, this is life... obstacles comes and goes...only when it is life threatening, than there is a concern ❤️❤️
Seeing a man with wife and kids saying his life it's empty, makes me (a person with no wife, no gf, no kids, no friends, no real human relationship at all) want to end my miserable existence today.
You always eat delicious Japanese things in your videos!
Negativity only makes it worse
there is people in way worse situations you must realize the freedom that u have and comprehend the things you take for granted
(i used to be the same as you)
Kinako is soy bean flour not brown sugar powder, you add some sugar to it for sweetness. I love it on mochi :)
Give him a break
Absolutely, you need a break. It's a good choice to stay in a peaceful house for a couple of hours just with yourself. Sometimes we have to do what is good for us, not just for others. About the school, talk to other people about their choice of school for their children, if you don't have anyone but your family, there must be some online forum where parents exchange opinions. And you don't have to decide today or tomorrow. It seems though that you have already decided that you like the private school more, but you need some time to align with your decision. Everything will be absolutely alright.
I need go out
@@askjapan9669 Good. Now that you know what you need, you will act upon it.

Hello sir - I greatly appreciate your juxtaposition of “emptiness of life” to the enjoyment of your delicious snack. I love the sound of cicadas. The sound they make in america is a bit different though
The sounds in the background remind me of Evangelion. Same when you filmed at the train station in another video, the beeping noise. I love Japan.

I think private junior high only makes sense for sports or exceptional talent individuals. Just for education, private tutors at home are much more cost effective. If one is not satisfied with the service it's also much easier to change the tutor. What's also important is to talk to kids about association. They should be encouraged to associate with stronger students. That makes a huge difference in their educational career.
Reminds me of the Finding Nemo movie - Just Keep Swimming!
That's all we need to do, and don't give up.
@AskJapan I enjoy your videos and we are all going through the same things, you're not alone.

How can you say your life is empty when you have a beautiful wife and kids?
I taught in Japan in the 1990s to students like you. I assume if you want your son to go to a private JHS, that means a private SHS too. Well, I taught at a good-high level public high school in Japan, and a few of our students went to national universities. And that was in the competitive 1990s!

Felt that
Have you always felt like you were going through a crisis?
in usa there is now born two generations of cicadas which happens only once per 15 years or so
I'm a 44 years old Australian man, and If I didn't have God to rely on I would most certainly crumble and feel hopeless.
I think you have to get aware of all the things you have: A loving wife, healthy children, a house, a job. You live in a save country without war. A lot of people don't have what you have. I know, only because others have it worse, that doesn't automatically make you more happy. But just think about it.
Starting your own family is all that you need. My guess is that the environment is a causing factor of his stress. Especially if he lives in Tokyo where the population density is over the roof I can see why it would effect him
I know you're under a lot of pressure, juggling work and family responsibilities. But have you ever thought about the pressure you're putting on your family too? Your wife, who spends her days taking care of the home and listening to your concerns, might be feeling just as overwhelmed. Everyone needs something in their life that brings them joy and relief from the stress-your wife included.
As for your kids, you're pushing them hard to excel in school so they can get into a prestigious university and land a stable job. But are they truly happy? Sometimes, it's more important to ensure they feel supported and understood rather than just pushing them towards success. Public school is fine if it means they can be happier.
Maybe it's time to consider how you can relieve some of the pressure in your household. Instead of focusing on the negatives, try to bring more positivity into your home. Listen to your wife’s concerns without adding to them, and make sure your kids know that their happiness matters to you. By being a source of positivity, you can create a more joyful environment for everyone you care about.
