    I have a question. My flywheel nut keeps coming loose. Even with loc-tite. I've been told I need to lap my flywheel to my crank. When it recently happened again I started to dismantle to do the lapping. I found that the flywheel key way had come partially out and has carved a groove into the center of the stator plate. Reassbled and starts and runs fine, but could that grove become an issue?

  • @Ulstermanone
    @Ulstermanone 7 років тому

    Check both sides of the Rotor for Gap -makes sure the run out on the crank is not high or a damaged rotor---If the Gap is not 0.3 to 0.5mm or 0.012 to 0.020 inch on both sides then you will have a massive engine failure and hard to detect the problem ---Half the problem with the cheap Rotors is the plates are not equal to the center of rotation so two mins on a lathe and skimmed solves the problem if its not from crank runout

    Hey buddy just wanted to ask a quick question, had my engine and tranny fully rebuilt and gone through, with all brand new parts, and it's super hard to kick and has mean ankle breaking kick back and also runs like shit when finally starts up, do you think it's a timing related issue? I haven't even had it running proper enough to have broken it in yet

    I have a 99 Banshee that has compression at about 180 psi i run 50/50 race gas and 91 octane. Am i ok to advance the timing 4 degrees or could that possibly cause detonation?

    • @kevingalindo1
      @kevingalindo1  8 років тому +1

      You SHOULD be safe. I've run °5 at 170 psi on 93 for the past 2 years. No compression loss at all and plugs look great. Just don't tighten your plugs super tight. If it does start to deto it'll back them out n you'll know right away. If you ever have an engine that the plugs keep coming out of, thats why.

  • @joealtamirano8225
    @joealtamirano8225 7 років тому

    what if your engine is upgraded to 521cc and you're running race fuel what should you set your timing to?

    • @kevingalindo1
      @kevingalindo1  7 років тому

      Joe Altamirano
      Something like that you need to read your plugs. They will tell you want the engine wants. You should even read timing on plugs with a stock bike TBH. some bike will take more then 4 and be fine, most are safe at 4, its kind of a "safe spot" if you will.

If you have the engine out of the frame, the only other way is to wedge something in the gears on the opposite side. I use a towel or rag.
