Really looking forward to when Daniel tells Johnny about this story and he says something like "whoa that's pretty bad ass. You're not as much of a loser as I thought."
Of all of Daniel’s adversaries and fights ,I think Chozen was the most dangerous since it was a real fight to the death ,not for points or a tournament. What I didn’t like about Karate Kid III was how weak and scared they made Daniel look even after beating Chozen .His fight with Barnes was absolutely disappointing because he kept running away from Barnes in the ring but never backed down from Chozen .(Who I thought was more tougher and dangerous than Barnes )
In Karate Kid III Daniel was mentally unsound in his tournament fight with Barnes. Terry Silver had basically got in his head and began to turn him into someone he wasn't. When Daniel realized this, he didn't want to fight anymore as his head was filled with fear and self-doubt. Add Barnes being a vicious dick and relentlessly taunt and berate him during their match, that's a recipe for giving up. What makes Daniel look really weak was the writers having the new rule where the defending champion has a provisional spot in the final. Daniel got to sit his ass on the sidelines the entire tournament while Barnes had to fight through the competition.
I actually liked how both the actors played it up as being exhausted/tired, even very early on. They're kids/young adults. Real fists/kicks hurt when you're able to land em. It's a reason a lot of MMA fights that turn into a boxing match can go quick, because their gloves are far less padding than boxing which can only use punches. Today some of the fight scenes in movies/TV shows are RIDICULOUSLY long and overdone.
Daniel didn't have Silver to fuck with his head in this movie. Daniel still had some composure left about himself while fighting Chozen; so he was able to fight a little braver. Unlike when he was scared against Barnes. However! I really thought Daniel was gonna die & that there wasn't gonna be a Karate Kid 3 after this movie, when I was young.
Barnes was stronger than Chozen, that’s how he was clearly portrayed so I don’t know why people keep making weird excuses for Daniel, Barnes was way more powerful than him even after he beat Chozen
Well the whole point was to deny him honor. Chozen said death because he would have to die proud or live in shame. Daniel just jebaited him. Chozen has barely any honor now that he got destroyed.
Me if I was around in the area in the first place - wouldn't intervene - would just let chozen make his own decisions and whatever else that leads to so be it as Well : @ least he would be likely getting locked up behind bars in prison for many decades maybe even the rest of his own life
In the franchise, I believe Chozen will always be Daniel's toughest opponent, because this was REAL. Miyagi even warned him that wasn't like tournament.
What makes Chosen work as a anti villain it showed his uncle turn him into him and saw how much harm his actions have done and him saying he dead to him is him wanting to keep himself away from him seeing the monster he became and not wanting Chozen to be like him
Man I've never seen this movie but the fight choreography is pretty cool, you can see Chozen adapting to Daniels moves when they get more predictable but getting caught off guard when he becomes too agressive.
Mr. Miyagi: Daniel-san could kill opponent if want to? Daniel: Yes. Mr. Miyagi: Then, why no kill? Daniel: Because we need him for my trip to Okinawa in Cobra Kai Season 3.
This scene was one of the many reasons why I liked Kumiko the best out of Daniel's 3 girlfriends. She was brave and stood up to Chozen the whole movie, I mean seconds after the dude had a knife to her throat she got up and attacked him from behind despite having no martial arts training and knowing how deadly he is.
@@holyflame2and even then, the crane kick MIGHT probably still work on an opponent who is already aware of that move because in the first movie miyagi confirms that it only works "if it's done correctly"
Ok, so for everyone who is confused, they both come from Miyagido lineage, Miyagido is a defensive martial art, meaning that whenever one of them attacks, the other parries and counters, which is why they can cancel each other out, which is why Daniel wins, because his final attack is a parry followed immediately by a counter attack
Who would of thought 36 years later Chozen would be helping Daniel defeat Cobra Kai. Fans of The Karate Kid franchise always wondered what happened to Chozen after the events that had taken place in Karate Kid 2. His life after Karate Kid 2 was always in question. Some fans thought he committed suicide or either became a hermit. I'm glad that Cobra Kai brought his character back and shedded light on how his life has transformed compared to how he was in KK2. The Cobra Kai series gave us Karate Kid fans closure on what was one of the most brought up theories of the Karate Kid franchise.

@@suymitshi hes alot tougher in cobra kia also. The way he beat up the 3 thugs on the beach was his most impressive since chozen. He also stands up to Johnny more in cobra kia and has no problem challenging to a fight. And even does fight him briefly!! ..the only time in cobra kia I thought he was a bit to tame was when kreeses turned up in his dojo and threatened him. Daniel did seem a bit scared of kreese there.

@Diego aros That's true and Daniel learned that nose honking when Mr. Miyagi refused to kill John Kreese. Plus, Chozen became Daniel's friend on Cobra Kai and now that Mr. Miyagi died (both the character and the actor), Chozen could be considered as the new Mr. Miyagi. Also, if Chozen and Kumiko chose to move out of Okinawa to the state of California where Daniel lives, maybe Daniel can give them a great car on a great discount since he's the owner as an Auto Detailer and he can tell Kumiko of job openings in dance schools in California and maybe he can help Chozen start his business as a karate instructor.
Kumiko has THE most angelic face and nature, and even now in the current series of Cobra Kai, she is just as beautiful as ever! She's a complete darling in my eyes! ❤❤
It's really cool move if you use it right. If you watch movie, earlier Mr Miyagi trained Daniel how to use it to evade the dropping hook. Realistically you can use it to evade and attack at same time.
@R F, You'd really have to watch that part to understand. But the scene is Daniel standing on a Pillar in the harbor and an anchor shaped hook is swinging down towards him. He has to sidestep, without falling off the pillar, he did it once but was lucky to only rip his shirt. he asked if there was a counterpunch that could be used, Miyagi said "Ask drum". It's in this scene he finally understands the technique, by asking the drum
3:23 watching this as a 20 yr old now cuz I watched this when I was younger to me this looks like a representation as Miyagi and Sato fighting each other
From the sounds of it, they were childhood friends before Chozen went over to the Dark Side of the Force. Kumiko helped to pull him back to the Light Side after this.
As much as I appreciate Kumiko helping Chozen becoming a better man, the whole suggestion that Chozen had feelings for Kumiko growing up kinda comes out of nowhere, and also contradicts this movie; right after Chozen kicks Daniel in the gut and says "You insult my honor again, I will kill you!", Kumiko says to Daniel "Ever since we were children, he's always been the same"
@@MorganKing95 Yeah, that also made me wonder. In KK2, Kumiko says that Chozen had always been a bully, even when they were kids. Yet in the Cobra Kai nightclub scene, Chozen says that they used to have fun playing hide and seek together. Someone is clearly not telling the truth.
@@Monatio79 Chozen was drunk when he told that story to Danny Boy. Or maybe Kumiko was just telling a lie about Chozen because she had a crush on Danny Boy.
@@elchichosantana6410 Well, people usually tell the truth when they're drunk. Secrets/personal feelings which you would normally keep to yourself are exposed when under the influence. So that would imply that Chozen's feelings were real; he really did chase her around as a kid. If you watch KK2, the scene when he takes off his shirt and says "You keep for your collection", Kumiko gives him a look that suggests they were not always at odds with each other.
Miyagi: “This is not tournament, this for real.” Daniel: “I know” I love how Cobra Kai showed that extra piece of dialogue that was deleted from the theatrical version.
After watching Cobra Kai, and then coming back to this, it really makes a person understand just how hard it must have been for both Sato and Myagi to have to sit there and watch two teenagers who are their sons in all but name fight to the death because Myagi decades ago declared his love for Sato's bride to be. Fast forward to Cobra Kai and Daniel and Johnny are forced to watch as Sam, Miguel, Robby, and the rest of their students get into all-out brawls because decades ago, Daniel met Ali and started dating her.
I love how Chozen calls the drum a baby rattle. Well than Chozen that "baby rattle" saved Daniel's ass and he kicked your ass but years later you defeated him but this time you fought with honor and taught him new moves which save him against Kreese
I appreciate Kumiko immediately getting up after being thrown aside and actually making an effort to stop Chozen, forcing him to actually knock her out to keep her out of the rest of fight. It is very frustrating when Damsels In Distress are physically capable of helping, but choose to stand around doing nothing. It might not have accomplished much because she is not a fighter, and the main protagonist has to be the one who wins the fight, but the effort is noted.
I genuinely think that the second movie really did Daniel justice. The first one he was kind of an arrogant prick while the third he was just being a straight up ass. The second movie really showed his true character and how well he truly cared for everything around him. Not only that, but it showed how much he had matured in the few weeks of being in Okinawa. The second movie will probably forever be my favorite because of that
One of the most underrated sequels of all time. The first movie is a Karate match in a California valley. The second movie is a fight to the death over love, glory, and honor. Talk about an upgrade.
The arm drag flip over move that Chozen does at 3:12 is the same move that Daniel defeats Mike Barnes with in KK3. The only difference is here Daniel counters Chozen's follow up punch. Barne's couldn't counter Daniel's.
Why did the bad guy make him take the bridges? It's 1m tall, is everyone allergic to water? Everyone: "I really wanted to save the girl, but without those bridges how can I get there?"

@@CinemageddonReviews Haha yeah, didn't call Chozen telling the story.
Ikr

So the ancient Japanese's wisdom of the drum is basically just punch him in the face over and over until u win?
It's really cool move if you use it right. If you watch movie, earlier Mr Miyagi trained Daniel how to use it to evade the dropping hook. Realistically you can use it to evade and attack at same time.
@R F, You'd really have to watch that part to understand. But the scene is Daniel standing on a Pillar in the harbor and an anchor shaped hook is swinging down towards him. He has to sidestep, without falling off the pillar, he did it once but was lucky to only rip his shirt. he asked if there was a counterpunch that could be used, Miyagi said "Ask drum". The same principle as "shoot it till it dies"
Chozen used the Ronda Rousey defence this time. Block every punch with your face

35 years later. They are in a night club, drinking talking about Chozen feelings for the same girl they fought here. Life is funny
Who would imagine we would see Chozen again. He went being a young psychopathic villain to a wise and caring elder.

Fast forward to Cobra Kai and Daniel and Johnny are forced to watch as Sam, Miguel, Robby, and the rest of their students get into all-out brawls because decades ago, Daniel met Ali and started dating her.
Daniel ain’t afraid to fight to the death with Chozen, but, he’s afraid when he’s gotta fight for points in karate kid 3
