Animation school can open pathways and blocked gates such as Nick, Disney TVA, and Cartoon Network internships, without having to wait for an open casting call as they sometimes do (more nick than Disney TVA.) It also is a great opportunity for networking, alongside learning the fundamentals of working in a group and simulating the feel of being a part of a bigger production team.
I did thing that at art school people would know what there doing more but utubers are great to :) and they don't try to change your art style when your not ready
WOW! You just blew my mind. I never considered using an old webcam for this (had no idea that was possible with OpenToonz after struggling to get GTS to work) and then your animation, pre-production and actual process are flawless. Thanks so much for making these videos!
Lotssssss of Hardwork and Patience..kudos to the ghibli studio team, Now i truly understand their hardwork behind all those animation movies they have created. Kudos to this talented guy too for showing hows this is done

Yup. That's how we made 3 TV series back in the late 90s and early 2000s with the - at the time very expensive - Toonz software from Digital Video. It blew my mind when I realized that this incredible sophisticated professional software nowadays is available for FREE. The only difference from the paid version, is that Open Toonz comes with no manuals. But when you know how to work with Toonz or Harlekin, you know how to work with Open Toonz.
Beg pardon, but I'm trying to get at least a fan series of mine off the ground, and all I have are transcripts, conceptual art of the characters and a storyboard for the first season intro that's currently in the works. In short, I need help and all the animators I've talked to only work for money

@@exodia9817 I am not an animator, but a TD, I used to organize the work pipeline. So the animators I know are all old guys, and by "old", I mean from 45 upwards. They are either retired or working as animation directors, meaning they won't work for free. The best way is to look for someone who is beginning at an animation or art school. Anyway, I will ask if somebody knows youngster(s) who'd be interested. Cheers for now!
@@exodia9817f course people will work for money. No offense but you'll never get that series animated for free as you are basically a random unless you start it by yourself or consider actually paying people for their work.
So many warm thanks to you! Really informative vdo. I haven't done pencil animation in a years and seeing you doing it and using the webcam to shoot the frames is making me nostalgic!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
This is great stuff! I didn't realise the program could incorporate traditional stuff so readily! (It blows my mind that anyone can animate on top pegs - I can't wrap my head around how you make it work.)
dude! what your doing keep it up! this is really the best way to make a super tutorial! taking us thru the whole process! I thought I never see the day! but you sir are a true Art trooper! and this is home made so kudos to you and your livelihood! I will subscribe to you and like!
For me, the rough animation on paper with pencil will be scanned into the computer for digital clean-up & coloring via Toon Boom Harmony & Adobe Animate.
If you don't have a light box, I feel like you can use flash for the rough animation and Photoshop for the cleanup. It'll save you the time of scanning and setting up.
I don't have any previous knowledge of animation though I want to do it for a living. This was a cool look into the process :3 I have opentoonz as well would it be okay for a beginner like me?
Do you think that this tutorial could work as good if I draw the animation digitally? I mean what steps should I follow and which one I shouldn't. Because I'm trying to do a really traditional Ghibli animation style, but trying to avoid the paper waste, that would make it really expensive for me, so I'm trying to figure out how to do it in a way that looks really similar to the traditional way without the use of paper. Thanks
What kind of pencil do you recommend for clean-up? I saw in some video someone was using lead pencil, while in KyoAni's making of Violet Evergarden, someone was using mechanical pencil. My problem at the moment is that my clean-up lines are very "inconsistent"; if I sharpen my pen, the lines are too thin and it quickly wears down. If I keep using without sharpening, eventually my lines become too thick compared to rest of the drawing. I'm currently using Stabilo Swano 4905 HB2, and I know it's not a very good pencil for clean-up, but I want to know which would be a good pencil to purchase.
Hi! anyone could tell me how can I find in google that plastic thing to put the animation sheets together? and exist any kind of sheet punch with that format? What is the common size and grammage of the animation sheets? Thanks so much!!!!!
I've got a question. When I render my animation all the lines I drew disappear and only the shapes I drew with the shape tool are left. Any idea what happens?
can I import my hand-drawn drawing in this software? I am struggling right now, I almost completed my animation drawing, I have a lot of pages. but I don't know what software can I use to compile them and make it an animation.
You can take a picture of each of the frames and import the images in After Effects in a sequence. This is what i did for mine and I hope it works out for you too! :)
Why spend 50,000 USD on an animation school when it is all right here? Thank you so much!
Finally!! Somebody finally gets it!

Too professional for me, I'm intimidated but impressed.
I recommend channels Darren T and Noble Frugal Studios - lots of great opentoonz tutorials.

Krist0fh i was wondering this too...
Me too
I have a lightbox... somewhere. Any clue where to get a peg-bar?
Hey there, you can generally find cheap plastic ones in certain art supply stores and the good metal ones on Amazon depending on you country.
If you want to spend an exorbitant amount on shipping you could try the Japanese amazon site.

What a great tutorial! thank you for sharing this for us. by the way what storyboard software did you used here 1:43 ?
Random question: what lightbox are you using?
When you draw over the previous picture does it never ruin the picture under?
Amazing! Where did you get your pegbar? :-)
You can get one here: www.chromacolour.co.uk/animationsupplies/pegbars.html

HI .....IS IMPORTANT THE PROGRAM OF ANIMATION? I HAVE CLIP PAINT STUDIO
I not have web camera to connect with it, what i can do, please tell me😩😩😩
How do you know how long an action should be or how many frames to make?
It doesn't really require a specific time. Just as long as the action is natural and as realistic you can get it, it will hopefully be fine.
@@bleep4288 Ok thanks!

I've got a question.
When I render my animation all the lines I drew disappear and only the shapes I drew with the shape tool are left.
Any idea what happens?
Is it still possible to animate on the computer without the traditional medium?
what lead hardness is the pencil? 2B? would a lead pencil work?

Also you can do it in Ipad Pro’s Procreate
What paper did you use
What's that paper name please? 😭
noice
Why dont you draw in opentoonz software?
It's better to draw hand drawn traditional animation over digital animation.
why you had to kill her ......
Can you draw on Open Toonz?
Is this 2d or 3d ??
do your tutorials in spanish
why not simply use a graphic tablet? it can give the same results..
because some people prefer doing traditional because they're more comfortable with it? Not everything have to be done in digital -.-
