Just spotted this and of course the comments, I was the original bass player in the band and co-wrote Wild Country Wine with original guitarist Dave Wendells. Dave and I and the original sax player Howie Casey and trumpeter Alan Townsend had all left the band by the time of this recording. But it was a belting good live band but for some reason didn't crack it on record unfortunately.
Wowtimes three, the blues class rolls off this guy.You can see why he's so respected, you're up there with the greats, Roy.The band's pumpin' and jumpin' and that harmonica-horns section, woooohhhh. Now I'm gonna scout for that two cd anniversary album of Roy's. Fuckin' wild. wild wine. What an original. Thanks times three Roy
Bloody awesome track, we are going to cover this track as it's right up our street, not to many tracks like this for a big band like ours , swings like fuck !!! Thanks Roy !!
This has just been on the TV. By judicious mousemanship I managed to time this one so that it was synchronised with the TV picture, then I was able swivel my head between them for virtual visual stereo and a pleasingly 70s-style sense of disorientation.
I saw it on the TV a few months ago. I had never heard of him and was surprised he was British. Just read in Uncut magazine that he died in April (2018). Very sad.
A quick googling reveals that Roy Young is from London. So what's with the cowboy hat? And why is he trying to sound like an American soul singer? I mean, it is a matter of historical record that no music worthy of mention has ever originated from the British Isles, isn't it? That's why every musician over a certain age felt duty-bound to sing, act, write, dress and act like an American. WTF. This is a perfect example of why something like Punk just had to happen.
Like, have you no idea of what British music was up to in the 1960s and 70s? Never heard of the British blues explosion? For your own sake, remove this staggeringly uninformed comment and do some musical research!! Jeez!!

A great musician, a great person. It leaves a void that will remain. What is rock'n roll without him?
I loved working on the same bill as Roy and his band when I was in Brewers Droop or playing with Marty Wilde.
What a belter of a song. A real foot rocker.
Only caught this on Beeb 4 other night. Love it. Rock n roll!

Did Paul Kaye steal Roy's look for his "Maurice" character in the BetVictor adverts?
Shame the aspect ratio is screwed up .....

Roy has probably lived longer in Canada than he ever did in London.
