I really appreciate the insight you give as to how you think about the things you're doing. There are a ton of videos on how to make breakbeats on the tracker but this one really stands out in that you discuss your own thoughts and habits while doing it. Great stuff!
Did you spend some time with the tracker since this video ? would you mind doing another session with it ? i love my tracker and i am a big fan of your music. It would be great to see you make some more beats with the tracker. also basslines and such.
My dude fanu, can't wait to hear what you cook up on this hardware. BTW I listen to all your tutorials, I can listen to you talk about this tracker forever my dude
Nice one! I’ve had PT for a year now, and I really like the workflow. Reminds me about the FT2 and Renoise -era, but still keeps it somehow super fresh! I slice breaks always using the shift key. So when you press shift after selecting either slice or beat slice, you can choose how many slices you want - so it’s easier to see the waveform and make an estimate visually, how many measures there are 8/12/16/24/32/48 etc. After that it’s more a matter of moving slices to exact/desired points with jogwheel on your right fingertips + slice and adjust buttons in your left , rather than adding slice points 👍🏻 ping-pong loop would be a killer with slices! You can sometimes fake it in the sequencer using reverse sample playback in fx lane, but I know it’s not quite the same.
Yes, I did think of this (counting slices), but with some beats (esp. longer ones, played by a human with ghost hits here and there), it's actually quite tricky counting how many hits there are. With some "steady" rhythm it'd be easier.
I don't know how you've done it so it sounds so seamlessly! I time-stretched 8-bar Amen break, chopped up neatly but when I played it sounds very unnatural, adding swing FX didn't do much help. I know it won't sound like Slipmatt's Breaking Free tune but I go around circles and need to realise everything again :(
I never timestretch the drums, as it may make them sound a bit unnatural. It's about chopping each hit, finding the right pitch/pattern, and tempo :) I do give a bit of personal tuition on this every now and then as well as constructive song feedback and help, so feel free to get in touch if you ever want that.
Appreciate i@@fanusamuraii got more drums to practice on and give you a shout if I get stuck! I was only referring to metallic timestretching as I love sound of it LOL
Little trick: If you press shift on the slice page you can slice per length division :) really useful for breaks
Thank you.
Great video and amazing piece of kit! I can't wait to get myself one of these.
Finally! The 1st vid about the polyend showing proper chopping. Thanks!
Glad you like it; had to be done :)
@@fanusamurai Thats right somebody had to do the chop eeeh the job :)
A modern tracker in 2022. This surprised me. Not going to lie.

This helped me know I’m going in the right direction but need more time with the tracker, cool vid 👌🏾
can't wait to make some nasty jungle
Great video, haven't got a polyend device, but the process works for all trackers.
wow man, you got beats straight out of your head 👍🧑👌
Yeah, that’s how I always do them with any device - need to hear it, then do it.

Very nice. Sick drumbreak!

Think I gotta make more videos then :) Thank you!
This gives me Octamed vibes from the Amiga days!
That's what I started with in 1992 :)
@@fanusamurai Same...my first DAW, so exciting at the time.
A long way to go....
Jungle got no ranks.....

Hey Fanu! Is this still something you mess with often?
Yeah! It rocks!
