A very simple description. Thank you Kevin. I am learning a lot of easy basics with your tutorials. The best to find in the net. Hope to meet you personally sometimes.

That man who is standing over at the wall, behind Rusty, at about the 10:59 mark, you guys should hire him to just walk around in all your videos.

Keep in mind this video is almost 5 years old. We have made a couple updated ones and have a short series on beginner carving.

hi guys, i have a question about oiling leather that's not been stained. i see tooled leather that hasn't been stained but has an antiqued look. i'm told it's just been oiled. does oiling only tend to darken the tooling as if it was antiqued but still keep the rest of the leather some what natural looking? if so is neatsfoot oil one you would recommend or another? thanks for any help.

Oiling will darken the leather but not give it an antiqued look. You can use antique paste, but it will also stain the leather. However, you can use an acrylic finish AFTER the leather has been oiled and BEFORE applying antique paste. This will give the background and all highlights an antiqued look. Neatsfoot oil works fine! You can also use vegetable oil or olive oil.

Your camera operator needs to decide where to zoom in to and stay there.

I like the topic and I need to practice hard to be a little less bad. Please forget the zoom, too much too fast and too late the action is gone. Work with the presenter please.

Kevin Hopkins Hi, you are correct of course it's all a journey. Three years ago ago I had only ever used leather as an accent to my woodworking. My only tool for leather a new blade for a craft knife! Your videos at three years old still form a great guide, and hold a wealth of information. Thank you and your team in the shop for helping me travel a part the way forward with you. Keep up the good work.
