The Hugh Jeffreys call was hilarious!
I’m so glad you liked it. ^^
@@ComputerClan Welp, I'm late so maybe I could still get a reply lol
Ayyy nice video ken and hugh jeffreys is there too
Hey ken look this guide to fix magnetic damage: www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-repair-screen-from-magnetic-damage
"Yesterday Shipping". I have to start using that at work; we sometimes get orders that were supposed to ship months before they were even printed.
Yo.
Hey! We really do seem to have similar video interests.
@@HeadsetGuy Late 90s/Early 2000s Macs are NOSTALGIC to me. I remember always wanting an iMac G3 as a kid.
iteachvader I can relate. I had wanted an iMac for three whole years (recently got one 😍. It’s from 2011 😬)
@@robertburgin8110 But the odd thing is, I NEVER owned a Mac! I'm a PC guy through and through, and yet I wanted the G3 because of its sheer charm.
I want amazon to do yesterday shipping.
Same, but I'd also settle for the shipping from Futurama where it's sent via secure air tubes to you house in 5 - 10 mins. lol!
Well, shit no time travel
Same XDD
@@CommodoreFan64 oh yeah
Timezones let you do this
Hugh Jeffreys is one of these people that i don’t expect to collaborate with you. Very nice!
2:39 Ken: I don't see how that's going to wo- eMac: *Helloooooo Kennnnnnn*
This was way too funny
Itsssss baaarrrbbiiiieeee
EEEEEEEEEEE mac
When people say eMacs, I only hear emacs.
At least it plays Snake out of the box.
When people say iMacs, I only hear iMax.
Bruh I can’t use emacs On Catalina
Matthew McCreary bruh I know that it uses 10.5 max
Well shit.
10:10 According to MacTracker, it looks like the 1.42GHz eMac (which was the last model, coming out in 2005) did come with the option of either an 80 or 160 GB drive.
Love the video, eMacs have always interested me quite a bit. :)
Ah. That makes sense.
@@ComputerClan Yeah, I wasn't sure either, so I looked it up (on a Power Mac G4, no less xD). It does make sense though. ^.^
Hug gettin' into the N E G A T I V E L A T E N C Y life.
frickin -1000 ping lol
4:57 Wohooo! I paused the video to read what other people had to say about this, and only when I had it frozen did I notice you picked a comment of mine. That felt so nice (and unexpected). Really cool indeed.
Cool dude
I remember when my school was full of these things. Good times. All the students use to colour them in with whiteboard pens haha.
We did the same at my elementary school 😂 so many awful things on there
@@paincreatesfameyeah. I feel sorry for what they had to go through😂
I remember having on in my school. Sea of IBM thinkcenters and that one eMac. It was the best computer cause it had games. I remember playing halo and marble pro deluxe on it . Happy memory’s
I used these in high school, i remember that some of the eMacs had a third party mouse that had a scroll wheel and others had the basic apple mouse and people would get to the class early switching the mice from other ones.
When I saw “pens” I thought “penises”. LOL
There is a live spider inside my eMac, I found it when I moved it from my basement to upstairs. It just came out of the casing.
Apple includes a free webcrawler with every eMac.
Oooooo now I wanna put an emac in my parents room my dad would be scared to death.
Yesterday shipping? Seems legit.
Great video man, I love all of your stuff!
A couple things for those interested -
I believe only the earliest eMacs with the removable larger-holed speaker grilles have the "good" speakers. I've heard that the later models like the one you reviewed don't compare at all with the sound quality of those ones.
Also: regarding the "magnetic" damage to the screen - I've had a few of these computers shipped to me and I've experienced that exact same damage. It's happened only to those that weren't packed very well, which leads me to believe that it's drop damage to the CRT's shadow mask itself, not magnetic damage. I would think magnetic damage would be fixed by a few power/sleep cycles due to the degauss coils built into these machines. This did not fix mine, and it looks like it hasn't fixed yours either.
The ones that were packed *extremely* well have suffered no damage to the screen.
Also, giving the top a good slap to shake the shadow mask would change the colors, similar to how the speakers are making your shadow mask vibrate around 14:30
You and your channel is what got me into vintage Mac computers
I'm flattered. Thank you : )
Give a degaussing wand a try. Easy and cheap to get, don't overdo it, hold it in front of the monitor and wave it slowly in a 360 degree pattern. It should at least help clear up the colour problem. The eMac has a built in degauss but might not be strong enough to clear it.
Hey, really enjoyed this! A few years ago I restored one of the original ones with the 700 MHz G4. That wire for the power button is shorter on the older ones if you believe it. I have seen the speakers effect the CRT in mine the same way, could be a small design flaw. They made an official stand for these too that I was able to install on mine. :)
i remember we had a few emacs at my elementary school in 2009...they fascinated me more than the flatscreen imacs that dominated the computer lab.
In my school they used old ass windows do era pc’s. even in 2016 they used windows xp

5:50 I'm probably the only one here that would enjoy a good old ElectroBOOM reference
No, you're not
I enjoyed that too
just missing a FULL BRIDGE RECTIFIER here n there :D ,
Same here
Great minds think alike
You are not alone
I got one of these for $20 at a garage sale a while back! A really awesome machine!
Sweet crossover
Thanks!
Man, you have a really unique sense of humour and I like it. Keep it up!

Capo. Bravo! very professional, kind, clear, experienced, you can't ask for more
When I worked at Best Buy I got my wife an Emac on clearance....
It was, without a doubt, the perfect computer for her. The CRT was amazing.
Remember at this time LCD screens looked like ass and this had a DVD player and looked incredible when playing your movies in 4:3
Hey you got a eMac, what’s next to come!
(Also, Veo is a shop where I live)
the first bit was hilarious! great video by the way.
Two of the best youtubers around
I really enjoy your channel. You are super entertaining. I really hope this reaches you!
"I was REALLY high...up when I took that photo." Suuuure you were Ken. ;-)
Two of my favourite tech youtubers in one video? SIGN ME UP!!
I think the speakers were really good compared to other machines commonly found in education prior and concurrent with the emac. I had them in middle and high school and they were good for the time.
Oh memories! I remember when I first used this in preschool around 2005 along with the iMac G3!
Oh, you young people! PRE-School in 2005?? I first saw an IBM XT in 1985!
Space balls moment, Go to Ludicrous speed. When eMac appears.
Our video editing lab in high school had mostly G3s, and a couple eMacs. Everyone hogged the eMacs with their beefier specs and much better flat CRT display.
The teacher had a G4 iLamp with Final Cut Pro that only the teacher's pets got to use.
I used to work at UCONN in the summers during the mid-00s. Their library, Babbages, had a dozen of these lined up at the back entrance. They were only used for web surfing next to the cafe.
Been a while since I checked your channel out. Still got it!
Nice I also have 2 ex-Dixie State College (now Dixie State University) eMacs with one restored and currently restoring the other.
I have an eMac 1.42 model, from I think 2006, that I maxed out at 2 GB of RAM (Yes it can take 2), and I wanted to try an SSD setup for shits and giggles, but I assume capacitor failure recently killed it, as it died one day about 2 months ago. I hope to fix it some day, but am unsure what parts I need. I don't want to take it to several pieces and lose them waiting on new caps. Also, yes, decent speakers. Collab with ElectroBOOM is needed as well.
The analog power board on these frequently has failing capacitors, mainly from age and poor airflow. Your eMac is powering on, which is a good sign, but you may want to check the caps and pre-emptively replace them. The board should be visible near the neck of the CRT with the white main casing removed. Best wishes.
The caps on the motherboard may also need replaced too. Mine has two visibly blown caps I noticed while cleaning it. Also a 1.42Ghz. Not sure about the older model eMacs, but the 1.42Ghz was the last model they made and it was definitely impacted by the capacitor plague of the early 2000s. I wasn't ware the analog board also had issues.
Well mine appears fine. Despite the 2 blown caps on the motherboard it still boots and runs fine. Some minor convergence fringing on the very edges of the screen (but it's miles better then what I'm seeing in this video. :P ) but otherwise still has good picture.
I do plan on replacing the caps on the mobo at some point. Fortunately they are through hole mounted caps, so they won't be a pain in to replace. :P
Mine was the DDR ram model too. These can be upgraded to 2GB of ram. (Though Apple only officially supported a max of 1GB).
The optical drive seems to have died though. I had to swap it out. It doesn't read DVDs anymore and I don't think it was reading CDs anymore. Laser diode tired or maybe bad caps on the logic board? Like the iMac G3 I have, everything in this thing is IDE so I had a few other spares I can toss in so it wasn't really a problem. :P
I have a boxed eMac (1.25GHz, 2GB RAM, 80GB hard drive) with Tiger in my basement. I love it but given its size and weight it's hard to set up and use if you just want to mess around in OS X for a bit.
So, should we expect a PowerBook 150 restoration soon?
the good thing about crt monitors and all in one computers with a built in crt ( heck anything with a crt) Is that if a small creature makes it inside it dies. Of course you must clean the device but at-least they don't run out and do all sort of weird stuff.gotta love the HV part of a CRT.
My elementary school used to have a bunch of these (or something very very similar, I can't quite remember). I still remember using them.
i still use my eMac as a Retro Game Emulation Machine. Old Console and Arcade games look fantastic on that CRT
Oooo. Good idea. I should throw my MAME on there.
I love yesterday shipping! :)
Now this. This is golden.
How does yesterday shipping work?
Who else can’t unsee the smiley face on the inside of the shell (6:48)?
Used the shell as a lampshade
Hey where can I buy that Vio assistant?
Yesterday.
[object Object] yep
I had one of those. I love that little computer. Actually I think it is the last vintage Mac I owned.
👍 awesome stuff!!
Nice! Just got one of these for my anniversary in October. Love it! And yes, the speakers are great ;)
Yeah! I like this lil' machine. (and by "little" I mean 50-pound beast).
@@ComputerClan LOL Exactly. Mine has a pretty cool stand that came with it. I replaced my iMac G3 in my kitchen with this one (even though I just maxed out the ram on the G3) because the speakers are SHOT in the G3 :( However, with this machine I can actually access O365 webmail, and I can use it to remote into other PCs and Macs around the house. That way I still get to use some native apps but can still use it as a terminal when I need to do something modern. I do that with a lot of my "not too vintage" vintage machines ;)
My family had this for awhile. It was great.
What's with the screen of the PowerBook 150 at 2:04? Why does it look burnt and scratched?
That cause it dose not work he bought it damaged
It looks like the LCD panel is severely damaged and needs to be replaced
Wonder how yesterday shipping works nowadays.
I have the slower 1.25 GHz model from mid 2004. Originally came with Panther and 512 MB DDR. Mine was slightly upgraded to 1 GB memory and has a bad speaker for some reason. Aside from the anti glare coating slightly being gone, I cannot complain when I used it. Was an overkill OS 9 machine for sure but the fact that AirPort Extreme is unsupported in that OS made it a bit inconvenient to use.
Can you please explain why you say Hugh donated the eMac despite the fact that is the video description you say it’s Steve? Please explain
I remember my elementary had eMacs and for some reason there was a copy of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 installed on every computer lol
I love the yesterday shipping part
I wished mailing services overall did yesterday shipping
My high school had eMacs in the Library. The Mac lab had iMacs in it. Both were set to boot in OS9 because the school district and the Votech refused to upgrade until Mac anti-virus was ported over. They used Norton Enterprise AV on the PC's and Mac's. The business department used Windows PC's running both 98 and XP.
I think technically if you ship something overnight by air from Australia to the US at like 01:00 local time, if the flight is ~20 hours and the delivery happens straight from the plane it could actually arrive on the previous day.
I love the and feel of these emacs i have 2g ram and upgraded to a 1tb ssd its fast for 1.4ghz also bought the Swivel stand for mine and added the apple wifi card because it didnt like any of my usb wifi adapters. Great computer overall.
Ahh I can’t believe that Hugh Jefferys is in this video because I didn’t even take a look at the thumbnail and I just feel like HOW DO TWO TECH FELOWS COLAB IN AN AMAZING VIDEO !!
What about last infinity melleniums shipping?
Have one myself somewhere, a 1.25 GHz G4 and 2 GB ram
The eMac was the first iMac I ever saw in person, and I was wondering where the computer is, because all of my smart learning taught me that the thing with the screen is just a monitor and the actual computer was the box thing. I had seen all-in-one Macs before like the Classic II and the LC 520, but there it's obvious what part of the case is the monitor and what part is the computer.
We had a couple of these at school in the textiles room, but we never got to use them. I just used to sit there not concentrating on what the teacher was saying and just staring at the eMacs and wishing I could go on them 😆
@Justin Chanyong Rhee lmao I'm in the UK😆
When you said Hey Vio, my Mac's Siri turned on XD
I wish AliExpress and Banggood did yesterday shipping too.
The original emac had different speakers than the newer ones and they were soooo much better!!!
Oh yeah! Good point.
@@ComputerClan I was also very underwhelmed about the eMac speakers when I heard them on the 1.25Ghz version I once had and think the iMac G3 are much better.
5:50 he sead something about electroboom
Lol. How is it possible to loose one of those huge beasts? 😂
I was not ready for that spider
I wasn’t either (Hugh’s spider). x_x
I like Old macs like
Power book!
can i kinda get that for free?
or is it theres money for it
Ft. Hugh Jefferys?? The crossover we don't deserve
veo is a great addition to the show!
5:50 *shocking* reference
question:is the GUI not trippy
I would have prefered “Same day air”. Seing the mac drop through the seeling and him counting floors
I actually unboxed a new one when they first came out...they were so odd even back then....for the education market
what a beautiful system
I had, and loved, an emac growing up!
*need to get that eMac I'm looking at just to see this video with those speakers man*
To this day, the speakers on these eMac’s are incredible. If only Spotify still worked on PowerPC!
@@CodyKloepfer I'll try it... I like my music. And if I can't get Spotify to work (not even the web player) I'll just put a bunch of music on that eMac.
Had me dead at yesterday shipping 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Man this makes me nostalgic from my elementary days.
I actually have the original software install discs for that model, except for disc 13. My school let me take them.
I almost bout a 17" emac back in the day, didn't like price so bought a Dell.
I was working with ibm at work, didn’t want to face the same blue screen at home so I bought an emac
Nice Hugh 🤙🏻
10:20-11:17 I wish that ad was real with Veo saying "And now, a word from our sponsor" and everything.
There was 2 different speaker grills on these too
i think that its yesterday shipping because of aussie time and us time being different
Cool intro!
I’m an Aussie with an eMac that I purchased from my primary school after using it in the computer lab for many years.... I hope mine doesn’t have a spider in it!
My kindergarten had those! I still remember that
8:48 meanwhile I literally cannot look at any kind of CRT without getting horrible headaches instantly lol
There was a room in my old school filled with CRT monitors and I couldn't enter the room without perishing haha
I have extremely sensitive eyes when it comes to things like that
The boot up tone is my iMessage notifications alert, that’lol wake ya up😱
My school had these things in the computer lab, I basically learned to type on these things.
Ah, I had one of those; got it for free from a guy I lived with at one point. Great computer, actually. Was the first and last Apple product I ever owned.Had 10.2.8 on it.
