Tom and David - The most popular Doctor amongst the audience Peter and Matt - Follow-ups to the most popular and the youngest Doctor of each Colin and Peter - Everything stated in this video
*The 4th Doctor and the 12th Doctor*. Both started with a companion who had 1 season before their run as Doctors and the companion started as a tough person who became tired of travelling even if they really loved it (also Elisabeth Sladen's full name is Elisabeth *Clara* Heath Sladen which has a certain similarity to *Clara* Oswald because it's a tribute to the character), both played with yo-yo's to check gravity, both had a first season finale with Cybermen, both were the most mysterious characters in the 50th anniversary (besides the War Doctor), both had a story about origins (Listen vs Genesis of the Daleks), both were taken care of by someone else during post-regeneration in the first episode, both had a mechanical enemy in the first episode with a bigger mastermind, not to mention one started in Season "12" and the other started in Series 8 which divided by 2 eras equals "4" or 12th doctor + 4 doctors = series 8, both had jelly baby references, although one loves wearing the scarf, the other finds it stupid. Coincidence? No...it's simply the *Whoominati*.
+Robert Green No, no: 6th and 12th is right... first, the action Doctor (3/9), then the iconic Doctor (4/10), then the young one (5/11) and now the grumpy ones (6/12)!
DarthRushy Yes, yes: You're just not seeing the Doctor (even the 12th Doctor would ask you the same question he asked to Clara in "Deep Breath"). It's the same alien divided in 14 incarnations, which of those, 12 kept the Doctor title and they're all connected to each other at some extent. I could even do one comparison between the 1st Doctor and the 9th Doctor or the 6th Doctor with the 3rd Doctor or the 2nd with the 11th. In some moments of each Doctor, another previous Doctor echoes through if you know really well where (or when) to find that Doctor. The 12th Doctor shows a lot of the 6th Doctor (which seems to be the main psychological image for this Doctor...even Colin Baker says so. He even makes a comment at conventions that "each 6 Doctors they get it right" - meaning they really look like each other from a distance of 6 incarnations and they're both awesome and alien), but he can echo other Doctors as well... He can echo really funny doctors (Pat, Tom, David, Matt) in many scenes ("are you my mummy?", the yoyo, the brilliant post-regeneration scenes, etc). He can also echo the action hero, especially in Flatline and Death in Heaven (like Chris and Jon. Even the suit he wears is as simple and dark as Chris's jacket and as red as Jon's cape and the 6th Doctor had action scenes as well!) He can also echo the serious quirkiness of the 7th Doctor (the funny magician type which can apply to the 3rd Doctor as well). Although, he can't echo romance from the 8th Doctor (really REALLY far from that point, unless he liked being kissed by his old friend...I wonder about 12th and River's relationship as well) but he goes more into the "adventurous gentleman" type from the 5th Doctor and the later 8th Doctor I guess... and I think the 12th Doctor can capture the warmth from the later 1st Doctor and the 8th Doctor in rare occasions. He also has an old face with a young inquisitive and funny mind like many of previous Doctors (especially when he just wants to talk about planets above anything else to make things more like a cool learning trip instead of a dramatic experience)
4 + 10: Both highly popular Doctors, with high ratings. 5 + 11: Actors were the youngest at the time. Both had some success but not as much as their predecessors. 6 + 12: Basically said in this video, but the two also had over a year long hiatus (obviously after this video was made) If this trend continues, will the 13th Doctor have really poor ratings resulting in the cancellation of series, even if there was some really interesting character development? It's not really conclusive but 3 + 9 were both quite 'hands-on', with an Auton story as their debut. The actors also did not feature in their predecessor's regeneration story.
Damn both 7 and 13 got hit with with low rating and a huge overall on the Doctor's backstory for better and for worse. Keeping this going 8 and 14 are both only appearing for a special release and will be trying to find out who they are. And so far 9 and 15 are starting a new era of the show helmed by RTD.
And now both will have multi-Doctor stories with two Doctors (the current Doctor and a sixties Doctor) not at an anniversary special, but just for the heck of it.
If Capaldi gets replaced with a short, seemingly unthreatening but actually scheming Doctor that'll just make me think the parallels are on purpose (though at least Peter has a decent costume)
3rd and 12th. both had a season 8. and in their season 8 they had the master in every story. both had similar behind the scenes pictures. both had recurring companions (brigadier/sergent benton/captain mike yates)/(danny/courtney) both had no idea how to fly the tardis when they were born. both had round things in their tardises. both changed their tardises rapidly throughout their lives. both wore red. both went a little crazy after regenerating although i guess they all do. and both visited earth in every story for their first season.
number 6 is my 1st favourite Doctor Who for 3 reasons 1: I've met the person who plays him (who is my first and only so far) 2: He's a Doctor incarnation of the 1980's (that was an excellent decade in time) 3: His voice is very distinctive and presentable
the 5th and 11th doctor are pretty similar. Both cast after a long tenure, both the youngest actor of their time, both under a new producer, and both kind and vulnerable with a dark side that usually goes unprovoked.
Love this video sound design is exceptionally good there are some great in jokes and Billy's performance as "Pompous" really rubbed off here the accent, walk and body language were spot on Sixth Doctor!
That was a wonderful voyage around the particulars of two of the pretty perfect Doctors discussing details of their distinct but different personalities. Wonderful work.
While I do see the similarities between 6 and 12, I also think that 9 has a few similarities to both of them, especially their confrontational side. Was that on purpose? Who nose? Well, you do. Anyways, good sketch!
+Joseph Carlisle and both companions are dark haired and curvy, who get replaced with a more exuberant (tbf I'm not sure what asBill is like yet but I'm getting that impression so far) companion with really curly hair. Though hopefully Capaldi will get an actual regeneration.
CaruCath97 I hope so too, I don't think I can wait another 30 year for Big Finish to do it or for a 5 minute short for the 100th anniversary or something lol
Great video, definitely one of my favourites your have produced. The first part though with the music had to be the best part though, it was so accurate.
+Jokuman also, both 2 and 11's primary companion was a Scot in a skirt (their names even rhyme!) and their secondary companions were intelligent and tended to snark at the Doctor.
***** this is brilliant! Good thing I subscribed to you recently and this is my first video that I have watched... Love it :D also loved the way you made the video 640x480 (could be wrong) for the sixth doctor.. Has the great 80s feel to it and how there would be some static at the bottom :D.. Keep up the good work guys :D
You fools if you only you'd waited an era, (Ho,) 6th Doctor=13th Doctor, -Both eras are seen as the downfall of Doctor Who, -Both had the lowest ratings in Doctor Who history, -Both eras consisted of a confusing part added to The Doctor's timeline, (Valeyard and Timeless Child,) - both would wear bright clothing that was despised by the fans, - Both would have a contrasting attitude despised by the fans, - Both would eventually settle into their roles as the eras went on but the damage was already done, - Both were played by a talented blonde actor/actress who DESERVED SO MUCH MORE, SO MUCH MORE!
So many people are down on th Sixth Doctor, why? People say oh he tried to kill his companion...When he was suffering extreme trauma and paranoia for his regeneration. The Seventh Doctor literally reduced his "tough" companion to a nevervous wreck to beat Fenric and worse needlessly did it twice in Ghostlight. The Eleventh Doctor massacred an entire race for crimes he could remember them committing, sexually assaulted Jenny, stalked and nearly tramatised Clara, and let his wife rot in jail for a crime she didn't commit. But six is arrogant and got a bad coat....?
I notice the parallels between the Second Doctor and the Eleventh Doctor whenever I watch a story where the Eleventh Doctor battles the Cybermen, the Ice Warriors, and the Great Intelligence.
Oh man. As soon as you opened with a classic vs new walking shots joke, I knew this was a keeper. If I had a say I guess Hartnell VS Eccleston. Both the first doctor's of their era, and it's been said Chris based his performance around William's. Plus, if you can do this bang up of a Sixie impression, I'd love to see your take on Hartnell.
I'm normally wary of fan videos like this because they usually turn out rubbish, but this was surprisingly well done. And funny coincidence, I was just about to watch Terror of the Vervoids Part One followed by Into the Dalek. Side note, I also wish I had the Sixth Doctor and the original Twelfth Doctor's costume. Basically... I this video was definitely for people like me. :)
There's a Sixie costume hanging in my closet... But don't tell anyone. Great vid, FiveWhoFans! Not tooooooo fanwanky, but - fanwanky enough. Great references, and great performances. My subconscious says - work on your colour grading next time... But we don't listen to that subconscious.
I've spotted some: 1st Dr & 10th Dr -had 3 seasons & a few stories before regenerating: Season 1-3 + 4/ Series 2-4+Sepcials -story/s with a relative: Susan/Jenny 2nd Dr & 11th Dr -travelled with a popular long running Scottish companion that has been in nearly all of their stories: JAMIE/AMY -had a UNIT story with just stewart then another later with Stewart and a new recurring UNIT role : Power Of 3- Kate then Day Of The Doctor- Kate & Osgood -Also had 3 seasons
The 1st doctor and the war doctor!the war doctor may have been a warrior but he still had a bit of the first characteristics I think? Great video by the way! Keep up the good work! :D
But.... but...... why use the TARDIS pavilion music from Castrovalva as a "theme" for the Sixth Doctor? It wasn't even used in a single Sixth Doctor story, nor did it's composer Paddy Kingsland score any Sixth Doctor serials. Musical pickiness aside, that was very enjoyable! And quite true, mostly....
*I met a very good 6th Doctor cosplayer and impersonator at comic con years ago. I was the 11th Doctor fro. Series 7 b. He came up and spoke to me as the 6th Doctor, I wish I got into my role of the 11th Doctor and had some back and fourth, but I was a shy kid then, damn what missed opportunity. Haha*
Two of my three favorite Doctors in one video? Fantastic! ...And now that you've pointed out the similarities between the Sixth and Twelfth Doctors, maybe I'll give Six another chance.
What about Clara Oswald, and Clara Clayton from Back to the Future part III? Both teachers, both paradoxes, both have feelings for a time travelling Doctor!
Tom and David - The most popular Doctor amongst the audience
Peter and Matt - Follow-ups to the most popular and the youngest Doctor of each
Colin and Peter - Everything stated in this video
I secondthat
You could add Pertwee and Ecclestone - more action-y doctors who helped renew interest in the show but are overshadowed by their immediate successors
CaruCath97 and now 7 and 13 both had rather crap first series and were silly but both darkened and had a much better 2nd series
@@doctorwhoproductions834 Let's hope the similarities stop there, the show would never survive a second cancellation.
@@daphnejyothi4795 don't worry its going strong plus 7th was better than 13th anyways i just hope the 14th does not get the paul mcgann treatment
That was a spot on Sixth Doctor impression
Yes
That Colin Baker impression... too perfect.
'You wish you'd put cushioning around the console.'
“ How many Doctor’s are in this blasted Forest anyway “
Love that line🤣❤️
Both actors were fans of the show that turned in good performances, but were hampered by the materiel given to varying degrees.
Now that Colin Baker voice is spot on
The Twelth Doctor running in the forest was hilarious 😂
*The 4th Doctor and the 12th Doctor*. Robert Green Hm, suppose you're right.
I thought I was the only one who noticed this
3 is 9
4 is 10
5 is 11
6 is 12
You know, without context you would sound like a right nutter.
The Woda 1 and 7 also have a lot in common, not sure about 2 and 8 though
How is 5, 11?
5 is 11 because they are both the youngest doctors of their shows
The Woda 11 is supposed to be 2 and Eccleston is nothing like pertwee. 10 is more like 5, 9 is more like trash.
4 + 10: Both highly popular Doctors, with high ratings.

Yeah, it definitely did continue with the ratings. Lets just hope we don't have to deal with ANOTHER 15 year break after Whittaker leaves
You predicted correctly the 13th with poor ratings, boy howdy!
You should forecast weather or play the lottery at least.
Damn both 7 and 13 got hit with with low rating and a huge overall on the Doctor's backstory for better and for worse.

holy crap Colin baker is freaking impeccable.
uncanny in every way
I can't believe how well Six's actor has got his cadence down.
Not gonna lie, I REALLY want to see this as a Multi-Doctor story now...
That awkward moment when the show goes on an 18 month (more or less) hiatus about 30 years after the Colin Baker era did...
If Capaldi gets replaced with a short, seemingly unthreatening but actually scheming Doctor that'll just make me think the parallels are on purpose (though at least Peter has a decent costume)
Colin's coat was glorious! (then again, I am partially colourblind ;) lol)
+Russell Tietjen I suppose it does have the uncanny ability to clash with about anything
Hahahaha, he was replaced by a short woman :)
@@russelltietjen4407 Partially colour blind from looking at the coat, I presume?
I love that you referenced Evelyn smythe
I recognize that synth. That's the fifth Doctor's cricket theme, when he discovers he has a love for cricket post regeneration.
Both ended up with a stupid hiatus as well.

"like what"
"like penguin with his arse on fire"

I've got to go with Peter, sorry Colin

+7pitpat7 I prefer Tom Baker
I prefer Patrick Troughton
Where's McGann? Everyone knows he's the best! :P
he only done a really bad doctor who movie, hes one of the worst hahhhahaa

Your Sixth Doctor impression is superb, Billy. Brilliant video!
Wow, okay, the music and Christel kicking the black bars were absolutely genius!
The guy who does the 6th Doctor was excellent :D
Tenth Doctor and Fourth Doctor
Sideburns, wild eyes and grin, immensely popular, faced the master as their final villain etc
Also, had another doctor born during their run, the watcher and the meta crisis ten.
That was VERY authentic 'running like a penguin with its arse on fire'
6th doctor most underrated doctor colin baker an amazing actor
That was a wonderful voyage around the particulars of two of the pretty perfect Doctors discussing details of their distinct but different personalities.
Wonderful work.

both companions die in there second season
And end up surviving it in the final episode of those seasons, leaving the fanbase divided on what was better

Love the mention of Karen Gillan. Thank you Christel Dee as Karen is my beautiful wife.
-Of course this was written by Joel-
Does both of them having a strange sense of fashion count as a parallel
Thank you sooo much for making this!
The beginning of this video perfectly describes the original doctor who tv show vs today's show
you just made me realism why I like both the 6th and Capaldi they are a lot alike cool
Whoever was the sixth doctor was amazing. But both of you did great!
Yes, both Doctors had SMOKIN HOT companions.
Where did you get the costume for sixie? Stunningly accurate!
You fools if you only you'd waited an era, (Ho,)
6th Doctor=13th Doctor,
-Both eras are seen as the downfall of Doctor Who,
-Both had the lowest ratings in Doctor Who history,
-Both eras consisted of a confusing part added to The Doctor's timeline, (Valeyard and Timeless Child,)
- both would wear bright clothing that was despised by the fans,
- Both would have a contrasting attitude despised by the fans,
- Both would eventually settle into their roles as the eras went on but the damage was already done,
- Both were played by a talented blonde actor/actress who DESERVED SO MUCH MORE, SO MUCH MORE!
Amazing sketch! Very interesting parallels too ;)
So many people are down on th Sixth Doctor, why?
Your costumes are good, I love how for the start of 6, the screen glitches like an 90's video
The Fifth Doctor VS The Eleventh Doctor! Please do that one next!
This was brilliant. Nice joke with the aspect ratio and all Doctor impressions were pitch-perfect.
