    I used to always add celery and onion to my egg salad. One day I had no celery or onion so I made it anyway. Just mayo, French's yellow mustard, salt pepper and cayenne. It was so good. I didn't miss the crunch because the cayenne gave it a good flavor without it being too hot.

    Instead of mayo I use butter to held the eggs together
    and added the green onions and chopped up cheddar cheese
    Then the egg whites

    I use a hand held grater to do my eggs perfect everytime. No knives works great alot faster too. Same for the yolks for deviled eggs.

      I hear my students chanting years later, “ A-space-l-o-t!” It was a pet peeve of mine, and once, at a conference, the incorrect form was on a slide presentation. From the front of the hall, I heard the chant, and I knew my five girls had been up in time for breakfast.🤭🤫

    Maybe it's my Southern Heritage but I have to have sweet chopped pickle in egg salad, tuna salad or chicken salad. And finely chopped celery is a must!

    I've always used the egg slicer gadget, length and width wise, so quick. I add mayo, sliced celery, sliced green onions and finely shredded carrots or radishes for color. I would have liked to see your finished sandwiches. Thank you.

    I never realized until now that it's not super common practice to crack the shell all over!
    Guessing by you saying many people do it other ways, and the comments kind of confirming it.... It never occured to me to do it any differently, it's how my grandparents taught me to 💜

    It's funny, as much as I love egg salad I've never made it. Always just bought from Pret or Starbucks. Have you ever used a little relish for add'l flavor? Thanks for sharing your recipe.

    To save time and less mess, I use an egg slicer lengthwise and width, then mash the eggs with a pastry blender for a smoother texture. Easy and fast. A favorite addition is 1/2 teaspoon of mustard powder and a tablespoon of the juice from Trader Joe's pickled jalapenos. it's creamy, sweet, and hot.

    Good Grief ! Give the Lady some slack - sooo not super duper extravagant with waaaay to many ingredients, but most appropriate for a decent creamy and tasty egg salad - plus the celery addition is fabulous.....And..... the Lady has a fantastic smile and personality !

    I’m a little hesitant to mash up the yolks as part of the dressing but other than that it sounds great. I add this honey spicy too expensive mustard but a little goes a long way to give it a kick. In sometimes add sweet relish but extra moisture risks a watery mix which is no good. Always celery and one guy’s recipe says include the stalk leaves chopped up for color. I love green onions because regular onions are overpowering. The same recipe that suggested you chop up the celery leaves also added chopped up cloves of garlic, which I’ve never seen but it doesn’t sound bad at all. I add an orange or red pepper chopped up just for color and crunch ….. there again careful to dry them to it from getting watery. Dill weed, some Lowery seasoning, salt pepper, and parsley, fresh or dry and it’s perfect.

    @5:08, the celery conversion. Small celery chunks is better than a "celery sandwich." So true! And let me add, celery potato salad.
    I dare you to try this. Growing up, this what Mom did. She would put sliced green olives in the egg salad. Think salad olives. Bigger chunks give you a flavor burst. Don't know how it will pair with the celery, but it might be worth a shot.

    Needing to be gluten free I've come to love making egg salad that is more chunky than this & putting it in gluten free ice cream cones. The cones don't need to be refrigerated or frozen to keep & therefore are a quick & tasty container.

    I searched "best egg salad" and you were the second video listed. The first was that Bon Appetit video, but yours sounds so much nicer... He added a big dollop of horseradish and scoffed at adding much else.

    Belive me when i tell all you other egg salad lovers... The secret to the BEST egg salad recipe.. is the perfect balance between mayo, yellow mustard, honey, fresh chive, onion powder, salt and white pepper. If you like a little tang, add a tiny splash of white vinegar or pickle juice. But taste first cus some like sweet and some like tangy..i personally think an egg salad sandwich should be perfectly balanced.

    tap the top and bottom of the egg, then roll it- back and forth long wise, voila; it will peal easy.

    Try rolling the egg lightly to crack instead of tapping.

    Make sure you wash your eggs before peeling...That way you don't get the shell!

    Peeling the egg without rinsing first or peeling them on my prep table? Oh no! Rinse those babies under running called water for at least 5 min! Girl, I’m afraid I’d get eggshells in the salad! And that would be bad!

    I won't use any celery Parts above the split of the celery where it goes to the top section, if you taste a piece of celery 2in from the very bottom and you can pair that taste to a piece of the green just above that seem or knot you will find that the top of the celery is a lot more bitter than the bottom of the celery

      I like the whole celery stalk plus I hate wasting a lot of food. but you are correct that the top is much more bitter!

    8 hard boiled eggs get a egg slicer slice turn once slice mix mayo green relish not to much i still like to taste the eggs
    chunky style salt/pepper to taste thinly sliced green onion fresh chopped dill to taste mix gently with fork
    WHAM🤩4 MINUTES NO MESS your done
    toasted egg salad sandwich with a bowl of tomato soup (Grandkids love🥰it)

    Great presentation but I don’t see the point of separating the yolks from the whites and preparing them separately. It would have to make a HUGE difference in taste to be worth the extra time.

      I think it adds a little extra creaminess to the dressing and makes sure all the ingredients are well distributed, however, this recipe would still be totally delicious if you skipped that step!
