Nice to see Miss Hubnut driving yet another car on the fleet and talking to the camera while doing so. Glad to hear Bella is in good working order again.
Lovely to see Miss Hubnut doing piece to camera. Whilst I don't have much to go on she is a good driver and getting better. I want more Miss Hubnuts on the road.
As I found out recently when buying parts for the XC60 - quite literally buy cheap buy twice! Very glad to see Bella back up to strength and Miss HubNut did a a great job relaying the first part of the drive! ♥
About your starting problems, try this, Switch your ignition to the on position, but don't start it, count to 10 switch off, switch back on again to the ignition on position, count 10 again and start the car , if the car starts easily it is likely that your glow plugs are weak. If it's the same get your diesel pump checked for low pressure or slight blockage.
@HubNut Maybe doing this to test glow plugs is actually a good idea on the basis one or more glow plugs could be defective from new, as with your recently replaced sensor.
Great to see Bella back and fit for duty. Lovely to see Carly confident to comment on the change in driving performance as well - experience growing less than a year in. Nice update team Hubut!
Re your starting problem, we had a Peugeot Partner van with the same engine and the same problem, especially when cold after it had been standing it was almost impossible to start. If it hadn't been stopped for long it was fine. We eventually concluded that the diesel was draining back into the tank overnight, probably due to a minute air leak somewhere in the fuel system which wasn't enough to leak diesel but allowed air in when standing and the fuel gravity fed back into the tank. Not wanting to replace lots of pipes etc I got round it by fitting a non return valve in the rubber feed pipe from the tank under the bonnet (not the return pipe). That stopped the injector pump draining overnight so the engine would fire with a full pump and then pull fuel through. That cured it. Don't know if you have the same problem but worth a look.
@Hubnut. This sounds very much like that may be your problem as that cold start was definitely lack of fuel pressure…. Give her a few pumps of the primer bulb and get it nice and full of pressure and see how she starts on a cold start….
We had the same issue on our Picasso, caused by a cheapo ebay fuel filter letting air in. A decent quality one from the motor factors fixed it. If this issue starts after a service, this is likely the cause 👍
6:55 You forgot you fitted new tires! Modern car ECU's usually have a self learning capability. With the faulty MAF it has learned wrong parameters. Hence the shitty running. Now with the new MAF it will relearn again and store new better parameters based on that new MAF input. That might probably improve the way it runs with increasing longer use.
Nice to see Miss HubNut again, and to get her reaction to the improved Bella. Good to see Ellie enjoying her part in the adventures too. Very enjoyable update.
Great to see her running better, it's always fun playing 'spot the road' as you're just up the coast from us. Reluctance to start & not all the power there could be a part blocked filter or injector or just not enough time on the glow plugs for cold start. HYDRA DPB-100 is excellent for clearing injectors & cleaning the fuel lines. I've used it for the last 10 years every 3-4 tanks in 6 cars over 500K miles

Emmmm still thinking Bella is a bit of a money pit, fingers crossed you have a good run with her now without spending more on her.
Good piece of advice always get it diagnostic checked once installed. As different units use different sensor settings and may need reprogramming to match the correct data
The 2.0 HDI Starter can get slower without being noticed, and as a consequence will not spin it over in the cold just fast enough for a quick start or no start. This happened to me and took me a a bit to work it out.. Thanks guys!!
I'm glad that a decent MAF has made all of the difference. I do like a Berlingo, I'm a big fan of the car based van but I do think you fell in love with the wrong example, I get that it's an interesting colourway but it has been a bit of a money pit.
Regarding slow crank speeds on starting.. It feels like dead battery yet you shove new battery in it and it makes little difference. .. One of my Berlingos had this problem.. I decided to fit starter motor from a 2001 Synergie 2.0 Hdi that I scrapped.. ( long story, not relevant here)...Fixed problem.. higher crank speed solved starting problem as it was better quality more powerful motor.. PSA cheaped out on the bulk buy of starter motors as the Berlingo is a budget car in range ...I sourced another Synergie/806/Dispatch van starter to go into another Berlingo that I ran ( and I still run) .. Performing fine to this day.
I had the exact same problem with mine. Someone had put a cheap MAF on. I fitted genuine Citroen brand new part. Drives really good. That was four years ago. No problems since. It never has liked cold weather starts. Tried new heater plugs new fuel filter. Could be an age thing. Ha.

Glad to hear Bella is going better, the reason for poor starting could be glow plugs if they haven't been replaced and id definitely advise changing the 4 in one go if that is the case though it could also be the battery and/or the starter but I know that when my diesel car was hard to start I had one dead glow plug but I sought to replace all 4 as they usually give up one after the other.
Probably not connected to the Berlingo, but having had Mass Airflow Sensor problems before on our Honda HRV, check the big rubber bendy air pipe between the air filter and the engine. If there is a single split in any of the folds, then it can throw up all sorts of MAF error codes or problems. Even one fitted brand new three years ago has now started to fall to bits and splits everywhere. Speaking from experience and lots of money later!

The control unit looks really corroded underneath though. I've also got a set of new glow plugs to fit - which ought to be easy as the engine's been sat on the floor of the workshop since April 2023 - but I'm absolutely terrified of them snapping off in the cylinder head, so I haven't touched it yet.
Done glow plugs in most of my hdi 2.0s owned since 2008. Never had one fail to come undone.. Only problem is getting the one out nesrest high pressure pump..requires partial dismantling of the high pressure pipework.
@@paulluce2557 That's really good to know, thanks. I'll have a go at it when I'm not in the mood for yet another marathon welding and fabrication session.
Really informative about the Berlingo. I have an '03 Peugeot Partner 2.0 HDi that seems to be mirroring your Berlingo. Makes sense I guess, bad sensor giving duff O2 readings particularly at the low end. Still hard to think of when you've already changed it. I hope you give a suitable review to the eBay seller.
So….. a naff maf! Keep an eye on fuel rail pressures on DW10 engines as the fuel pumps can tire with age and it takes longer cold cranking to build the fuel rail pressures before the injectors will ‘fire’. Glow plugs failing don’t help cold starts on these. Just be careful removing old ones, they can and do snap. Stay safe in this wild weather we are dealing with.
