    Fun fact: In multiplayer mode and co-op, Amy gives pity shields to allies hit by the hearts her hammer generates.

    I feel like if they make her hammer hitbox in the air a little bigger, then she'd honestly be the perfect character for me to play as tbh
    Before this video I always saw her as the platforming equivalent of a glass cannon, but her being a hard mode Sonic with her own feel to the game makes more sense

    I think the hammer hitbox and time in the air isnt her biggest weakness( I didnt even consider it one as the timing is really easy to me atleast). Her biggest issues compared to the others is her lack of air propulsion , she has much more careful platforming as if she misses her jump , she has no recourse. Sonic has thok , knuckles has glide , tails has fly , metal sonic has hover even fang has bounce. She wouldnt really consider her the harder version of sonic more of sidegrade.

      I completely agree, Amy needs a double jump like in Superstars, not a high jump. This would also give her platform correction and a way for the player to correct any mistakes they make with their hammer attack. If you miss the hammer attack timing on the first jump, you could use the double jump to try to hit the enemy again. Plus, it can allow her to carry momentum a bit better.

    Funny how you call Amy the hard mode. See, the hearts she generates from hammer swings give ally players a shield on contact.
    Playing her is like playing a White Mage or Cleric in an RPG. Challenging alone. But in a party, she blesses her allies with amazing survivability and defense in team based game modes. She’s kind of a necessity when doing a boss rush or playing with noobs.

      Well, save for Dandino, in which clerics are arguably the easiest class to solo with. Cf. Neverwinter Nights.

    if you wanna hit something but you have a shield, press jump twice as Amy. it'll do the same as if you were to not have a shield and press spin after jumping.

    Just thought I would give my own insight to the whole sprite detailing...
    Amy's current sprite set (as of 2.2.13) is just a modified, better shaded version of the old 2.1 Sonic sprites. Note how much more of a circle her face is in comparison to her upcoming resprite, as well as the nose being a bit weirdly positioned, and off course her badly sprited quills from the diagonal angles.
    The same also applies to Fang to a much less severe extent, given his stand sprite, the shading of his whites, and his goofy looking quarter circle smile.
    Sonic, Metal, and Knuckles at the time of 2.2.0's release, were the most complete sprinting wise, thus why the respites for them are mostly focused on cleaning up shading and smaller details. Tails did get a resprite from 2.1 to 2.2 as well, but his was much rougher in comparison, such as the very muddled looking mouth, and blurry looking pupils.
    So any complaints about Amy looking a bit like Sonic in some places is mostly attributed to the old 2.1 sprites carry over.

    Since her movement abilities are object dependent, Amy is the game's platformer. In fact, with her higher jump height, in areas in which Sonic is "forced" into honest platforming, Amy is often easier.

    I'd much rather amy have a double jump. It would allow her hammer attack to be much more forgiving if you miss it on your initial attempt, so you could use the 2nd jump to correct your mistake and have a second shot at making contact with the enemy.

    this has to be the worst playable form, shes sooooo boring in normal play and ends up being a handicapped sonic at time when you don’t see a spring. Compare this to advance 1/3 amy and its just underwhelming. Amy was suppose to be a high risk and high reward type that gives you more moves to allow you to do things other characters can’t plus the power up springs. Second worst vanilla character for me, right next to fang

    If i remember correctly, there is a bug in the game that makes amy give out shields to other players in co op, they kept it since it was quite harmless, why did you not mention that fact?

      I've never really discussed multiplayer in my reviews, because I simply don't play it and the majority of people I've seen barely even realise SRB2 has multiplayer game modes. If I played it more, maybe I'd start mentioning it, I just... don't have anyone to play with.

      ​@@The_JackalManwell, there are plenty of servers out there too. Some of them also modify the vanilla characters, so keep that in mind when experiencing the game again online.
      Fun fact: when 2.2 first released, all players in co-op during Castle Eggman act 1 had to stand in the room before the bridge collapse sequence to activate it, and any player who died and respawned would then enter a secret exit just off to the right side of the room. However, due to both AFK players, and trolls who intentionally stayed away, it was eventually patched out so that by default, the gate to the bridge is already open, and the bridge no longer collapses in multiplayer. Thus leaving the secret exit unused under most circumstances. (Don't know if it still functions in the most recent release)

      @@SmashCrafter321 SRB2 EX keeps the bridge sequence alive, and makes it so that it activates when *anyone* enters the area. Yes, the secret exit still functions as intended.
