Honestly I feel extremely lucky to have you working on my project, top quality work, a great guy to work with, I could not recommend you enough, thank you
I find it odd people expect to make money on a restoration. Every other hobby you lose money on. Pay for your golf membership, green fees, clubs, balls etc, you won’t ever get any of that money back. Odd one.
Awesome, thank you! Really glad you enjoyed it. Check out some of our other play lists. We did a 1979 911 earlier in the year and will be doing a 356 Speedster very shortly
Thank you! We always aim for factory or better! Gaps still need a little bit of refining which we’ll do once it’s off the jig but it’s all within 1mm at the moment 💪💪
Some of the neatest seam sealing I’ve seen! Love the smoother finish on the raptor too, maybe not so hard wearing tho. Great work, look forward to the next! 🤙
This restore was really great to watch - keen to see the final product now. That spot welder sure comes in handy vs plug welding. Are there any modern alternatives to the lead filler?
I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it, check out one of our other playlists. I reckon I’d only be halfway through at the moment if I had to drill, plug and grind 😂 There is a lead replacement filler called PbSn which we do use over welds we’ve ground down before using normal body filler however, it doesn’t offer the same flexibility that proper lead/tin does. For this reason it’s probably not as good over panel joints / seams
Great vid again!… clear step by step with explanation 👍🏼👍🏼 So on the larger areas where you are butting panels together you are miging a small (1/2”?) area then blowing air on it to cool it down before doing the next weld?, what size wire are you using? 0.6? Cheers…
Thank you 👍🏻 yep that’s right, I generally do 3 tacks then cool. If it’s an area I know is prone to warp I will only do one tack and cool (like the sunroof area on the mk1 golf video). I’m using 0.8. I used to use 0.6 but it got quite expensive in comparison to 0.8.
@@classiccarrevivalsofficial cheers will watch the mk1 vid…. Yeah I bought a roll of 0.6 thinking it would be better/cooler - I’ve only done a little practice panel and found it kept catching/stopping in my 4m touch/line… need to get a 3m I think(with new liner obvs) .. it is more expensive! It’s the same weight but there’s much more wire … my tiny mind can’t work out at this time of the morning whether that makes up for the price difference or not!? 😃
You get a bit more control with the 0.6 wire but have to feed it in quicker than 0.8 and like you say is more prone to snag. My advice would be to go with the 0.8 but just do some practice welds to get used to the change in welder settings
Brilliant job, but just wondered why you spot welded the door skin so many times & creating a lot of work for yourself, never bothered myself once they are welded in at the windows & tiger sealed
I prefer to do it this way as they did the factory. Only time I use a 2k panel bond is VW splitscreen side panels as they’re a huge amount of work to get straight and even then I spot weld around the outside (sill - wheel arch etc). I guess it’s a personal choice.
The bigger the challenge the more interesting it is!!! Although it does drag on sometimes. It’s always the small list of bits and pieces at the end that take forever!!

Why are you spending so much money on a 912?
Btw: yes they are/he is doing an amazing job
Any time! Thanks for choosing us Pat, it’s been a pleasure to do 👍🏻👍🏻

waouh bravo
Thank you 🙌🏻
Fantastic attention to detail😀
Thank you 😄
I reckon gaps and sealing better than when it left factory. Jeez that boot lid… excellent work again.

Thanks! As mentioned it’ll be getting another good coat of raptor but even when smooth you’d be surprised how tough it is. 👍🏻
Looking good!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Fantastic Work, well done 👍

Can you Raptor over Raptor at a later date, or will you spray paint over if the client chooses to go colour?
We will raptor over raptor but make sure it’s keyed up well first.
What MIG wire are you using?
0.8

What took so long? You should have had this done years ago. It was a slam dunk job. Geez.
😂😂 tbf I’ve been off of it for about a month as I have been working on other projects too!
@@classiccarrevivalsofficial And here come the excuses....
@@classiccarrevivalsofficialTo be fair, you went from the 9/8ths Ferrari to this 70% of a Porsche. You clearly like challenges.
