The problem with interviewing a real estate agent is they simply cannot help themselves, promoting what they believe so strongly in, so you're getting a very biased opinion, which almost feels like a sales pitch, but I still appreciate your fine quality video.
Better quality of life for much less money? Cheap movie tix? No car traffic on the main drag? Fresh food? 50-cent avocados? 75-degree winters? Doctors who make house calls? I can't even afford to go TO a doctor here in New York, and that's with health insurance, so called. Most of all: ocean breezes. Sign me up! And those low taxes? Yes, please. I think I could do this.
Thank you for the links to restaurants. I love food. May I suggest to also include links of expat groups, health insurance, long term accommodation. This will be greatly appreciated and helpful to newly arrivals. Thank you.
I have been there a couple times, and took the ferry as well over to Cozumel, but I would prefer Puerto Vallarta or Merida to live and Playa to visit, since it is so touristy & basically a one street town. Just my opinion.
@@HamiltonRb My goodness! A "One Street Town"? Sure, 5 Ave is big but 10th and 15th street are also awesome and would be great to visit on their own not to mention the 40 some Calle (Streets). So many of the best restaurants can be found outside of the very touristy 5th street. I have been there some 6 times and have spent several months in the town and always find something new each day as I roam the streets. Get off 5th. Speaking of restaurants, I have found Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Lebanese, Italian, French, German, US, Mexican, Myan, Vegan, Vegetarian, Stake Houses, Bars, pizza, and many more. English is usually spoken by someone in each. Activities abound all around the town. It is a great take-off spot for many parks and activities. Everything from the enormous Xcaret, Xplore down to a simple cenote or beach swim. Although the beaches have suffered recently from the tide of sargasso grass, on good days they are beautiful, something that Marida certainly does not have. I have also had a great time in Puerto Vallarta but most beaches there are rocky and the water is cold. Old town Puerto Vallarta is fun but can not compare to the density of shops, restaurants, B and Bs, and small hotels found in Playa. I also do my major dental work in Playa. A room, flight and the dental costs for an implant also cost me less than half in Playa compared to here in the US.
Bill White I live half the year in Puerto Vallarta but have visited Playa, which I like also. PV has a much more spread out variety of restaurants, shopping and activities which makes it more livable for me
@@HamiltonRb Yes, I would agree that PV has a lot to offer and it is more spread out. I especially loved the Sierra Madre mountains. I must say that because of the density in Playa, I feel a bit safer walking around on 5th, 10th and 15th Av than walking at night in the PV old town area, with the exception of the beautiful Malecon.
Spent 10 days over Christmas and New Year, 10 mins by car from Playa Del Carmen (Barcelo Maya Resort). Outside of our highly secured hotel was absolutely awful poverty. Basic infrastructure is lacking. Internet at our brand new premium room was way too slow. Weather and beaches are gorgeous people are friendly and hard working. BUT, this naturally beautiful region is really just dotted with international wealth juxtaposed on a poor, corrupt, dangerous and dysfunctional society. Such a shame.
$2.000 for rent, $1.000 for food, $1.000 for medicine and your doctor and $1.000 to have fun, everyone! Let's move there. Very affordable right? Right!
Iv'e seen places way cheaper than what she stated, like 1 bedroom apartments easily in the 300 dollar range, but on the beach of course it's a bit more pricey..
México Is amazing. now with the great projects that our federal president is carrying out. many who live in the north of Mexico are going to come to live in the south. you can imagine how beautiful it is and now you will be able to get to know the whole south more easily.
i don't have specific info on those cities but if you want basic information on buying real estate in mexico and healthcare - you can join our free webinar that we will be hosting at the beginning of June...modern-aging.ck.page/70fed0876c if you want to sign up. as far as those cities, as we get requests we can do deeper dives into those cities. thanks!!
Fantastic video and great info. I also live in Florida and thinking about coming there to live for 3 to 6 months while waiting for the Philippines to open up. So what’s it like there now since the virus? Any quarantine or restrictions coming in? Never been there but Playa looks like a great place to hang out a while. Seems safe with many expats there. I would be traveling solo.
The humidity is good for your joints? I thought dry, warm was best, I guess that’s a new way to better embrace humidity! We live in in the US, summers are very hot and humid. I love the beach, although my husband is concerned about hurricanes. I saw another video of you riding around with a really nice realtor, and he mentioned some place to live that’s kind of shielded from hurricanes, but I didn’t catch where he said that is. Can you tell me more, if you know where the realtor referred to? Thank you so much! I’m really enjoying your channel and this talk with you two ladies! Are you both realtors?
Thank you for this very informative video. Are there restaurants that serve American food as well? Like I fear I will miss chicken fried steaks and fried chicken. Thanks for the info.
Mexico is a whole world in food, there are many restaurant who serve different kind of food from mexican, Italian or american, but why do you want to go to the banket to eat french fries? Weird...
There are many other towns in Mexico that are less touristy, even in the Playa del Carmen area if you go further out of town it quickly becomes less touristy.
mexican public education is a joke, doubt they have private schools there but they are Jesuit ran schools and super expensive for the elite and catholic as well
You should get an Airbnb for a moth and just be there and decide out of your one experience. It’s my plan, I lived my whole life in California and we don’t go to some areas here like Compton but after I went you’ll see it’s not what you think after all!
It depends on so many different factors that it would be difficult to provide an estimate...but if you want to get in touch with an insurance broker, I'm sure there are plenty around who can give you a solid estimate.
What is the name of the new city being built? Susana said it so quickly, I didn’t catch the name. I’m thinking of retiring in México. Playa is one of the areas that looks great to buy and settle in. Susana is very personable. What real estate company does she work for? Or, does she have a website with contact info? Thank you.

such a seedy place, cocaine dealers in every corner, huge tourist trap, always super crowded but the real estate people just want to make money, oh and real estate is way over priced, look in veracruz or tabasco, cost you 80 percent less and quieter
Tons of black expats!! but get over the race hang ups and issues! If you're black, please don't bring that oppressed, victimized mindset to Mexico! Nobody cares about your pigment, hair or features, it's your personality and character that is important!👍😊

Living in Mexico can take off many of the stresses for sure. It's definitely worth checking out to see if you like the vibe.
I agree with you. I just did a medical test and I had to pay the hospital, the anesthesiologist and the specialist...yet my insurance is very high...
Spend a hurricane season and summer in Quintana Roo before deciding to live there. You might enjoy the highlands or the pacific side more.
@@prime8nate Totally, I just went through 2 hurricanes and 2 tropical storms and that was scary. But I still want to move to Akumal one day.
Pdc is s touristy i was bored after 3 months. There is no mexican culture in Quintana Roo. It is famous for tourists not much else.
19 years left for me.. and I am going to mexico for sure..
great info! you covered all the bases with great questions...would love one on Tulum...
Tulum is beautiful but not as developed like Playa del Carmen
Excellent video, the agent was very helpful and informative!

Totally agree!
This is not the reality here. The prices of condos or houses are more than in the USA. Groceries are high here.
Doctors are reasonable here .
I WILL RETIRE IN YUCATAN!!! BEAUTIFUL PLAYA DEL CARMEN!!
That's awesome! Best of luck in your search for a new home there.
Thanks
I found your channel from your ride with the realtor gentleman. 🙂
Nice winters, but the summers are very humid and hot. Most Mexicans live in the highlands about a mile high.
Mexico is worth considering for retirement now that they are legalizing cannabis.
Noo.. cannabis will be only approved for medical purpose, not for recreational use!!
