Swiatek's footwork is so good to watch. I normally don't notice this much with other players, but Iga makes so many adjustments and small steps. Also, Siniakova strikes the ball so well. I hope to see her more this year.
It’s not surprising to me. She has multiple grand slams in doubles and has always been a solid singles player. She even has an Olympic medal too, in doubles (I think)
Katerina Siniakova has a very peculiar serve motion, I wonder why she doesn't change that to make it more fluid. She is super athletic and quite tall, with a more fluid serve she possibly could gain 10 or more km/h on her serve. She is already a superb player from the baseline and at the net, with a better serve she probably could get to top 20 or better in singles (to go with her number 1 ranking in doubles).
Pleasantly surprise, watch this clip today. Yesterday, for some reason, I think Swiatek lose. Mind play trick. I click at end of clip and see wrong name on losing end. I think it interesting how Iga discipline and she no open up with the 'precision' winner against different opponent. Siniakova a strong hitter. Might work against you to encourage point, where ball closer to line. If you know you can win, play safer, it easier on you, but require back off end point faster.
Except Iga, she has western forehand grip, but she tries to hit it shorter that it would look like flat. Because in her “lasso” forehand the swing is practically 360 degrees. That’s why she has “nadal like” top spin rotation 2600-3000 rpm, but it’s most useful in the slow hard courts and on the clay. Maybe new coach brings new tricks but grip you can’t change anymore in this age.
@ very interesting thanks. Still wonder tho why like nearly all the successful wta players play so flat. Compared to the men’s game where there is soo much spin
@ It’s natural to have continental grip and western grip really needs perfection and the different training. Like Iga, she is boxing and when you think hitting someone the curve is similar to top spin hit. In USO2023 they measured hit speeds continuously and it came out that Sinner hit 4 mph faster forehand than Iga, on the backhand only Thiem was able to hit the similar speed. Iga’s average was higher than ATP top20. Now the new coach Wim Fissette told her that we will improve still your forehand (!) and net play. I believe myself that while she needs more time to perform the forehand, she needed to train her movement to be faster, generally.
Iga is there to get work done, like she says “rankings don’t play” so that’s why this serous business for her. Know her for 9 years, very funny tomboy girl.
Swiatek is still one dimensional with baseline play‼With her relentless ground game implement a drop shot‼It's a weapon now especially in the men's game. She also has an aversion coming to the net after sending her opponent almost into the stands on her crosscourt shots. If her ground strokes go awry she's done with no backup or versatility ‼
Yes, I agree. I saw the interview with Tin Henman and they asked him, if Iga still in this age could change her extreme western forehand grip, and the answer was that they can only make it shorter like the serve movement. On the clay and in slower hard courts the top spin is a weapon, last year in Madrid they showed 2600 rpm and when that touches the surface …..

Iga has the best footwork.
That was a serious baseline hitting from both players
I am impressed how good Siniakova is! She was so unlucky to face Iga :(

@@ohaggieshe has olympic gold in both doubles and mixed doubles
Great battle I love Siniakova she put up a great fight, this match felt like one that should have happened deeper into the tournament.
Siniakova is a fire starter! 😍
And a damn good player as well!
So much topspin on igas FH I love her game
Siniakova has every reason to be proud of herself!!! She played beautifully!
The level of this AO is high.Players are really showing great skills
Iga’s footwork and forehand reminds Justine Henin😎🔥
Her forehand sucks.
great match for both players.
Vamos Iga Natalia saludos desde Chile
That was some serious hitting by Katerina. One of my favourite players.
Siniakova seems to be forever let down by her serve and to some extent the forehand. Her backhand, movement and volleying are top quality.
JAZDA IGA! CONFIDENCE FOR SUCCESS! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ BEAUTIFUL!!! ONWARD 2025!!!
Siniakova is so good, just an unlucky draw. Go Iga!
So far so good 1GA!
Jazda Iga!!!
ESPN and EUROSPORT did not show your match. All abt coco puffs hype only. Sickening.
Not in best form yet, but I’m glad Iga is back ❤
Neither of them were in great form really. Still a good match though.
Siniakova has got very powerful ground strokes. Hopefully she will be improving further…
depending of the score, this was a high performance match, great hitting from both. very deep as well.
IGA esta jugando bien, solo hay que afinar algunos golpes, donde se apresura para golpear la bola.. Enfocar mas,en algunos momentos.
Tough luck for Siniakova to meet Swiatek in the first round..
Siniakova played well. She just is no match for Iga...a shame she had to meet her so soon❤
IGA wal z calych sil!.
Chuj z glupimi ludzmi, Ty Jestes najwazniejsza ❤️🇵🇱
This is a good match. Kudos to both players ...
Shes not severely changing her game on not clay. Love that!

Siniakova's ranking will move way up if she improves her serve. She's a hard hitter and great mover, but her serve was painful to watch...

What’s up with swiatek forehand.
Wah Sinia.... So good !!!! start of 2026 !!!!!

Such a better mood when winning, aye.
Bonny lass 😅
Siniakova all class at the net. She’s much more likable than Iga

@ okay Jukkao

Also you will die one day..just wait and see. "Love" those type of predictions.
Poor you
It is a shame to see a doper still here.
Did you just looked at mirror? Because Iga is proved innocent, so only you can be a doper
