I’m laid up in the hospital today after emergency surgery, hurting like hell, and just wanting to go home. In walks my wife two hours ago with two tickets (digital) to see Devin in Orlando in a few months. I haven’t cried like that in years. She and I are polar opposites on most things. The very first time I played Devin for her, it was Kingdom. It ended and she hadn’t said a word. Then she hits replay and proceeds to tell me that the next time he’s within 500 miles, come Hell or high water, we ARE going.
Hey yeah player! I will be at that Orlando show as well. In my case, my wife has no idea what is coming lol. Especially since it seems like his recent shows have been on the heavier, SYL end of things.
Devin is such a wonderful human being, he is so lovable and his art is just so transformative and moving. I have so much love, admiration and gratitude xXx
I've wet my pants down here in Australia in anticipation of Sir Devy's imminent arrival. Morgan smashed that out of the park. This tour is off the scale. I'm in awe.
Ché Aimee Dorval, she and DT have worked together on a few projects, check out the live sessions for Casualties of Cool. Dorval has an incredible voice.
How the hell does a person feel a need to downvote this?? AWESOME and very different feel from past live performances that were full of backing tracks. And Ché is just lovely!!
Well, i was at his concert 2018 i think, that was god damn awful, the sound was unbelievably bad, and Devin was kinda tired or something. Anyways, me and my friend, the biggest Devin fans were heart broken after. It took me a year to start to listen him again. So there's that :/
Man I fuckin love Devin Townsend. Just the creativity. Even with SYL the creativity was the vile delivery and words spewing against a backdrop of aggressive sounds and music. Nowadays he is much more refined in the delivery, but the backdrop is still somewhat the same. Not as heavy but I can still see and appreciate this form of art that he and his mates are creating. Not just songs but canvasses/ journals. I think I get it, might be above my head but that's how I see it and appreciate it.
Amazing show I was in the second lodge stage right with partially blocked seats... but it was awesome b/c I got my own little square to absolutely FREAKING OUT during the entire show... but particularly this track. One of the best shows I've ever been to. AMAZING. You have to catch this tour if you can.
Well...he is Morgan Agren after all...u know. Dude can soooorta play them drums..... Seriously now, I find it interesting for him to be playing double bass and all that. I bet he likes it. He is swedish, every swedish dude can play metal
@@YanusDV I had never heard of him till this video but instantly when the beat started I heard that something special in his drumming that only a few drummers have. I don't know how to explain it in words properly but I know it when I hear it. I'll definitely watch more of his videos.
@@Ammiel1234 One of the absolute best and most interesting drummers you can listen to. Check out his work with Mats&Morgan band or Fredrik Thorendal's (Meshuggah's lead guitarist) solo album "Sol Niger Within".
I think Morgan is faking those double bass beats though? It appears he is playing an electric pad, which makes me wonder if he is even doing them.....but then again during the instrumental part he isn’t hitting them....so not sure. But it makes me wonder. Love his drumming otherwise.

Morgan's using electronic pads for one half of the double bass pattern. He also does this on two pads for Genesis That's just as impressive as when later in this song he actually plays it on double kick pedal! What a monster drummer!
Amazing to see the transformation of a man whom I'd originally found through Strapping Young Lad. I don't listen to Devin's newer stuff all that much but he's still one of the greatest musicians on the face of the planet.
SevansVII Same for me. I was a huge Fear Factory fan and I remember Dino talking about SYL as an influence. I listened to City for the first time driving through Worcester, MA and I just couldn’t comprehend what I was hearing exactly. It made Fear Factory sound primitive and one-dimensional. But we were listening to a genius that expressed himself in metal. I don’t listen to a lot of the new stuff, but I love to see his success.
Holy sh*t! I was wondering the other day what the hell Mike Keneally is doing this days and then he shows up here with Devin. unexpected but very cool =D
I'm going to miss the show in Vienna because I have to work - and we can't take any time off in December. I have never before so seriously considered just quitting over a single event.

This tour was about two weeks away from hitting First Ave. here in Minneapolis when Devin, before there was any real mention of the impending lockdown, postponed/ canceled the show and the rest of the tour. I was heartbroken, but fully understood and respected his decision. He probably helped prevent a great deal of virus spread by doing so. TG I was able to attend the 2016 Transcendence tour when it rolled through... 'Kingdom' was the highlight of that show, without question. Here's to more Empath performances in the (hopefully) near future!
