If you ever doubted the beauty of bush flying, watch 5:00 to 5:50. The best 50 seconds of motivational aerial footage I’ve ever seen.
Hey guys! Thanks for all the comments regarding the fuel cap and suggesting a chain or leash for it. The reason we don't do this is that the cap would be bouncing around in the wind if left off and would do damage to the wing, and replacing a cap is much cheaper than repairing the top of a wing. I definitely have added it to my preflight check and will be carrying a spare from now on!
Why not have a hinged cap.
Maybe some way of securing the cap -'in tank' so that it won't flap about..Seem to remember some such design...you won't forget to secure it because it's such a pain when trying to fill up....Having spares is a good idea and a good way of gaining 'credits' on your flying buddies...WE need to see that 'Race Plane' of Mike's up close...as mentioned elsewhere, fantastic aerials and coordination (maybe?) with the aircraft/drone stuff....hopefully no 'ad hoc' drone tomfoolery...
solder a wind vane on it so it won't windmill & come off?
I love seeing the drone and a manned aircraft playing so well together!
Man, I love that music during the drone shots. All the music you use is perfect.
Easy to see why you make your living with photography. Such marvellous shots.
Fuel caps are fun! Awesome.
I’ll come visit you next time.
Cory Robin If you do, drop me a line. I'll fly up to Stead. Love to meet in person.
Perhaps you could add a final walk round before you climb in to your seat Trent? It's a lifesaver (literally), and an SOP at the GA company here in NZ that I work for. Every time, just before we start an aircraft to go flying, we do a quick circuit of the machine checking the basics - controls free, chocks out, doors closed and latched, fuel caps in. Never know when it might just save your bacon. I reckon it's helped me from a tight spot once or twice!
Love your stuff mate, epic part of the world you've got there!
Joe Mathieson Good work brother! Sound advice that’s kept a few mountain pilots safe over the years!! Would be fun flying with these cowboys eh!, awesome vids Trent!! From another NZ pilot 😊
That is sofa king rad to see bush planes flying formation over a beautiful landscape with an awesome sun setting in the background! You guys rock!
Yay another vlog! I'm slowly becoming addicted to these, Trent! Thanks for putting in the work on these and sharing it with us. These videos are an awesome distraction from daily life!
I learned 50 yrs ago to ALWAYS do a LAST minute walk around inspection before startup.
I still do it without fail... Even for my cars.
(Some folks think I'm paranoid, but I've never forgotten a gas cap!!)
JEEEZ Trent, you are SOO GOOD with the scores to your videos, you get the emotion just perfectly! The Blues intro and the music for the short field drone work is just perfect for the setting.
rainbowblack1 seriously, just the opening alone with the graphics tied to the modern music, the plane inverted barrel roll, I mean I’m blown away every time with the entire production
Lol what a teaser at the end. "Here's my gas cap, oh look there's Turbulence and Mike Patey, guess I'll go now and we'll talk more later"
Seriously that footage was epic! Like something from a multi million pound film! Epic just epic!
Another great clip, love your editing and music mix, thanks for taking us along
Always carry an extra fuel cap. I own the Stolp Starduster TOO. I bought the Aux tank from a different fabricator so I had to modify the neck to use the same cap as the main. With the type of flying you do, even the most paranoid 'emergency' kit would only add 50 lbs. WELL worth the added GFW.
All the smoke around here is making it hard to breathe but makes for some awesome lighting in your vids. Great job Trent.
Love the aerials and formation flying around 5:40
Cheers
Your videos have opened my eyes to how beautiful and fun the Wild West is. I keep looking for a North East coastal pilot to come up with anything similar to the fun you guys have out West but so far it’s just the regular cockpit footage, noisy radios and such.
Wow, that drone footage was beautiful. Your style of low and slow brings back images of Redford flying his plane in Out of Africa. Need some bison to fly over. Cheers.
Hey I just watched a video you published back in January about how you make your videos, it answered all my questions. Thanks for such good work. Also please take extra precaution while flying in regards to safety, don’t ever become complacent or too comfortable in what you do. Thanks again.
Love this channel!! My Mom used to fly in Alabama (Secretary at the airport). She did solo.
Thanks trent you and the Flying Cowboys l love watching you guys fly around different parts of the US specially Draco awsome airplane
I dig your honesty re fuel cap. Love the drone work. Cheers Trent. Safe flying ya all.
You have the best intro Trent! It never gets old.
Dude that Intro Musik hit me hard again. Its just so so so awesome. The feelings that come through it... just *woooaaahhh*
Loved the music and sunset scene.
So much fun to watch. And so well put together thanks.
Great finishing shot! thanks for sharing!
Awesome having friends with such incredible toys!
A video fit for TV! Some epic production skills being shown here. Nice work! 👍
Excellent, love the drone shots.
Your drone footage is always ...... Epic!!
Thanks!!
Outstanding work, thank you for sharing.
Trent.... It’s called “Pre-Flight “.
Carrying a spare is good, but will never replace careless behavior.... 56 years Stick time and still going strong. Terry&thepirates
Trent
Your videos rock. Keep them coming.
That smoke is apocalyptic. Also, someone at the airport has a friggin' L-39!
That shot starting at 5:06....VERY nice.
Great trip and great footage!
I really like your videos and flying adventures. I did a lot of low and slow flying in an old WWII era Stearman back in the day. Most Americans have never seen America from the low and slow perspective. I was thinking if you could tour America's historic immigration routes low and slow from your Fox, like the Oregon and Santa Fe trail you would really have a neat show that could attract a sponsor and earn you some money and put you in a business. Viewers could see American low and slow and what the immigrants faced along those routes. Your commentary, landings at historic sites would be gravy. Think about it. We need some quality, historically oriented air travelogues and you have the talent to do an excellent job. Best wishes, Alex
Quintus Dias Dias Hey thats a great idea, networks all around the world would buy that. There is a British ex politician (cool guy) who started doing a journey around Britain by railway trains. That has expanded and he has now done a series in loads of countries around the world. If you are interested in doing that I would love to help. Drop me a line Andy
Great video, Trent! Love watching your bush plane adventures. It would be such a blast to join you for a flight... I just need to get my own bush plane and live a lot closer to you (I'm located north of Dallas, TX). I guess I'll just join you virtually via your videos. Keep up the great work, and have fun flying! See you on your next adventure. :)
Trent, your videography is spot on! I'm not a flyer myself but love watching your work! Rock on!!!
Awesome! B-roll at the end was epic. 👍
Love these Vids. Epic stuff!!!
Great video! Looking forward to part two!
That "drone b-roll" was f'n on point!
How about a light tension spring to POP it back into position when done fueling😂😂. Just kiddin! Love the vids. Thank you for sharing👍🌵
What an awesome spot it was and how beautiful were these shots at sunset!
Big round all over from Europe for you Trent!
Man...you're killing me! I haven't flown in over a year (new job/move/new house), and I'm really starting to get "the itch" back! I've got a barn and 3 acres...maybe a kitfox is perfect...
Great footage. I really liked the drone shots. Flying drones to film planes makes for unbelievable footage.
A+ for the B-roll!!
Great drone B-roll shots!
Another winner Trent.
Your production skills make something as mundane as fueling the airplane fun and interesting to watch!
Great video. Saw you fly over Provo the other day. Rotax motor and stars and strips, can only be one person. Trent!!!
This is some of, if not the best, aviation related UA-cam channel right now. Totally awesome stuff please keep it up!!
Great vid! I'd love to hear more about how you handle high density altitude and mountain flying in a light plane.
One of my favorite channel so far.👍
Your videos are just breathtakingly amazing. The shots from the beginning and your intro all the way to the outer just amazing! Keep up the great work!
What a great video! I have to admit I get a little jealous every time I watch. Keep the good videos coming for us little guys!
Another great vlog. Thanks trent. Its been great to watch you and your channel grow. At the same time i am another person and another pilot by following my dream to fly. Thanks for being a good influence and inspirational in this end.🤘🤘
So I’m a pilot wannabe and I also fly drones (though primarily for fun). Your routine vids are excellent but the drone vids in this episode are incredible.
Excellent vid as always!
I watched the movie 'Top Gun' the other day, your 'B-Roll' footage reminded me of that. Awesome!
Quality video Trent. One of your best yet. You're as much for GA than anyone else out there.
Amazing footage
Dude, that b roll was A+!!!
Your videos has a nice touch, like it. The drone adds some valuable twist to it, 100% like. This seems to be freedom.
You make amazing videos thanks so much and look forward to more!
Trent, with the fuel caps If you are not holding the cap in your hand put it on the floorboard inside. That's what I do, 2 days ago it saved me from leaving one off.
fantastic drone b-roll!!! Happy 100K you called it.
Extremely good production. I get excited to watch the videos no matter what the content is.
Dude, this was awesome! The people want MORE! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thanks Trent. Nice vid again. From beautiful Namibia, Africa.
Thanks for sharing those good videos, greetings from Argentina.
Trent, there ought to be a law limiting how much fun you guys are having! JK. Looks like a blast. Thanks for all your awesome videos!
“Breathe” by Ian Post is the epic b-roll soundtrack around 5:00 for everyone asking
Great drone footage. Really adds a lot of interest to the vlog.
Recently found your channel and I must say i absolutely love it:) Keep up the great stuff
No doubt y oy do some amazing filming with the drone. I'm really loving this bush planes they seem so much safer than a regular aircraft I mean given you are are a conseous pilot thanks for sharing.
Very cool plane!!!!
Love the videos. Soooo jealous as there is no such sort of flying like that in Florida. I like the electric skateboards for awesome runabouts and so practical given the small plane's capacities. Of course, for us older gents who never used a skateboard before, starting now might be nigh unto suicidal. Having played hard and suffered many a crash and multiple reconstructive surgeries from motocross and other oversealous mishaps since teen years to well into middle age, I find that I really don't bounce, or bounce back, quite like I used to. You guys have fun and stay in one piece.
It just gets better, some stunning shots there Trent, make sure you include 'fuel tank cap' on your checklist ! loved it,thank you.
A positive note for low wing aircraft. One quick glance out the windows tells you that you forgot to put the fuel cap back on. Was with a friend once who saw the fuel cap laying on the wing as he looked out to make sure it was clear before taxiing from the fuel pumps. He not only shut down and put the fuel cap on, but did another complete walk around of the aircraft before getting back in to make sure he didn’t have another brain fart. I’ve now owned that same aircraft since 1995 and have never forgot to replace the fuel cap.
Great video. You need a safety Cain or cable on the fuel cap so you don’t lose them!
5:07 Awesome drone footage.
Love your videos. All I can afford to fly is RC now. My full scale days are just memories now, so I live off videos like yours.
Just started watching your videos a couple days ago and I have one huge glaring problem with your channel... There aren't enough videos! I've been in school my whole life and still have a couple years. Youre living the dream that i've been planning for and it's so awesome to be able to see it through your lens. Keep it up and keep the videos rolling!!!
Thanks for making the videos .
Fantastic!
Glad i Found this Channel. Living my Dream. Thanks for the Great vidoes. None better in my opinion. What a life...... Trent you "Made". Good Karma all the time
So good dude!!
Another kick-ass video! Love the new intro btw
Awesome intro with the guitar!
Love your videos wish they were a little longer!
Dude, nice shots !
Hey congrats on topping 100k subscribers Trent!
Thanks made my day
All you have to do is remember to get a spare fuel cap ... remember why you got it ... then, when you need it, remember where you placed it;-) That is enough fun at your expense. Now, I need to remember the great advise I just gave to you and apply to the man in the mirror (Where did I leave those keys? That’s right in my locked truck ... with the engine still running!). Keep these great videos coming, Trent.
F#$%'n gas cap! That B-roll though. Thanks for that.
Absolutely crush it with the cinematography! love your videos and the content, keep up the amazing work (and motivation!)!!
