I very much agree with you, friend. Wow was a big part in my life. It's crazy to believe I used to stay up until 5am to get my honor kill results updated from the previous days. It's times I could never relive again but can only hold on to these great memories.
Simpler times. Highschool vanilla/tbc. Still living at home, spending time with friends or fam or spend 2-3 days online because you grind for something. I got like 5h a week MAX to play anything atm. Weekends are total bust if the misses is not out with friends or at her parents place. I'm still a gamer at heart, just zero time to devote to anything.
Me too man. I just miss to just let go and get lost in gaming for a couple weeks. Too far in life... I will never going to have that again until im old and in pension probably 😁
I know your comment is 8 months old from today, but let me explain anyway: Tanks had to build aggro, which required rage, if you didn't take enough dmg you wouldn't be able to build enough rage to maintain aggro. Meanwhile you had to keep up various debuffs like thunderclap, demo shout etc (depending on how good your gear is) Today tanks do heavy dmg and have no problem keeping aggro however a 70 tank did less dps than a 60 dps did in vanilla, which only made it harder to keep aggro. Hope this explained
Eriwen did u play a tank back then? It was nothing but a simple rotation that let u throw in extra sunder armours when rage permitted, the fact u had to under gear to tank lower tier raids or you would be incapable of holding threat was a fucking joke. Same issues with paladins no longer needing as much healing in tiers they out gear which meant less mana which meant less threat so you had to deliberately make the healers life harder so that you make the dps happy. "Great" system glad they fixed it coming into wotlk, this comes from someone who played warrior tank pally tank/heals and resto sham.
you didn't "undergear" if you wanted to let fully geared raid dps go balls out.. You just wore several pieces of high armor (and stam, if possible) plate dps gear. also, a quick "x" to sit down and take a crit was always good in a pinch :)
Once the patch with expertise came out near the end of TBC it became so much easier (and more fun). I did miss weapon damage, though. Those pieces were so rare and sought after! The mace off this boss right here was fantastic for non orcs (esp humans)!
Thunderfury was used because it reduced the target's attack speed by 20% as thunderclap only did 15%, they didn't make thunderclap 20% until about the MT Hyjal patch, if I remember correctly, I do know that Thunderfury was the primary tanking weapon up until Archimonde.
Also, as far as I know, at that time the water was still bugged and the fishes didnt despawn when killing the trash in the platforms. (or something like this) So the only way was to run around the circle without getting killed. Someone with greater knowledge can correct me if im wrong.
Sigh...I remember these days. My guild was small, but it was still part of the guild that I joined when I was invited at level 10. We got into SSC before too many nerfs and managed to get this guy down, Hyrdross, uhm...I think we got the elf demon hunter who makes people bleed if they get his debuff, later I got in with another guild and got Vashj. TK, managed to get everything with another guild. BT, went through it with another guild on my resto shaman before the huge 20% nerf. It was awesome.
haha exactly what i was thinking.. 8 years has passed like it was only a short day... well. at least that's what i feels like for me. :) still i wont regret a second i spent playing up until wod..
SSC was extremely buggy in its original state, if you watch the original video you can see them mentioning in raid chat multiple times that the lurker below is 'fixed' and no longer buggy.
i love the feeling when you slice your sword into the enemys flesh pumping your dps up to the maximum like a pro while trance ins pumping top 1 dps in raid getting atleast server first after weeks of hard progress that is just unbeatable
Can anyone look at the Nihilum vs Razorgore video on UA-cam? I am searching for a while for a soundtrack that Nihilum uses in the background of the video, but so far no one has been able to get the right version of the soundtrack. If anyone can assist I would be very VERY grateful.
that's what I thought I remembered, but now I keep seeing people say it was because thunderclap gave 15% and TF gave 20%, so TF would override it and make TC unnecessary, which was good for threat etc. if you didn't have to worry about keeping it up. If i had a TF back then I would remember, I'm sure, but as I just started with tbc I can't say if my memory is wrong about that or not.. Guess I could just look it up... lmao
The reason why Nihilum and later Ensidia where so good on the world first race kills was on how insanely good was Kungen managing threat and controlling his dps mates on the guild. Best RL in the first 5 years of WoW by far
Uh...Kungen was not amazing at managing threat. There were many prot warriors in top guilds who were. He wasn't one of them. He was a GOOD tank, but he was more of a raid leader/guild manager than an uber tank. he's SO good at "managing" threat that I rarely even seen him use a threat meter in his pov videos. Even if you were (and he wasn't) the highest TPS tank on earth you should still be using and watching a threatmeter as a tank (or as a dpser). It's just silly. I can imagine him raging at a dps for pulling aggro on something and claiming "a tank doesn't need to watch their threat, YOU (the dpser) do!". lol I've also seen him type shit out like "focus" or "im low hp heal me" (I'll tell ya first hand, healers, esp good ones, hate to hear.....or see?...you say that during an encounter) while literally actively tanking (or I should say actively being focused by a mob/boss, lol). Who's queueing up HS and keeping shield block up for him while he's doing that? Gimmie a break...
I knew many tanks just like that. I used to watch every kill video and pour over every single WWS (and later WoL) log that I could. I analyzed the shit out of them, because I'd notice things that didn't seem right for a main tank in such a position (like in a top10 world guild)...then I'd look over the entire log and see that "wow...he must be an amazing guild/raid leader because he's NOT performing his job 100% in terms of dps/tps, debuff uptime, trinket usage, avoidable damage taken, etc). You'd be surprised. Were you 2 actually tanks in bleeding-edge progression guilds? Or just Nihilum fans? My vote for "most likely" the best overall (well known) prot warrior during late tbc and wotlk would probably be Xav (Xavastrasz in tbc) of Premonition, although I hate to say it due to the ego he seemed to have back then, lol... Other than him, some of the absolute best prot warriors came from guilds who were ranked in the 10-100 range. I guess it makes you try a bit harder :)
@@SargentShred if you say that then you either were never a main tank, never raided hardcore (anywhere NEAR the top), or were just always a super Nihilum/Kungen fanboy. Or some mix of the 3. End of story.
this was the easiest boss in the entirety of 25man tbc raiding. Easier than loot reaver..... edit: okay, MAAYBE shade of akama was as easy. For some guilds. I guess if you had trouble with lurker it goes from being basically free loot to an unbeatable clusterfuck, tho.
@@intuit13 Oh, yeah yeah. I agree with you, it's not hard by any means. I just really hate the fight design. I remember asking to be benched for SrC just to avoid this boss lol.

you can see Kungen taking damage from the frenzy's while in the water, so either they didn't kill all the trash to turn the water heater on or maybe it just wasn't working like that (or correctly) at that time. I think Kungen is using the Thunderfury because its so fast so he'll gain more threat of hes Heroic Strike :] and it has chance to increse speed 2 thumbs up :D will mean spam on heroic strike since warriors like have 100 rage all the time in raids :)
