    Nice, old fashioned video!
    Clear as mudd. The design should be easy to adopt for any tailstock, any lathe.

    I went to a meet and greet in Benicia, CA today. There was a Unimat Sl 1000 with about every accessory you can imagine for $600. It was tempting! The "Tailstock Die Holder" looks like a very useful threader for external threads 10/32/10/24 or smaller. I think I'll try and find a set of the 5/8" dies. In some cases smaller is better. KOKO!

    Lyle says the dies are 5/8 " OD. Please check your ones if you are NOT in the USA. In England they are 13/16" OD.

      All my small dies are 13/16" including one or two that were made in the US of A. Good that you pointed this out Dave. I didn't know 5/8" dies existed. Cheers Nobby

    Hi Mr. Pete,
    Thanks for your UniMat series. I must say you influenced me to go find a UniMat SB 200. I found a very nice machine, super clean and with a bunch of goodies. It came in the original box, manuals, HS steel cutting tools and some milling tools. It wasn’t cheap, but as I’m still a working stiff, I had the $’s. I’ve since picked a NOS milling table and a very nice chip tray. I’m still laboring to set up a proper shop, so this will be a fun toy once my shop is not a disorganized mess. The machine has some great accessories like the grinding hood. I have enjoyed your videos for many years. Thanks for all your efforts and the great knowledge you provide. Like being in the best shop class.
    Best Regards,
    John

    Any reason to worry about the dies being centered with the tail stock and the chuck? Just seems to be a risk of being a little sloppy when putting it together.

    perfect, thanks! so could you also drill a 7mm hole in the backside and glue / press in a 7mm arbor rather than turn down the arbor... just thinking about minimizing chips... =D Happy Saturday, Thanks again.

    • @ellieprice363
      @ellieprice363 8 місяців тому

      If you don’t mind me answering. Yes you can do that and it would save some chips. Red Loctite would probably be adequate to drive the tool.

    What happened to part 2 of the Vevor drill/end mill sharpener?
    I ordered a Vevor MR-13B and was looking forward to seeing it sharpen end mills.
    Is that video coming soon??

    Step 9 of the Unimat Challenge! Another neat project, though yes, it was cheating you used your full size machines, lol. Though can you imagine if you had to set up the Unimat for drilling those holes?

      @@mrpete222 It was the best job of my partsmaker years.Loaned out to the development shop dealing with engineers who got me whatever I wanted. My boss's recommendation to the engineer was "This is the lowest pay grade who can handle the job."As an aside I was born in 1943 in the country. We used to play ice hockey against townies like you.Once, a townie and I went over the dam breast fighting for the puck.

      Nothing shameful about it, that’s why I make these videos. The 5/8 dies are kind of rare.
