I love Hot Tamales! They are wonderful. And I want add a little information on the Milky Way / Mars Bar discussion. In 1924 Frank C. Mars of Minnesota introduced the Milky Way Bar (nougat - caramel - milk chocolate) in the US. In 1932 Frank's son Forrest opened a factory in Slough, England. He made a variation of the Milky Way Bar naming it Mars Bar. Some years later Forrest wanted to expand to the US so he took his Mars Bar and added almonds to the US market. That bar was marketed in the US until 2002. Then in 2003 it was re-branded Snickers Almond.
Hey Guys, I moved from Germany to the USA a couple of years ago and I went through all the things you are showing in your videos. It's funny to see Phil's reactions, I was exactly the same. I would like him to try beef jerky next time.
@@DeanaandPhil I still can't enjoy some things like root beer or Hershey's chocolate, also it is hard for me to drink the tap water in restaurants sometimes. It tastes just too much like chlorine.
@@DeanaandPhil Mounds is probably your Bounty. Basically the Almond Joy with the almond....the jingles were "almond joy's got nuts, mounds don't", and "sometimes you feel like a nut, sometime's you don't".
Why the name differences??? FYI.... Mars Inc. introduced 3 Musketeers in 1932, its third major product after Milky Way in 1923 (“chocolate malted milk and caramel in a candy bar”) and Snickers in 1930. It came in three pieces - vanilla, chocolate and strawberry - which allowed you to treat your friends to a piece or two. “All for one or one for a couple of others,” as the famous trio might have said during a commercial break in Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel, for which the candy was named. Sugar rationing during WW2 forced the company to stop making all except the most popular flavor, chocolate. The Mars bar (also introduced in 1932 by Ethel M chocolates) was much like the snickers bar except it had almond chunks in the nougat instead of peanuts in the caramel. Ethel M is actually Ethel Veronica Mars, the 2nd wife of Franklin Clarence Mars. Together they founded the Mar-o-bar candy company which later became Mars, Incorporated. Later on in 1932, after a disagreement with his father Franklin, Forest Mars Sr opened Mars Foods UK in Slough, England and started producing the Milky Way recipe but named it the Mars Bar. Sometime after WW2 he made a mends with his father and started making the 3 musketeers chocolate recipe and called it the Milky Way.
I loved Hot Tamales when I was in the US! In Germany, we had something similar in the 1970ies, but I can't remember what it was called (I was born in 1970). -- BTW, the European Milky Way bar has a milky type of airy nougat in it, it's pretty good.
We never really had the Little Debbie Swiss Rolls. We always had the Hostess Ho-Hos (and Cupcakes, Raspberry Zingers, Fruit Pies, etc). same company that makes the Twinkies...
Almond Joy are delicious! Flamin Hot anything are delicious too! As an American, I have to suggest a good Reuben sandwich. I imagine a German palate might enjoy it. (I don’t know what city you’re in so I don’t know a place to suggest)
There are *so* many chips and candies in this country. I don't eat any of them anymore but I used to like quite a few when I was younger. You should include the classics here like Pringles, Ruffles, Doritos, Whatchamacallits, Charleston Chews, and the York Peppermint Patties. And since Deana likes mint and chocolate so much, you should include Andes Mint candies. I imagine they're closest to the Lindt brand, which I've never tried.

Mr. Mars brought his son into the Mars Candy company after son completed college. Although they had a good relationship it was not long before they realized they could not work together. Mars Sr. gave Mars Jr. a pocket full of cash and said go make your way in this world. Mars Jr. went to England and began making Milky Way candy bars. To distinguish himself Mars Jr. changed the name Milky Way to Mars Bar. This is a very simplistic telling of the story but the essence of what came to be is there.
Nah Zee? told ya you would like Cheetos! and Dove chocolate! Personally, I love every food in Germany...yes everything (especially bread). I miss it so much, I cook German food often.
Phil, sorry that you didn't like the hot cinnamon candy, I love it. During Lent we would give up chocolate, we would buy the cinnamon candy and put a handful in our mouths. Then, feel the burn!!
I see a lot of people from Europe that say they've never had beef jerky, and it's more of an "American" thing, so that could be nice. Twizzlers is another snack that I see mostly to be an American thing - just make sure that if he's going to taste test it, that he eats it before other sweets because it has a very mild flavor, and some people would go and eat something really sweet or rich like a chocolate bar, and then they'll say Twizzlers don't taste like anything. But if he likes the flamin' hot cheetos, then he might like these weird off-brand snacks that I've only really seen them sell at dollar general. They're made by Herr's I think, and they're called Jalapino Poppers - they look like the big puffy cheetos, not the small crispy ones, but they have a nice Jalapino flavor. There's also a lesser-known candy bar, that sounds like a white chocolate Mars Bar, considering what I've heard Mars Bars are like, they're called Zero, and I'm pretty sure you can find them in most candy aisles - I know Walmart carries them. I'm also not sure if pork rinds are big outside the US but I know a lot of people here that are big fans.
I like Lil Debbie oatmeal cakes and Zebra cakes, most people heat the honey buns. Some people also put butter on it. Zero bars, Moon pies, saltwater taffy, root beer barrels, horehound candy hard cinnamon candy and seasonal treats like candy hearts and robins eggs. Handmade fudge is good. Peppermint patties. Americans definitely have flavored crackers, flavored chips and many different kinds of soda. Root beer, Birch beer, sarsaparilla and other sassafras and licorice flavored candies and drinks, too! Sugar daddies and sugar babies.
carl Smith Even as a kid I hated Moon Pies. My mom would buy the box with several in it....yuck! My older sister went for Honey Buns but I never cared too much for them either although better than a Moon Pie. I like the Oatmeal Cakes or Swiss Rolls.
You mentioned Bounty was the German equiv of Almond Joy (just without the almond). Mounds is the Almond Joy without the almond in the US. They used to have a jingle about it. "Sometimes you feel like a nut...sometimes you don't. Peter Paul's Almond Joy's got nuts. Peter Paul's Mounds don't." Peter Paul was a candy company and I think they were bought out by Hershey.
You should try Cheddar Jalepeño Cheetos! Also the white castle burgers with Jalepeños are better than the ones Phil was excited about in the Wal-Mart video.

When I was a child, I lived in Germany from 1978-1988 because my father was in the US Army. From 1986-1988 we lived in Viersen, Dülken. Our landlord Peter Müelenbroch worked for the the Mars candy company. The Mars bar and Milky Way are literally the same candy bar. It’s just marketed as a Mars bars in Europe because it’s produced by the Mars candy company. I have fond memories coming downstairs from our apartment (we lived on the 2nd floor of their house) and finding a bag a Mars candy from Peter. I hope that answers your question. I was hoping you could answer a question for me. What is the long wafer cookie with the layers or white and pink marshmallow called? I remember that they were found in bakery’s and were kind of long.
The Mounds bar is like the Bounty bar in Europe. Both of those, the Almond Joy, the Mars bar, 3 Musketeers and Milky Way are all made by the same company, M%M/Mars. They tend to make the European versions with better, more natural ingredients. They won;t let them use garbage ingredients like high fructose corn syrup in most European countries. As for best cinnamon candy, I prefer the Brach's Cinnamon Discs, think a butterscotch disc or peppermint. disc but cinnamon flavored. Also, you missed out on Twizzlers, although that might be readily available in Europe.
I’m a fan of savory over sweet... so I prefer Hot Cheetos the most. I also recommend Phil tries Andy Capp’s Hot Fries. Spicy corn “chips” similar to hot Cheetos, but less dense.
You have to try all three flavors of the Charleston Chew (Vanilla and Strawberry are the best but Chocolate is good too) THE ONLY WAY TO ENJOY THEM: Step 1. you HAVE TO FREEZE them. 2. Then break them into bite sized chips(just hitting them on the counter a couple times will shatter them... Despite freezing they melt in your mouth if u mix all three it tastes just like neapolitan ice cream.
Yes as I said your first video american milky ways are european mars bars and american 3 musketeers are europeans milk ways. Same company (mars corporation. Which makes a lot of well known snack foods and candies) rebranded for different parts of the world. lays is he same company as "walkers" in the UK (same chips different name, and a few different flavors for the local area). Often times it is because they buy a company in another country and want to keep the local name for brand recognition. Or want to market the new companies products in their home country without causing confusion. Other times it is because the country already has something by the same name. The milky way was made by the mars corporation (slightly different name at the time) hen his son opened up different company in the UK that made a candy bar based on the popular milky way in the US and called it the mars bar (last name mars because you know son of US mars corporation founder last named mars) then later the european milky way made it over here but we already had a milky way so it was named the 3 musketeers. A mars bar also made it back over here (it was a mars bar with almonds) but it was discontinued in 2003 and turned into the almonds snickers.
Thats funny, Seems that in Austria we have more of the lookalikes of american candy than the germans do.. For example in my youth - we had a product called "Double Dip" which was like the "fun dip" you showed, and those whoppers seem to be just like a - more artificially flavored version - of your "maltesers".

Zero bars, Reese's cups, Reese's pieces, well anything Reese's in candy form, Kit Kat, 3 Musketeers bar, Payday (original), Skor bar, Milky Way, Snickers, 100 Grand bar, Mr. Goodbar, Cow Tails or equivalent (they are a more formed caramel outside with a very soft inside)... they have another treat like this of a different name that starts with a G... I think it is Gorretz? I love both! This is already so long... I think everyone is tired of reading this by now. I'm so sorry for the long post. P.S. Try Mounds it's Almond Joy's twin... It's dark chocolate with coconut.... that's it no Almond. Where York patties?... Andes chocolates? Andes are the best in my opinion. I think Deana is thinking of the after mints after "Olive Garden" I do really like them. Andes chocolates are like the best in the US for an after supper mint!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I love Almond Joys. Always have. Funny story, the original Willy Wonka movie they had a "scrumdiddlicious" bar. And when Charlie opens the packaging I thought . . . it looks like an Almond Joy. And it turns out, the prop was a stale Almond Joy.
I'm watching this drinking IBC cream soda and eating Chef boy r d raviolis. It was all that was left in the fridge but trust me, I do NOT hate it right now.
little known fact: Notice there used to be illustrations of the Three Musketeers on the wrapper all in different colors. Because originally they came in 3 flavors. Only the Chocolate survived till today. The Vanilla and Strawberry were discontinued years ago.
Loved cinnamon candy's as a kid not necessarily hot tamales . Also loved" good and plenty "do not see much of that around any more but they do come in movie theater boxes . Also "sweet tarts" I loved as a kid . Otherwise you got most of them I am bit older so I used to always get penny and nickel candy's so we get a mixture .
Almond Joy, I've always thought of as being more loved by older people. And on Halloween I would always give mine to my dad, it's been his favorite for as long as I can remember. Love watching you guys do these comparison videos! I've actually ordered some German candy from Amazon since watching your other videos.😀

@@JadedKate I will do that, thanks! Question, is the German Kinder stuff less sweet or different at all from the American version, Kinder Joy? I tried Kinder Joy since you can get it at the grocery store here, and I thought it was way too sweet. I was so excited to try it since every video I've seen, everyone loves Kinder, and I was really disappointed.
I never tried the Whoppers but it sounds like the "Malteser" we have in Germany here. Also malted chocolate...ever tried them? I am pretty sure they taste the same. They are also such small balls.
, commonly known as , is a variety of chocolate bar produced by Mars, Incorporated. It was first manufactured in 1932 in Slough, England by Forrest Mars, Sr. The bar was sold in two different formulations. In its original British version the bar consists of caramel and nougat coated with milk chocolate. An American version of the Mars Bar was produced which had nougat and toasted almonds covered in milk chocolate; later, caramel was added to the recipe as well. The American version was discontinued in 2002, and then revived the following year under the name "Snickers Almond".

Milky Way bar in the UK is chocolate with a light creamy / chocolate inner .. Mars bars are like you say quite a heavy chocolate covered cramel bar
I love Almond Joy, but then again, I'm old too...lolol What, no Girl Scout Cookies? Aww man!!
Hey guys you need to do another American snacks video.. Try. Chicostick, burnt peanuts, saltwater taffy, red hots and pop rocks.
There are way too many American candies and snacks to try! Some things I remember from childhood are Laffy Taffies, Cheezits, Butterfingers, and fruit roll ups! Wow so many memories filled with sugar and carbs....
I think I would like almond joy because I really like bounty and raffaello 🤤🤤🤤 wanna try it so badly 😅
There's a Mounds bar that's like the Almond Joy but without the Almond and it's dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate.
I love Almond Joys. Always have. Funny story, the original Willy Wonka movie they had a "scrumdiddlicious" bar. And when Charlie opens the packaging I thought . . . it looks like an Almond Joy. And it turns out, the prop was a stale Almond Joy.
How did i JUST stumble upon this channel :( aber liebe eure videos!
Although I generally like cinnamon as a spice, I could never get into Hot Tamales. After one candy, I feel an urge to rinse out my mouth.
We can relate =)
I just want to say, you guys are such a cute couple!
I'm watching this drinking IBC cream soda and eating Chef boy r d raviolis. It was all that was left in the fridge but trust me, I do NOT hate it right now.
I didn't expect that random Perry Rhodan comment in a candy tasting video ;-)
little known fact: Notice there used to be illustrations of the Three Musketeers on the wrapper all in different colors. Because originally they came in 3 flavors. Only the Chocolate survived till today. The Vanilla and Strawberry were discontinued years ago.
Of the Little Debbie products I prefer the Oatmeal Cakes or Swiss Rolls.
Huh! Where are the Milk Duds?! lol
They are Junior Mints because there is a large version maybe 3 inches across.
I just realized I watched the whole video while eating a salad 😂😂😂
We usually do it the other way around
@@DeanaandPhil haha me too but it somehow happened 😂
I love Almond Joy, and I have all of my life, so not just as an adult. Mounds are Almond Joy without the Almond. 🎵 Almond Joy has nuts, Mounds dont.🎶
"Cuz....sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes ya don't!"
I don't really love the Flamin' Hot Cheetos, but the Flamin' Hot Dill Pickle Lays are fantastic.
Gotta try Warheads.
Love the videos
Almond Joy, I've always thought of as being more loved by older people. And on Halloween I would always give mine to my dad, it's been his favorite for as long as I can remember. Love watching you guys do these comparison videos! I've actually ordered some German candy from Amazon since watching your other videos.😀
That's awesome! Let us know if you liked it! =)
@@DeanaandPhil Knoppers are the best thing ever!😋 My boyfriend says the Pick Up is the best, with the biscuit on the top and bottom, and chocolate in the middle. I really liked it too, German chocolate is the best! I'm getting Knoppers to put in my whole family's Christmas stockings! ☺️
@@jtdw10 No, get them the Toffifee ! Every Christmas they have a christmas packaging specially for holiday gifts.
@@jtdw10 AND KINDER BUENO
@@JadedKate I will do that, thanks! Question, is the German Kinder stuff less sweet or different at all from the American version, Kinder Joy? I tried Kinder Joy since you can get it at the grocery store here, and I thought it was way too sweet. I was so excited to try it since every video I've seen, everyone loves Kinder, and I was really disappointed.
Frozen if mints are awesome! Yes they have a bigger version
Love Almond joy and hot tamales are always in movie theaters
Humm, interesting, here down under,Australia and New Zealand,Milky Way’s were white chocolate

I prefer Mounds to Almond Joy. Have him try a Chunky, 100 Grand, whatchamacallit, flavored tootsie rolls and so many more….🥰❤️
Mounds is more like the Bounty bar
You would probably really like the Jalapeno Cheetos. They are awesome!
I don't know about star dust, but there sure is angel dust... it's like candy for the brain.
Yes to Almond Joy's and Hot Tamales!! 😆
The hot tamales are one of my brother in Laws favorite candies lol
My teacher looks like Phil😂
Sry I am from Austria
A Mounds bar is like Almond Joy but no Almond and is Dark Chocolate
