Watched your video on the alberto knot when you posted it and I've been tying it ever since instead of the FG. It's strong, quick and you don't need your best friend, dad and mama's 3rd cousin to tie it.👊
Good evening Mr. Brian Latimer, DUDE! Your video on How to retrieve a TopWater Popper is Totally "OFF DA Chain Gang!"LOL! 🙂I ENJOYED EVERY Minute of this presentation! Thank again for the detail of the retreaval of the popper as well as connecting the Floro to the main line, VERY HELPFUL ADVISE my fishing Friend! "U DA MAN!" LOL! Keep a tight line and NEVER STOP FISHING MY BRO! LOL! 🙂 SINCERELY, Mr. Carl J. Gwizdala aka "DESPERADO">
I thought I was just being a hard headed rookie for still using fluorocarbon on my popper. I’ve also never have tried fishing the popper fast. Just because I always have so much success fishing it slow. 1 pop then two small downward strike pops keeping the popper in place. I wait like 3 seconds an do it again. I frickin love watching your videos man. I am always telling everyone where to go to learn some tricks!
That’s the knot I’ve been tying for over twenty years. They call it the Royal Polaris knot after the San Diego sportboat. I was using the same knot from braid to flourocarbon for 300 lb tuna when I was into that. Never failed me once. Now I’m into freshwater and I use the same knots as saltwater. That and the San Diego jam knot is all use and never fails. Flourocarbon slides and ties real nice on the San Diego too. Great video.
I love me a top water popper. I have caught more bass on that type of lure than any other top water bait. I am going to pick up a frog this year since I do not have one in my arsenal.
I use flouro to braid on my treble hook topwater too. On big wakes I use copolymer to keep them from tangling. I stopped using a palomar knot with flouro. I just had the knot to fail a few times, but I do use it with mono and copolymer.
I've taken to using the San Diego Jam knot for terminal knots, myself. I weirdly have an easier time tying that one than a palomar, especially with thicker flouro (15+ lb test).
I do the same thing with braid to fluorocarbon. Less fish throw the bait and no line around the hooks. I use either a blood knot or Alberto knot. I use a trylene knot on the bait though
My favorite Popper Is the Hula Popper 2.0 idk Why, but it's the one I had the most luck on, and Tbh I've Used Braided/fluorocarbon, But Mono has always done better for My poppers, and Jerkbaits, Also To everyone Who can't see the Alberto knot, or isn't good at knots, Try the Uni knot It's Abit simpler, and holds well. Great video, Great advice, also Tight Lines to everyone, and Good Luck BLat On the rest of the year Big dawg!!
Man I just got back into fishing after 15 years and bought my first baitcaster . I don’t understand how y’all cast so accurately 😂😂 I always get caught on trees
I always fish my popper around seawalls in the mornings. Try to get it as close to the wall as you can. Little pops. Once the baits about 2-3’ from the wall it’s time for the next cast.
B Lat next time your in the wilson dam area in alabama I would love to give you a location of this insane pond that got me into bass fishing!! I think the people would have a great time watching you fish it also I think you would have one of the best fishing days of your life!!!
I use to use the Alberto knot, until the purchased the FG knot assist 2.0 tool. Now I can tie the FG on the water super quick. You should check none out. Just sayin
Hey Brian, watching your 'Big Comeback' video and it got me to wondering why you don't weigh the fish to maximize your weights? Not effective to warrant less time in the water, not allowed in the rules? just wondering.
I always tie alberto knots. They are quick and easy to tie on the fly and they hold 98 percent of the time. The 2 percent of the time they dont hold is probably because I was rushing and didnt tie it right. FG knots are a pain in the rump and yeah they might be strong, but try tying that FG on the fly in a rolling boat. No thank you.
Florocarbon is 100 percent dense it sinks so it has no place in top water fishing 15 to 30 lb mono is you're best bet on the service l learned this from zell Roland
@@BrianLatimerFishing idk why but that was funny a guy tryna tell the brian latimer what hes doin is wrong 😂. Big fan ur an inspiration to all my fishing. Keep up the good work b lat
Id say it helps the “bloop” sound louder. But if your tryin to finesse and you dont want all that noise i guess it would make sinse to use a mono liter cuz it seems to make a lighter “bloop” with mono
@@BrianLatimerFishing In fly fishing with monofilament we used a three part 'mud'. Using one part cake icing glycerine liquid. One part kitchen washing up liquid. And one part Bentonite clay (which you can buy in packets). It's used as a base for those cosmetic facial treatments and things. That rich folks always have. We made enough of this mucky paste. To store inside of a small cosmetics jar or container. That would fit in your pocket. And rubbed some on the monofilament leader. It gives the best of both worlds. A buoyant leader material that was stretchy. And using the paste applied on it. It would break the surface film. So as to be invisible too. It's particularly useful at night, when there is moonlight cast across the water (the wrinkle in the surface film from monofilament makes a huge light refraction). That can be seen underneath the water in early dark mornings. Or late at night. I'd even recommend it on fluoro leaders too. All leaders get grease on them, which makes them repel water and float. Using the muck or paste, you break the surface film immediately. Baitfish feeding on insects. Rise and jump very infrequently on the surface. Could be every thirty seconds. So very slow retrieves can work well (that is where you want the leader line de-greased). For really slow retrieves for large mouth. It's recommended by some, you smoke a cigarette between retrieve motions of the top water.
Brian, Brian, Brian! I love ya bro, but you just threw that tag end line you bit off right into the water. Not cool man, not cool at all! Tighten up your game on that front man, please!
Dont know if you are aware or not but I was contacted by someone pretending to be you telling me that I won a fishing rod and tackle. All I needed to do is send 60 through Cashapp. Look and sounds like a scam.
No I did not but I will try to. A little late now this happened last week. 1st notice grammatical errors in the text when I asked how to cleam the prize they wanted me to Cashapp $60 and send a screen shot. This is the cash app name Clinton Eugene Lee
Thanks, I’m not a fisherman, I don’t fish but I do enjoy watching professionals and listening to what they say. Well done, play through.
Well said.
Brian you are by far my favorite youtuber/fisherman I’ve learned so much from your videos

Glad that helped man!
I use my second cousin.

My favorite top water for Pond fishing!
I respond well to the vocal cues. Great videos as always
I love poppers! The Blooper has caught me some nice ones! I'll give rhat fluoro setup a go
i know you're from South Carolina, but you give great advice for us Floridians.

can i use squarebills on this setup?
Can you use monofilament line?
I use a monofilament leader because it floats and the stretch helps delay the hook set and play the fish. Send doing it for years, I’m 74.
I do the same thing with braid to fluorocarbon. Less fish throw the bait and no line around the hooks. I use either a blood knot or Alberto knot. I use a trylene knot on the bait though

Same here . 40 years old and nothing beats the OG Hula Popper
Great content love your videos brother keep it up ☺️
Brian, Thank You , Thank You!!!!… That’s my experience too and I have used fluorocarbon for years because of hanging in the hooks….
Man I just got back into fishing after 15 years and bought my first baitcaster . I don’t understand how y’all cast so accurately 😂😂 I always get caught on trees
Practice
Ok B i see u got a little bit of hang time hanging out the back of you hat lol Great video bro! 💪🏽
What Up BLat!!! Checking to see if you're fishing the Potomac River MLF this year??? Wanted to bring my son out to meet you!!!
When you rig a fattz do you do a full Texas rig or do you just hide the hook in the slit?
I always fish my popper around seawalls in the mornings. Try to get it as close to the wall as you can. Little pops. Once the baits about 2-3’ from the wall it’s time for the next cast.
It’s a good bait for that. George Cochran won a cup doing exactly that.
Intense language. Good one.
If your leader is longer, say 2 meters, will it affect the popper's action?

Did he bite or the fluorocarbon and just throw it in the water?
absolutely!
You should really not throw your trash in the water man. You can do better than that.
Why the heavy rod?
I use to use the Alberto knot, until the purchased the FG knot assist 2.0 tool. Now I can tie the FG on the water super quick. You should check none out. Just sayin
Hey why not use mono to fluro?
Why should you
Hula Popper 4L
I'm gonna buy a set of these just because of the name🤣
Hey Brian, watching your 'Big Comeback' video and it got me to wondering why you don't weigh the fish to maximize your weights? Not effective to warrant less time in the water, not allowed in the rules? just wondering.
Who said I didn’t?
Surgeons knot is arguably the easiest
😂 No shade in AZ, just sticks & cactus
Why not just throw straight mono with your popper too much stretch?
Yeah it just sucks for this in my opinion

why not mono?
Go ahead and use it! That’s just one more thing I have to carry that I don’t use regularly.
The beard got trimmed up
Bloop! Bloop!
Bloop! Bloop! BLOOP!
Try monofilament
Sure! If that’s what you have use it!
You forgot...Expensive as Hell!!!
What no fish to show on top water 🥺
Read the title
Bloop!
Bro my name is Ronald lol and leave me alone lol

I noticed you don't switch hands, back and for, after casting. Most using a bait caster do. Over and over. Wasted motion. You do it better.
Nice vids, buuuutt, all that equipment and all, but you don't have a knife or scissors. Civilization started with something sharp and fire.
What “all that equipment”?
@@BrianLatimerFishing ,? Well I don't see you sitting on a log.
