Sure they were lip syncing, but they got locked in with contracts and could not get out of. They should have had lawyers look them over first but the were young and star struck. They thought they had their dream coming true. But I do take my hat off. The actual voices of Milli Vanilli just worked in the studio and thats it. These two were the heart, soul and face of Milli Vanilli. They were the ones who worked their asses off doing tours, music videos, press conferences, and special appearances. They were the actual performers of the group, made connections with the fans, entertained and put on shows and therefore they were Milli Vanilli!! The other people were simply tools of the show and nothing more.
The Grammy was a different beast though. The Recording Academy is the learned society of the entire music industry and Milli Vanilli winning one of their awards clearly threatened to throw the whole organization’s credibility into question, especially since Milli had won under false pretenses. Milli’s record label in America, Arista Records, had prominently credited Rob & Fab as the vocalists in the liner notes of their records. The Grammys are about the overall merit of the music. Milli Vanilli had to be disqualified.

I am so proud of Rob and Fab! These 2 brave guys came out to the world and spoke the HONEST TRUTH about how and why they were scammed/jacked by some corrupt music producers... Even despite all of the threats and lawsuits they have received. You really gotta give 'em a great amount of respect and credit just for being so brave and honest like that! These men can not only sing and dance EXTREMELY WELL, but they truly represent just how COOL and SEXY late 80s/early 90s musicians should be like. You can no longer see anybody like them on the streets anymore. I just wish the world would've been a little kinder to them, maybe Rob would still be with us. I had a band manager try and take advantage of me for my look and local influence in the late 1990s and early 2000s. I sang myself, but my manager was trying to market me to line his pockets. I got out before it got too far. But I paid with rumors of my death (which they are lucky they took it down off the website before I was able to see it & screen shot it, I still had dial up internet at the time!) And then he tried to sue me for lost investments into merch, though we sold out of the tees with my likeness on them, there were still copies of my demo cd and full color photo sleeve-- they didn't show up to their own lawsuit in small claims court so it was dismissed. He still passed my demo out for a year after that. In fact about 6 years later I was put in contact with a guy from the east coast who did a nice review of my demo cd, but he had been told I was dead. I got to dispel that little rumor and he updated his cd review. I also had my tires slashed on my car multiple times & my vehicle and the one after it stolen numerous times. Karma caught up with him though - he started having major health issues & he was sued by the band KISS for 8 million dollars, for bootlegging. He also tried at one point to "replace me" with a look a like & give her my stage name but they never managed to find my visual equal, so it never happened.

I feel that if they knew what they were doing was wrong then they should have came forward before they were caught. Maybe the backlash would have been different. I feel bad for Rob tho. He set them up to be the fall guys while he still had success with other dance acts of his into the 1990’s.

lmao I never liked those fools. I'm a musician and when I saw their videos I knew some shady shit was going on. their look didn't match the vocals. I could tell singers a lot older were singing the parts
I'm not even a musician I can tell the voices coming out from their mouths are not their real voices... Especially when it comes Rob's singing part I always imagine an old dude with stick singing ..In Baby Don't Forget My Number one part he imitate an old man dancing lol...but I love them because they stopped it..have integrity to give Grammy to real singers... they told everybody 6 months before the Grammy because they don't want to get the Grammy, Clive Davis signed them for US record pretended didn't know anything just walk away just like that should be blamed...they were just two European kids live in poverty ya know..

They were bad ass! These 2 guys worked their asses off, had they led them sing , well they would had!
Their producer basically tricked them into it. They had them sign a record contract without lawyers or managers or really reading it themselves, with Rob & Fab not knowing what they would even be really used for until it was basically too late to get out of it. Rob & Fab had no music business experience whatsoever and the producer completely exploited and took advantage of them. He set them up to be the fall guys while he still had success with other dance acts of his into the 1990’s.
